If you install the "kdepim-dbg" package you can get more information about the
crash. The current trace is not really useful.
Thanks

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in
the crash.

Thanks for reporting this bug. The version of KMail you're reporting on is
outdated now. The current version for Windows is supplied by kdab/Kolab and
available under:
https://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Kontact_for_Windows_(beta-huge-debug)

The KDE on Windows project currently doesn't provide builds for the KDE Pim
module. I'm marking the bug as invalid because the project is currently
maintained outside of KDE. Please currently report any bugs KMail/Windows bugs
directly to the Kolab project.

This patch seems to fix this problem. The modification made is based on the

reason why they behave differently.

You can test in 4.2.2 and let me know. But it would be really nice if you can
compile and test the trunk as mcguire has committed the change just few hours
ago. Otherwise provide your environment information(account type, filter
details, mail details, etc.) so someone else can also test it.

Created an attachment (id=32701)

decodeRFC2047String.patch

I'm using a copy of trunk/KDE/kdepimlibs/kimap/rfccodecs.cpp in my private
project. I've done only minimal modifications for it to integrate into a
non-KDE environment.

The following code fails:

QByteArray input = "From: =?UTF-8?B?UGF2ZWwgS29sw6HFmQ==?= ";
qDebug() << input << KIMAP::decodeRFC2047String( input );
input = "From: =?UTF-8?B?SmFuIEt1bmRyw6F0?= ";
qDebug() << input << KIMAP::decodeRFC2047String( input );
input = "From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Jan_Kundr=E1t?= ";
qDebug() << input << KIMAP::decodeRFC2047String( input );
input = "Subject:
=?utf-8?b?YmzDqXNtcnQgxJvFocSNxZnFvsO9w6HDrcOpIOygoO2IrOyXkOyEnA==?=\n"
 "=?utf-8?b?IOyekOuwlOulvCDsgqzsmqntlZjripQg6rKD7JeQIOuMgO2VnA==?=\n"
 "=?utf-8?b?IOyCrOyaqeyekOyZgCDqsJzrsJzsnpDrpbwg7JyE7ZWc?=\n"
 "=?utf-8?b?IOyngOy5qOyEnA==?=";
qDebug() << input << KIMAP::decodeRFC2047String( input );

What I got with version from KDE:

"From: =?UTF-8?B?UGF2ZWwgS29sw6HFmQ==?= " "From:  "
"From: =?UTF-8?B?SmFuIEt1bmRyw6F0?= " "From:
"
"From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Jan_Kundr=E1t?= " "From:

"Subject: =?utf-8?b?YmzDqXNtcnQgxJvFocSNxZnFvsO9w6HDrcOpIOygoO2IrOyXkOyEnA==?=

=?utf-8?b?IOyCrOyaqeyekOyZgCDqsJzrsJzsnpDrpbwg7JyE7ZWc?=
=?utf-8?b?IOyngOy5qOyEnA==?=" "Subject:

"

What was the correct result (a lot of funny Unicode characters follows):

"From: =?UTF-8?B?UGF2ZWwgS29sw6HFmQ==?= " "From: Pavel Kolář
"
"From: =?UTF-8?B?SmFuIEt1bmRyw6F0?= " "From: Jan Kundrát

These data are taken from read-world mails (some of them were in fact generated

[Bug 189122] New: A "Select Email Address" dialog is continually shown

2009-04-08 Thread Eric Kincl
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189122

   Summary: A "Select Email Address" dialog is continually shown
   Product: kontact
   Version: 1.4.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: e...@kincl.net

Version:   1.4.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) "release 111",
KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler:  gcc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27.19-3.2-default

This is actually a few bugs/undesired behavior in 1...

I have a few contacts in my addressbook with multiple email addresses. When
selecting them in the contact list view a dialog appears asking me to "Select
email address" with radio buttons next to each of their email addresses...

Here is the first bit of undesired behavior - I have no idea why the
application is asking me this. There is no apparent reasoning why I must
immediately choose one of the contacts email addresses, and no information is
given as to what I am doing with the email address I choose - I could be
setting it as default, deleting it, sending spam to it

Once I click "ok" the bug bit of this arises - I am immediately greeted with
the exact same prompt. It seems to like to re-open itself either 1, 3, or 5
times before finally going away. Sometimes it will re-trigger itself after a
few seconds. (Probably due to some interaction on my part, although I haven't
been able to narrow it down yet.)

The final bit of this whole issue comes in when I select multiple contacts at
once and one or more of them have multiple email addresses, as the issue
triggers for each contact with several addresses. When selecting several
contacts the dialog likes to re-open a lot more as well.

As far as troubleshooting, I have removed the second email address and all
works fine until I re-add it. I have taken a contact with no email and added
several emails and the bug rears its head. This is a somewhat annoying bug for
me, but potentially a deal-breaker for anyone with lots of contacts with
multiple email addresses per.

I can confirm that if imap resource functionality is disabled, we can't select
option to delete invitations. But not sure if that is wrong behavior.

I don't have anything that extreme on the imap account i have that has 10k or
something of email, but there is a delay for no new messages. I suspect further
optimizations could be done here. My distributed imap accounts are smaller, and
don't seem to delay, but I'd have to set up some stuff to better test that.

using 1.11.90ish svn

Version:(using KDE 4.2.2)

When KDE runs for several days either continuously, or suspended sometimes, and
kmail is also running during this long session, so that several days pass, then
finally, i have to realize, that kmail shows yesterday as today, the day before
yesterday as yesterday, and today with absolute dates, etc. These things should
be recalculated every time, when kmail recognizes that the date has changed
since it's last "conscious" moment, or something like that. BTW, I'm using
offline IMAP.

I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird as my favourite E-Mail Client for some
time, but since I like the idea of a complete PIM-Suite I would like to sitch
to KMail / Kontact.

Since I use several E-Mail Accounts, I only miss the feature of creating a
seperate folder hierarchy for each account, as it is possible with Thunderbird.

Is there any chance for such a feature to be realized?
