This is being worked on for Plasma Mobile, I believe. I'd like to have it on
Plasma Desktop too.

Needs to be optional due to privacy and security considerations, of course.

This was suggested recently on a comment to a GSoC post and I thought it'd be
really nice addition to the lock screen.

So I searched bugzilla before opening a feature request and found this one :)

Was there any work on this or just discussions?

I'd also like to see this implemented into KDE, bringing a feature from other
OSes and some DEs to Plasma. Due to security concerns, we can make this
toggleable or just show the applications that sent notifications instead of the
full detail, i.e.

"3 Notifications from Thunderbird"
"5 Notifications from Discord"
"24 Updates Available"
etc.

This report is rather old, but I would like to see this in a future version of
Plasma 5. Modern desktop OS's like Mac OS and Windows 10 both implement this
feature and even some Linux DE's like GNOME. It could be togglable for privacy
reasons, but I would like the option.
