Happens to me often, I draw in symmetry. adjust etc and then realize half the
drawing was adjusted/cleared/moved
Wouldn't mirroring selection be an option?
Otherwise one would need to make a quick clear of half the canvas, duplicate
and flip the other side and merge again.
