[kde-freebsd] What happens?

2011-03-16 Thread echo name /dev/null echo surname /dev/null
Dear KDE team:
I've seen that has not yet released the update to KDE 4.6 and I think SC and
SC van for KDE 4.6.1, I've seen that has not been updated to version of Xfce
version 4.8 and apparently it is because teams have recently migrated to
udev / hal. I wonder if this is called freedom, namely desktop environments
like KDE, Gnome or Xfce are supposed to be free and freely distributed. So
why is it that the core team of these free projects just worry about linux?
and not other operating systems that do not use the implementation of udev /
hal? How is it possible that FreeBSD Forum
[See here: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=21043page=2]
has been an attempt to implement or something like udev in the FreeBSD
kernel to use these environments? What are we? Why such a monopoly with
linux? If KDE is really multiplatform How can this be allowed? I would like
to know what you think, and what you are doing to use KDE 4.6 on FreeBSD,
not just me but a crowd.

Cheers and have a nice evening, thank you for your attention.

This is affecting both desktop suites.

Please post the error log that way I don't have to throw a wild guess.

[kde-freebsd] screen resolution 1024x600 and KDE applications

2011-03-16 Thread Matthias Apitz

Hello,

A lot of so called netbooks have a limited screen resolution in high to
600 (1024x600 or even only 800x600); sometimes KDE applications have
subwindows, for example for configurations, which does not fit into the
high of 600, they have no scrollbars and I don't see how to move them up
to see the buttons for 'OK' or 'Cancel' :-(

Do I overlook something?

Thanks

matthias

You wrote freedom. If KDE, GNOME, Hfce decided to write a desktop for Linux
is this a FREE decission of the develpers.

It is mine opinion.

you can use alt + left click to move a window, dragging it from any position

in addition, from kde 4.5 you can drag a window clicking on most empty
(grey) zones

2011-03-16 Thread Super Bisquit
If kdeadmin4 is built without the printer configuration utility, then the
error is skipped.
Probably a few would want to do this but not all.

This is a Python issue. The update script for moving from 2.6 to 2.7
fails to re-install gobj-introspection and this results in several py-*
ports failing. Just re-install the gobj-introspection port and
everything will e fine.

[kde-freebsd] misc/kdeedu4 breaks with ocaml- powerpc.o not found

2011-03-16 Thread Super Bisquit
I am aware that the next part isn't supported but, just to see if it will
work.
I've switched to the work/ocaml directory and ran ./configure, the make
world make opt make install.

Exactly where it breaks is where a patch for powerpc should go. I'll reply
back to this message with that directory.
