I have this in v 1.10.0 (kde4.1) very often. Sometimes deleting doesn't work
(like described above) and sometimes old already deleted messages come back
after a restart and cannot be deleted.

SVN commit 841594 by tmcguire:

Invalidate the folder when encountering a zero serial number.
I have still no idea why the serial number was zero in the first
place, but at least this fixes the problem that those messages
could not be displayed.

When you open Kontact, Kmail open in a separate window. As if they were two
separate applications. This happens every time and doesn't matter Kontact or
Kmail has been running before or not.

This only happens with KDE4 desktop. When you open Kontact in Gnome everything
is fine.

Re #5: I don't agree. It does not only happen, when the composer was open. I
don't have the problem with kmail, even when the composer was used. KMail
always starts. Except when I use kontact.

It doesn't matter what I do - once I have startet kontact I have to do a
killall kontact to be able to use kmail or kontact again (even if I just
opened kontact and immediately close it).
