OK. Here is an example email sent to a office365 account. When retrieved and
read in Kmail via IMAP, then Kmail used to automatically sent out a read
receipt.

I played around again with the security settings in kmail. After setting MDN

This may have been just a setting that was not correctly displayed in the GUI
