Tried ktorrent in a Plasma session in a fresh install of openSuse Leap 42.3 in
a virtual machine, works without problems.

What is the output of "less -al $HOME/.ICEauthority" in a konsole?

Using ktorrent 5.1.0 master build from sources and in neon devedition unstable
the application window is properly displayed.
Maybe an openSuse or XFCE issue?
