  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.24-19-generic

It happened two times: a birthday reminder pops-up after kontact start, i
select Dismiss and then my e-mails are downloaded without asking my account
password (stored in kwallet). This way anyone could easily check my e-mails and
steal data.

Hugo: Sorry, I don't understand what you're doing in the settings dialog. Does
it only work if you enter it, leave it and then press then send button manually?

I'm not sure c#1 is related but I'll check both cases for kwallet bugs as soon
as I get to it.

Version:(using Devel)
Installed from:Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2 p1.1)

OS:Linux

Simply to reproduce:

1. rightclick on a folder in a IMAP account (only tested with IMAP)
2. Open properties dialog
3. Change the name of the folder -submit-

Kmail crashes, see bt below. The imap folder get's renamed funny enough, so
after the crash restarting Kmail is enough.

When I try to save an attachment, after navigating in directories, to choose
the one I want to save the file, I loose the filename of the attachment, and
need to input it.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or not, but I think it should keep the filename.

If I click on the systray icon of kontact (kmail) to minimize it, it is
successfully minimized.
But if I click on it to restore it again, it is displayed in the taskbar but
not on the desktop.
If I then click on the icon on the taskbar it is displayed.
If I click on ALT+F4 it is minimized to the systray (as wanted) and now, if I
click on the systray icon it is successfully restored...
I have disabled composite in X11 settings so I'm not running any desktop

I can't reproduce this, maybe that is because I'm running a KDE 3.5 desktop.

I think I fixed the wordwrap issue recently in r828900, see
http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=828900 (the hidden widget had small
width and thus incorrectly wrapped the text).

And for the vs. thing: There's already a bug report about this, see

It is a bit difficult for me to see if the other bugreports relates to this
one. But the problem is not existing for me in the 3.5.x version (I also have
3.5.9 installed)
The problem is on KDE4.0.85 only.
In fact the thing of a single notification icon was a good idea. I'm really
irritated of having akregator, korganizer and kmail. It there not be a single
icon counting everything, and if i.e. middleclicked it pops up the list of
modules with new items. Then you click on the one you want to activate, kontact
opens and displays the selected module.
Like the device monitor :-)

Bug #131843 was about the account dialog, not about the account wizard.

Timeouts are necessary so we don't confuse closed ports with slow servers.

CC'ing Torgny (I hope you don't mind!), maybe you can add a progress bar for

You could also activate kio_smtp in kdebugdialog, then you'll get the traffic
on the console.
We have problems determining the correct hostname for localhost, that is not
easily possible with Qt.
FYI, for me it sends: C: >> EHLO pc1.localnet <<

Try setting a fake hostname (either 127.0.0.1 or your real IP, or hostname if
you have one) in the SMTP configuration, maybe that'll help (I can't think of
another reason why the mail would be rejected).

OK, here's what dfaure suggested on IRC:

1. disable Qt's quitOnLastWindowClosed() in KMail and Kontact
2. Make it optional that KJobs do KGlobal::ref()/deref()
-> KJob::allowQuitWhileJobsAreRunning(bool)
3. KGlobal::deref() will then take care of quitting the event loop.
Both the mainwindows and the systemtray hold refs.

Instead of 1), it might also be possible to disable the WA_QuitOnClose flags
for KDE mainwindows.

I'll need to investigate which jobs shouldn't be killed when quitting KMail,
those jobs should call ref().

True, the KDE spellcheck language has no effect on KMail, it takes the language
from the identity settings.
Go to the identity settings and change the dictionary there.

I agree the KDE-wide setting should somehow be taken into account, but I'm not
sure how. If the KDE-wide setting is changed, we don't want to loose the
identity setting, which might be intentionally changed by the user.

Kevin, I actually agree with much of what you have said. However, being
abusive is not very constructive ;-)

We have to remember that much of FOSS development is done on a voluntary basis
so if developers choose to work on something else then that is their
prerogative.

As a user, I am very grateful to the developers for giving me an alternative to
MS domination. I haven't got the technical ability to program but I can, and
do, help by requesting features, identifying bugs and supporting other users.

However, I realise that the "community" are under no obligation to provide me
with exactly the features I require. I can always choose another application!

So, if you are able to program then I am sure the KDE team would welcome your
help.

SVN commit 830027 by tmcguire:

Fix detection when to quit the main loop, by disabling Qt's
quitOnLastWindowClosed(),
which would cause KMail to exit when the user OK'd a message box while KMail was
mimimized to the systray.

Implement cancelMailCheck() for POP accounts, so that those stop when quitting
KMail.

