This patch fixes this issue for me. DRI3 w/mesa 11.1 (i965), KF 5.18. plasma
5.5.3

I am using the Radeon driver. That bugs title says it's related to Intel only,
and I couldn't figure out with a quick skim through the comments whether that's
just outdated information or actually true.

Probably. But that's the output when using GLX. It does not explain why EGL
does not work at all.
