Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status
in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely
rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug
has already been resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the
issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel
free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future
mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham

FWIW, on kf5/plasma5 now and for I think a year or so now, and no sign of this
bug. So anyone still on kde4/plasma4 and struggling with it, know that it does
appear to be fixed in kf5/plasma5 -- you may wish to upgrade. =:^)

(Meanwhile, my previous comment was worrying about semantic-desktop/baloo,
whether it was required for plasma5. FWIW, until a few days ago it was indeed
officially required for both plasma-desktop-5 and plasma-workspace-5, tho
patching out the requirement and skipping build of the plasma components that
required it was reasonably trivial and I was doing exactly that. But I can
happily report that as of a few days ago, it's officially optional now, at
least in live-git-kf5/plasma5, which I run via the gentoo/kde overlay live-git
packages. =:^) And gentoo has already enabled the option again as the
semantic-desktop USE flag, as well, at least for the live-git builds, tho it'll
likely take some time to be released upstream and then to filter down to ~arch
and stal^Hble for gentooers. But it's coming in gentoo, and for those who care
enough to build it themselves, it's actually possible to use the official
option to turn the baloo deps off at build-time, now, instead of having to
carry their own patches to do it. So I'm reasonably happy with kde/plasma,
now, and shouldn't have to worry about having to switch desktop environments
for awhile. =:^)
