[plasmashell] [Bug 394532] Multimonitor - Task Manager lists tasks for wrong screen after screens switched off

2018-05-22 Thread JordanL
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394532

This seems to be "fixed" if I make the left-hand monitor the primary screen.
The right-hand task manager now lists the correct tasks after screens are
switched back on, and continues working without needing to restart
plasma-shell.

However, the windows are all still moved to the left-hand monitor.

[akregator] [Bug 394568] New: Next article with Key 'Left' moves addigtinally the article list to the left

2018-05-22 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394568

Bug ID: 394568
Summary: Next article with Key 'Left' moves addigtinally the
article list to the left
   Product: akregator
   Version: 5.8.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 112814
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=112814&action=edit
Before Key 'Left'

Reproduce:
 * use Wide-screen view
 * resize article list so horizontal scrollbar appears (see screenshot
akregator-before-key-left)
 * Use 'Left' cursor key to goto the next article
Result:
 * Additionally to going to next article the article list is shifted to the
left.
Therefore the beginning of the article titles is no longer visible (see
screenshot akregator-after-key-left)

Expected result:
 * article list is not shifted to the left and therefore the start of the
titles is still visible.

[konsole] [Bug 325178] Make window title configurable

Ahmad Samir changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||a.samir...@gmail.com

You can sort of achieve that with current konsole:
- There's a "Show window title on the titlebar" option (Settings -> Configure
Konsole -> General); if it's disabled, the same text is used for both the tab
and titlebar
- If it's enabled, you can set the window title using escape sequences, e.g.
you can use PROMPT_COMMAND for bash to set the window title, this is done by
default on my system (Fedora 28), I have this line in /etc/bashrc (preferably
you can add it to your ~/.bashrc):
PROMPT_COMMAND='printf "\033]2;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}"
"${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"'

the same thing can be done for zsh but you'd have to use precmd (I don't know
much about zsh).

For more information, check
http://invisible-island.net/xterm/ctlseqs/ctlseqs.html#h2-Operating-System-Commands

A couple of hints, (stuff I struggle{d} with):
- OSC is ESC]
- \033 is octal for ESC, you can alternatively use \e
- \007 is octal for BEL, you can alternatively use \a

For the printf syntax, check:
$ man 1 printf
$ man 3 printf

Because there's nothing to show, ArchLinux maintainers disable all backends by
default. As soon as you install packagekit-qt5 you will start seeing things.

If that's not how you'd expect it to work, talk to ArchLinux discover
packagers.

Looking at the code this warning should always be there (first build with gcc
8?). It is also irrevelant, unless someone uses 8-digit-long terminal
width/height. Increasing the buffer size to 27 will solve the problem.

I'll fix this

OK, good to know; I wasn't sure if it were important or not so I filed a bug to
track the issue / get it looked at.

Unable to start calligra. It just exits with no error message at all.

An strace -f calligra results in (many Resource temporarily unavai

I am running Fedora release 27. I did a 'dnf insall calligra', then tried to
run it.

I do not think I am running out of memory or VM, and everything else, big or

I don't have the same setup anymore, so don't experience the issue anymore.
But, for the record:

 - Arch Linux packages
 - Nouveau driver, unknown graphics card
 - The setup was: one hdmi-connected monitor, and the laptop screen. Although
it also occurred when I added a vga-connected monitor.
 - The right screen was indeed set as the primary screen (the hdmi-connected
one).

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: matthieu_gall...@yahoo.fr
  Reporter: dnico...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I think I've found a blind spot in elisa's UI/UX. There's no way to play a
track immediately without losing the entire playlist or enqueuing it and then
having to scroll down to find it. There's also no search function in the
playlist, which means the only way to play a specific track, even if it is in
the playlist, is to find it in a view, add it and then scroll all the way to
the bottom to play it.

I recently noticed this with a 6000 track playlist and it's a bummer :)

It'd be nice to have search in the playlist and and option to enqueue and play.
I don't think it needs to be an extra button though, maybe holding ctrl turns
the enqueue button's text to "enqueue and play" and then clicking adds and
plays the song right away.

Plasma 5 panel/taskbar showing stub icon for running Firefox

Hello,

When I start Firefox, the following happens in the panel/taskbar/task manager:
- A tab (task?) appears for Firefox.
- The Firefox icon appears on the tab for a few frames.
- There is a very brief stutter, as if Firefox closed and reopened.
- The Firefox icon is immediately replaced with what appears to be a stub icon.
- The stub icon will remain until I close Firefox or otherwise dismiss that
tab/task.

It looks like this:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/jPdQWi2crItDioED3
(This image is also attached.)
(The icon I see looks to me like a dark gray piece of paper with a folded
corner and a light gray iconified app window in the middle, with an exclamation
point in the middle of the window.)

This is very frustrating because the stub icon is non-distinct, so it kept
looking like I couldn't bring Firefox up by clicking on it in the
panel/taskbar, yet Firefox was there all along, hiding in the sea of gray.

I try various hocus pocus from bug reports and forum posts across the internet.
For example, I used kmenuedit to set Firefox's icon to firefox again, because
some users seemed to experience success with that and infer that the assignment
of that icon must do more than merely change the icon that appears in the
application launcher. None of those cute tricks worked.

Then I found this bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353733
which told me that the Firefox icon was removed from the Breeze theme due to
some kind of legal fears.

