Any progress about this problem?
"Install debug symbols" button is useless and never installs debug packages.
End users need a crash reporter that works to send good backtraces and help
devs to improve KDE software.

I installed 'libqalculate6' package - cause without it plasma workspace wasn't
updating.

After update and reboot - i got the following output in apt-cache policy:

This is default policy after update of the system with Discover in Dev Unstable
iso. How to change this policy? Should i report a separate bug on this issue?

There's output missing from the beginning.

> "plasma-workspace;4:5.10.4+p16.04+git20170803.0557-0;amd64;installed:neon-xenial-main"

If this output is recent it is not working because you are trying to debug a 20
day out of date system. Dev edition builds rotate once a day.
If the output is not recent it is not particularly useful, tomorrows builds
will include more verbosity on error conditions though.

Debug reports from live sessions are fairly useless. Live sessions are mostly
non representative as the system is bootstrapped out of UEFI in fairly
non-standard ways, drivers may not be available/loaded and the running
applications themselves are restricted/crippled as to conserve RAM usage seeing
as both the ISO/delta thereof and the application need to fit in RAM.

It works just fine once the system is installed.

I think that this is major issue - without debug packages i cannot easily send
bug report with backtrace through Crash Reporting Assistant after a crash both
in X and Wayland. Or am i missing something?

1. Start Wayland session on unstable live iso - currently it's 20170813 iso.
2. Cause some Plasma Wayland crash.
3. Click on 'Plasma Closed Unexpectedly' icon in system tray.
4. 'Plasma' window with 'We are sorry, Plasma closed unexpectedly...' text in
'General' tab of this window appears.
5. There's also 'Developer Information' tab in this window - and in this tab
there is 'Install Debug Symbols' button.
6. After pressing on this button - 'Missing debug symbols' window appears.
After some time 'Error during the installation of debug symbols' popup window
appears. Debug symbols are not installed.

when an error occurs grab debug output from ~/.cache/xsession-errors and post
it please. I am not sure what exactly you want to happen though. If there's an
error there's an error.
