Yep, this sounds like ktimezoned should move to KF5.

How are non-plasma users supposed to get correct timezones in e.g. PIM apps
otherwise?

This link is automatically added by mailman even if there is no archive.
That's why for kdepim-users I have explicitly added the link to the
archive at marc.info. Also, I have recently activated archiving for
kdepim-users. Maybe the same should be done for kde-core-devel. (CC'ing
its admins.)

One problem was that lists.kde.org used to be an alias for marc.info.
That gave people, who, for whatever reason, wanted one of their messages
to be removed from the archive, the impression that the archive was
hosted by us. Since we cannot delete anything from marc.info and
therefore cannot comply with deletion requests, the alias was removed to
avoid confusion and potential legal problems.

We should still probably alias it and deprecate 'kde', so that people
can start using the right name correctly.

The string is in Qt, AFAIR. It probably can't be changed until Qt 6 if
we don't want to mess with existing installations.

This is what I use:
export QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=kde

and you need the integration plugin installed. It used to be part of
Frameworks (frameworksintegration), it will be part of Plasma (but hopefully
still usable without).
The idea is that other desktop environments will provide their own integration
plugin, but I agree that there are use cases where this won't happen (run
application as root, run as another user, minor Qt-based desktop environments,
etc). That said, I'm just an user regarding Plasma stuff.

Our lists were not indexed by us, but on marc.info, for historical reasons
which I don't know. What I remember is recently the automatic aliasing of the
index to marc.info could not be kept and, while recent lists have all their
history on our servers, the older ones have still no archives. Ask sysadmins
for more details, but it's not an unknown issue.

KDE file dialog

2016-02-28 Thread Martin Koller
In KDE4 times there was a common file dialog for the applications, I think this
is what KFileDialog was made for.
Now where some applications are already ported to KF5, there seems to be no
such thing anymore
(or it does not work here).
KFileDialog is deprecated, QFileDialog does not have the functionality of
KFileDialog (e.g. aside preview).
As I find KFileWidget having e.g. preview possibility, I assume QFileDialog
would use this widget via
the platform integration, right ?
If so, does this only work when running plasma5 as desktop or is there a way to
get the KDE4 features
in KF5 application file dialogs even when running inside a KDE4 session ?

What is the official address ?

Here https://www.kde.org/support/mailinglists/
it says: https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-core-devel
and this pages says, the archives should be at
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-core-devel/

There's somewhere something wrong...

this was added because of ktimezoned, that is part of plasma-workspace to run
tests in kcalccore successfully. For further discussion see:
https://phabricator.kde.org/T1147

kcalcore is the needed package. But the Build runs successfully, don't see any
problems.

Btw. what is the difference between
https://build-sandbox.kde.org and https://build.kde.org