That was back in *2015*, so I was slightly disappointed that a KDE dude hasn't
talked to a Mozilla dude and reached an agreement to solve the problem sometime
before 2018. It seems like something that would be on the right side of
cost-benefit: sure this may seem minor, but it probably affects an enormous
amount of users in a very prominent way, and it might be very easy to fix.

But that's OK. The rest of my Plasma 5 experiences is going very well, and I
have a Firefox icon on my computer. Probably more than one, even! Firefox
comes with its own icon(s), after all.

So I set about injecting the Firefox icon back into its place. I learned that
there are various firefox.png instances in the
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/NNxNN/apps directories. I also learn that icons can
be added to the stack without disturbing the root system by building
corresponding directories in ~/.local/share/icons/*. I'm using the Breeze icon
theme, so I figure I need ~/.local/share/icons/breeze to contain at least the
firefox.png's from the hicolor theme (whatever that is).

The first experiment involves me creating a symlink...
/usr/share/icons/hicolor -> ~/.local/share/icons/breeze
... so that, per my naive understanding at the time, the icon set available
would essentially be the union of the two, with the .local ones overriding the
/usr ones in the event of conflict. And it works!... almost. The Firefox icon
reappeared, but then all of the other icons (Dolphin folder icons, system
settings icons, many things in the application launcher and settings menus, and
so on) went completely invisible. Not even a stub graphic remains. So that's
no good either, but it's encouraging at least.

Next I try to be more surgical. I delete that symlink and manually create the
~/.local/share/icons/breeze folder and subfolders, then I create individual
symlinks for every firefox.png file. Maybe there were a bunch in ~/.local that
were overriding /usr icons, but couldn't be rendered for some reason. Well,
that didn't work at all, and the system went back to the original condition
where most icons were fine and Firefox had a stub graphic for an icon.

I then start trying to figure out what made the one directory display the icon
I wanted when the other directory did not. This involved learning about the
Icon Theme layout; this site was my primary reference:
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html

Things I tried:
- Create an index.theme file in ~/.local/share/icons/breeze folder.
- Iterate on the index.theme file and occasionally bounce back-and-forth
between having a working Firefox icon and having working system icons. I run
'gtk-update-icon-cache' after any and all changes.
- Rename ~/.local/share/icons/breeze to ~/.local/share/ico

[krita] [Bug 394139] Color History and Common Patches Show on Wrong Display

2018-05-22 Thread Kenneth Evans
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394139

This problem is more serious than I thought. I have had trouble using the
Advanced Color Selector. Part of the reason is that I don't see the color that
I am selecting, making it hard to choose the right color.

I am now seeing the reason is that it is also using the Color History
mechanism, and the preview patch doesn't appear on my display (when the
selector is docked in its default place on the right). If I float the Advanced
Color Selector, then I see there is a patch with the color I have chosen, the
previous color chosen, and the previous color used (I think).

Even then, sometimes the patches appear on the left and sometimes on the right.
When they appear on the right, which seems to be the usual case, then they are
all or mostly off screen when the docker is docked.

If I can get them to be on the left, then they often stay on the left when
re-docked. This is the behavior I would like, because they are then visible.
However, I don't know the steps to make this happen, and by default they are on
the right and not visible.

On my Surface Book, with only one display, the patches seem to appear on the
left when docked on the right, and there is no such problem.

Thus there appear to be several problems associated with having more than one
display:

1. Color History (H) appears on the wrong display.
2. The patches may appear on the left or the right of the Advanced Color
Picker, seemingly randomly. They need to be on the left if docked on the
right, and on the right if docked on the left to be seen. (I only use it on
the right myself.) The default seems to be to be on the right, possibly
because my other display is to the right of the one I am using.

As far as I can recall, all the other art programs I use (and there are
several) have the currently chosen color and also the secondary color on the
window with the color diagram where you click to choose the color; that is, not
floating. At least then it is always visible without these problems. However,
the way it is implemented you do get a larger color patch (if it just worked
right).

This is a serious problem because it interferes seriously with choosing a color
when you can't see the color you have chosen.

issue where the activity switcher would not hide anymore when
switching activities with the Meta-Tab global shortcut and
releasing the keys under one second.

This patch fixes this by unconditionnal toggling the activity
switcher visibility if it should be hidden, but keeping the
timestamp condition before showing it, so that both Meta-q and
Meta-Tab behaves correctly.

[okular] [Bug 377688] No output to print for PDF since update to 1.0.3

2018-05-22 Thread Ian Newton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377688

There may be something here in the output from the command line. Once the print
preview is requested we get:

Settings::instance called after the first use - ignoring
invalidfont -10
invalidfont -10
org.kde.okular.generators.spectre: Generated image does not match wanted size:
[0x0] vs requested [576x815]
QImage::scaled: Image is a null image
invalidfont -10
invalidfont -10
org.kde.okular.generators.spectre: Generated image does not match wanted size:
[0x0] vs requested [565x799]
QImage::scaled: Image is a null image
invalidfont -10
invalidfont -10
org.kde.okular.generators.spectre: Generated image does not match wanted size:
[0x0] vs requested [80x113]
QImage::scaled: Image is a null image

Surely any fonts not on the system should be substituted by local fonts? The
simpler qpdfview seems to print the same files OK I guess using local fonts and
can handle the image embed coding even if it is incorrect.

How is the the avahi-daemon.service involved? Is this a result of the
font/image issue where it seems to try to re-launch the daemon rather than
simply using the running instance?

Unfortuanatly I've already tried that, to no success. I've also tried using
different versions of both programs, both to previous updates, to newer ones,
and the result is still the same.
