I am really sorry for all the problems and all your time that I wasted! I accidentally uploaded a 32 bits version of Krita to the Windows Store. And you got that as an update, and that only can handle very small images. I fixed that on Friday, and the 64 bits version is in the store since Monday. I'm not sure how fast Microsoft updates everyone with the previous version, but you can use the stable nightly in the meantime. And by default Krita allows only half of the RAM for image data, since the OS also needs RAM (and Windows 10 needs a lot), but the image needs 1.9 GB of RAM.
