OK, I may have over-reacted slightly, this was annoying me so I had a bit of a
go at fixing it. I notice that the problem happened only when one particular
panel was unhidden by a mouse hover, so I dragged all the widgets on it to the
desktop, deleted the now blank panel, created a new panel and dragged all the
widgets back on and put it back where the old one was.
It now (fingers crossed) seems to be OK!
