There is the "Clone tab" function in the file menu, which does exactly what you
want:
https://github.com/KDE/konsole/blob/master/src/MainWindow.cpp#L448

But this function is only available in the File menu. IMHO it should be the
default way to create a new tab. How do you normally open a new tab?
