[kwin] [Bug 460572] When KWin is compiled with any AVX512 features, windows snapped to screen edges display correctly but content is shifted to the right virtually
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460572 --- Comment #38 from dofficialg...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #37) > None of kwin developers have required hardware to debug this issue, so it's > unlikely that there will be any progress any time soon. In that case I am happy to point you to hardware resources that you may already have (or could use for free) that will encounter the issue. As I previously mentioned, all ARM64 devices appear to experience this issue (at least on Debian/Ubuntu releases) so I list a few devices you can use to run KDE Plasma there (at minimum on the latest LTS Ubuntu but there may be other images available). 1. Raspberry Pi (3/4/5) - https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/operating-systems/ or https://ubuntu.com/download/raspberry-pi or many other images 2. Nintendo Switch (Unpatched or Patched with a modchip) - https://wiki.switchroot.org/wiki/linux/linux-distributions 3. Apple Silicon Macs - https://asahilinux.org/ 4. Oracle ARM Instance (Arm-based Ampere A1 cores and 24 GB of memory usable as 1 VM or up to 4 VMs Always Free 3,000 OCPU hours and 18,000 GB hours per month) - https://www.oracle.com/cloud/free/ #4 is obtainable for FREE for any developer (and I personally have had one for over a year) and #1-3 I know the likelihood that one of the developers has one is near 100%. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460572 --- Comment #36 from dofficialg...@gmail.com --- Any updates or thoughts on the cause of this issue? It makes using the desktop quite annoying to remember never to snap windows to the left side of the screen and always leave a good amount of space between the window from the top and left. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460572 --- Comment #32 from dofficialg...@gmail.com --- @nate I don't think the bug name change is accurate. As mentioned this is reproducible on aarch64 (no relevance to AVX512). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
