Thunderbird and even KMail itself can compose Mails KMail can't propperly display! I tried to reproduce this behavior and composed a HTML-Mail (richtext) and embeded a jpg. The send folder contained my composed mail. While clicking that mail and switching between HTML and cleartext view my attachment magically disappeared. In HTML-View only a broken Image Icon is displayed. Changing the Attachment view or Theme does not change this behavior. But now comes the "fun part": During my testst this only happenend when kmail was embedded into kontact. Starting kmail as a standalone app does not show this bug!
