The process triggers no errors and everything seems fine. However, the directory tree (inbox, sent, etc) is not created. Tried several times with same result every time. This is an office 365 account, analogous to another I configured few months before with no issue, so I suppose this is some sort of regression. Also, adding the account to Trojita works just fine, so it doesn't seem to be something internal to the servers. Could you please try to add a new imap account to see if you can reproduce the issue in your system? Not sure if the issue in kmail is specific for office365 imap accounts or general. Any help is more than appreciated!
