I meant to say "hangs" instead of "crashes", as that's what was probably
happening to me back then. Sorry!

I kind of forgot about this bug report.

I just want to say that I have not experienced these crashes for some time
now... i am not sure if it was because of some downloaded plasmoids or whatever
but I am not getting these crashes anymore.

Andrej, let's keep this issue about what Mark is reporting.

Mark, if you disable "Show small preview windows when hovering over tasks" in
your Task Manager's settings window, does the problem go away? If so, it's the
same issue as Bug 469016.

Plasmashell hang backtraces

Here are my latest 4 hangs.

In the last two hangs (05-07-2023 and 01-07-2023) I have noticed a lot of
"ThreadWeaver" related stuff that didn't appear in the older backtraces. I want
to say that this ThreadWeaver stuff started appearing after removing the "Media
Player" widget from my panel, but I am not entirely sure...

I have the same behavior, just that I don't know how to reproduce it on demand,
it always seems pretty random when the hang happens.

These are without debug symbols, for now. I will install the related debug
packages and will send another backtrace when it eventually hangs again.

Hmm, unfortunately that backtrace isn't very helpful. :/

The next time it happens, type "thread apply all bt" instead of "bt". This will
show all threads, and hopefully one of the other ones will indicate something
more actionable.

Oh, and this morning the reproduction rate is maybe 1/5. Yesterday it was
happening every time I tried.

Is this 100% reproducible for you by launching an app without moving the
pointer off of it while it loads?

Also could you get a backtrace of what plasmashell is doing when it's hung?

1. Run `gdb attach $(pidof plasmashell)` in a terminal window
2. If it says "--Type for more, q to quit, c to continue without
paging--" at the bottom of the terminal window, press the "c" key.
3. When you see a prompt that says "(gdb)", type "bt" and press the enter key
4. If it says "--Type for more, q to quit, c to continue without
paging--" at the bottom of the terminal window, press the "c" key.
5. Copy-and-paste the contents of the terminal window into a comment here