Also abort mail checks when using File->Quit in the menu and the systray is
active.

Version:(using Devel)
Installed from:Compiled sources
OS:Linux

When I have for example five incoming messages, kmail starts filtering and
moves around those messages according to the defined filters. But if, for
example, the second message does not have a filter set (and should therefore
stay in the main inbox folder), then filtering just stops, leaving the other
new messages unfiltered. Kmail should continue filtering the remaining messages
even it doesn't find a filter for one specific message.
Another case is when I've set new filters and selected all my messages in my
inbox and I run the filters, it stops as soon as it finds a message that
doesn't match any filter.
Thanks for your help.

OK, filtering IMAP message which stay in the same folder will simply not work
with GMail, because of their idiotic duplicate prevention.
Filtering works the following way:

1. KMail copies the IMAP messages to a local folder
2. KMail filters the message in the local folder
3. KMail moves the filtered message from the local folder to the IMAP folder
4. KMail deletes the original message from the IMAP folder

Because GMail prevents duplicate messages, step 3) will fail (although the new
message has an additional header). Please complain about this to Google.

The other problem is that filtering stops when encountering such a problem.
This is being worked on, but the patch won't make it into 4.1.

I re-tested this, and it works for me. If you have multiple identities, and you
turn on the identity and the dictionary combobox in the composer, you'll even
see that the dictionary changes when changing identity.

Maybe it doesn't work for you because you're using the openSuse version, and
they didn't backport some spellcheck-related fixes.

this. Do you know if the patch you mentioned will be ready for one of the 4.1.x

I can't reproduce this. It looks like the actual problem is that KMail tries to
save the addressbook after composer is closed, but that fails for some reason
due to a bug in the KABC library.

Still happens with 4.0.85. It does not always happen from the first time
though: switching the setting between Always and Never a few times (without
even closing the dialog, just clicking on the Apply button in between), should
be enough to trigger this bug after two or three times.

It seems drkonqi is broken on Mandriva currently, so I cannot get a backtrace
at all anymore (at the console it says "Unable to start dr. konqi"). Is there
a way to disable drkoni completely and just use plain gdb? Then I can provide
you a full backtrace.

[Bug 149413] New: Fetching emails with POP3 is a noop

2008-07-09 Thread linux
Hi,

I have the same problem with KDE 3.5.9 just after having upgraded from
openSUSE 10.2 to 11.0 .

B4 had no problem.

The most strange is that root and one user don't have the problem while the
main user and others, for testing purposes created, have the problem.

Those which do not have the problem don't show the tooltip beneath KMail (like
an electrical plug).

>From root, i compared some files of both users having the problem with others
of the user and root who don't have the problem but cannot fin a consequent
difference among them.

In fact, if You wd advise me which file manages that tooltip, i could better
look into the differences and, hence, help to discover the "why".

BRgds

Jacek Boboli

PS Yes, I know, dont surf on internet under root. Just did it to check whether
as root the problem occured.

Please don't write to the kdepim-bugs list directly; add comments to the bug
report instead by using the web interface of bugs.kde.org. This list is just
for interested people who want to get notifications about bug reports by mail.

Thanks,
Thomas

[Bug 166180] New: Kontact on Mac OS locks out input in VMWare

2008-07-09 Thread Katrina Niolet
--- You are receiving this mail because: ---
You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166180
Summary: Kontact on Mac OS locks out input in VMWare
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: katrina niolet name

Version:(using KDE 4.0.80)
Installed from:Unlisted Binary Package
Compiler: xcode 3
OS:OS X

The password input dialog is locking the secure input method on Mac OS X and
not releasing it, which disables input in VMWare Fusion. Documentation about
this feature can be found at:
http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2007/tn2150.html

This can be reproduced by turning off 'Store IMAP Password' for an account,
then checking mail and entering your password and pressing return. Then try
typing into VMWare Fusion.

Kontact locking the secure input can also be verified by running: ioreg -l -w 0
| grep SecureInput

Even if kontact is killed, it seems to still keep this lock in place with a
reboot appearing to be the only way to unlock it. This has been verified on at
least 3 computers running OS X 10.5.

This is likely related to the calls to qt_mac_secure_keyboard(bool) (which is
defined in qapplication_mac.cpp) in QLineEdit::setEchoMode(),
QLineEdit::focusInEvent(), and QLineEdit::focusOutEvent().

There must be something more to it. It is impossible to open the wallet without
the password as that password is used to decrypt the previously encrypted
wallet file. Maybe the wallet was already open by some other application when
you clicked the dismiss button?
