It sounds a bit unrealistic.

In the *nix world are different places and ways to store configuration
informations. A application should be transparent about this and just tell the
user where the config file is.

This is not the first time I see this attitude in the KDE environment. This
does not help the project.

edit it safely.

There isn't a use case for a hybrid.
