On which graphic card you run Kdenlive? Goto settings -> OpenGL backend -> Try out different OpenGL settings. I do not want to change over time. I finally got the cropping by manually entering numbers in the % size window. There was supposed to be a slider for that. The locating buttons do not work, set height or set width etc just make the screen blink, but no change is made. If you like to make changes over time you have to set keyframes. Make sure they are visible (click right of the transform name the icon).
