Sorry, I didn't know that you needed that. So here's the output when I opened
Krita, opened a random file, and then tried to start G'Mic.

Thanks! It's a really fresh reinstall of Mint if that helps. Here's what I get:

[krita] [Bug 384639] G'Mic does not open in Mint

2017-09-13 Thread Boudewijn Rempt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384639

It depends on where the appimage is located. Use "cd" to move to that location.
Add "./" without the quotes before krita-3.2.1-x86_64.appimage and press enter.

So, for instance:

cd ~/Downloads
./krita-3.2.1-x86_64.appimage

How do I run an appimage from the terminal? I'm in the terminal and in the
correct directory, but when I enter krita-3.2.1-x86_64.appimage or the same
without the extension it doesn't run. Sorry, this is why I avoid the terminal,
things that are basic in a GUI get complicated fast :-)

Well, it's the way to get possibly interesting messages -- that might indicate
why the plugin that's shipped with the appimage doesn't start...

Thank you for your quick reply. I've experimented with removing the path and
nothing happened. I did a search on my system and found a g'mic krita file and
I tried to specify that in that path, but it didn't work either. I do have Gimp
and g'mic works on that. As far as the command line, I'm a visual person so try
to avoid it as much as possible, I don't even know how to open krita from
there, but can look up how if you think it would help. I'm not a programmer and
have always loved Krita because it just works.

Does it help if you remove the path to the gmic plugin from .config/kritarc? If
not, do you see any intereting output when starting the appimage from the
commandline?
