desktop, it has only read permissions but when we save as, it has write
permission as well.

I could reproduce on 1.11.2 but didn't get backtrace. I got following when
running from konsole.

# kmail --nofork
Enchant dict for en_US 0x8ac5e70
Enchant dict for en_US 0x8c95fa8
*** KMail got signal 11 (Crashing)
Alarm clock

I followed following steps:
1. Removed saved password from sending account.
2. Sent reply to one of the mail.
3. It asked me to enter password.
4. Instead of entering password, I went to main kmail window and cancelled
sending process from bottom right progress bar.
5. Canceled password prompt.
6. Crash

[Bug 189441] New: Backup kmail/mail-dir mails to fat/vfat filesystem on usb stick not possible

2009-04-12 Thread Toni
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189441

Summary: Backup kmail/mail-dir mails to fat/vfat filesystem on
usb stick not possible
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.9.9
  Platform: Debian stable
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: lukas...@freenet.de

Version: 1.9.9 (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Debian stable Packages

Situation:
--
- Mails stored kmail in maildir format use special characters (at least comma
and colon). E.g. 1120923112.4769.TEuXE:2,R

- Current usb sticks are mostly formatted with fat/vfat file system

Problem:

fat/vfat isn't able to store files with at least the colon character, so you
aren't able to backup kmail mails on usb stick out of the box.

Fix:

I know that problem (or at least the restriction) concerns to the old Windows
(v)fat format, there would be no problem if usb sticks would use a better file
system. I know also that one can work around it (pack mails into tar file,
...).

But apart from the fact that the above mentioned restriction means also
compatibility (least common denominator regarding the charset): Is it really
necessary to use these special chars in the file names? User don't have to deal
with these files directly, so readability isn't necessary. On the other side
software doesn't (at least in principle) matter wether there's a colon or an
x, y or z.

Or is it a requirement of the maildir format?

Suggestion: Avoid special chars in filenames if it isn't necessary

[Bug 189446] New: threaded views with duplicate messages

2009-04-12 Thread H . H .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189446

Summary: threaded views with duplicate messages
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.90
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: cyberb...@gmx.de

Version: 1.11.90 (using 4.2.69 (KDE 4.2.69 (KDE 4.3 = 20090406))
release 1.3, KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.11-0.1-pae

I like the new feature of threads in kmail/kde4. but it would be nice, to have
the possibility to show messages multiple-times, for example

- mail 2 of thread 1 from today 9:31
- mail 1 of thread 2 from today 9:10
- mail 1 of thread 1 from 3 days ago
mail 2 of thread 1 from today 9:31 (this is the same as the first one)

So I would have the advantages of having an overview about the conversation,
but new messages would be appear on top, which is also very important.

4.2.2 with patches from 4.2 branch/Qt4.5. Several POP3 accounts all delivering
to the same set of local folders.

I just found that I am unable to reply to mails stored in Sent items. This is
actually quite a regression for me - sometimes I find myself in position to add
something to already sent message and now the only way is to copy into some
other folder and do Reply there.

This definitely worked before, even in 4.2, so it seems recent regression.

I cannot change the shown columns for one single folder, which is annoying
because it obliges me to have sender and receiver columns activated all the
time, because sender serves in nearly every mail folder, while receiver serves
in sent-mail and outbox.

If I uncheck receiver somewhere in one mail folder, it disappears for every
folder, inclusive sentmail and outbox.

Summary: Kadressbook selecting an entry does not work with kde
single click
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Mandriva RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: pantou...@blauhaus.org

Version:(using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Mandriva RPMs

In Kadressbook you have a list of contacts on the left side. In double click
mode, o contact is displayed in the right window on a single click and opened
for editing on a double click. In single click mode, both operations are
processed always. You cannot just display the contact in the main window.

In kmail - for comparison - the behavior ist in a double click way, even with
kde single click mode. This behavior is better and could be applicable to
kaddressbook

(The Bug is also filed on the mandriva Bugtracker for 2009.1)

i don't think this can be mandriva bug, but we use some backport patches so i
think more that this is a regression because of those patches ( as fedora isn't
synced with branch )

[Bug 189480] Cannot change columns in mailview for one folder

2009-04-12 Thread Stefan G
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189480

--- Comment #1 from Stefan G Goettschwan gmx de 2009-04-12 20:22:42 ---
After talking to a friend, I got a heads-up to the possibility of using
rightclick on folder- properties - show column.
IMHO this is a bit hidden, and to know that it only works with the
sender/receiver column even more so.
Maybe this could be implemented into a rightclick on the column header?

Nonetheless, the problem persists that I cannot sort one folder by time and
another by sender, sort options seem global for all folders.
