[Bug 192539] New: crash because of two instances of kontact

2009-05-13 Thread Rico Zienke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=192539

Summary: crash because of two instances of kontact
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: zon...@web.de

Version:(using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

Hi,
I'm not sure whether it belongs two report 180288. My symptom is another.
It started with bug report 191193. Now I think the plasma applet is okay. It
might be an issue of Kontact. As suggested in 191193 I open another one for it
and paste the relevant stuff inside this one:
Best Regards Rico

After each start up I get a message that kontact is already started. The
question in the popup is then open or close. When I press open I have two
instances when I press close, no one.
Could it be that kontact has issues when it uses Kawallet?
Maybe it causes side effects on the widget.

When i press open after the popup (kontact is already started) and close then
one window Kontact crashes:

[Bug 192480] response time regression in kde 4.2.3

Now, in the morning, when many users are simultaneously connected to the IMAP
server, kmail becomes so unresponsive, that I'm almost unable to scroll the
incoming messages, and even typing a new messages suffers almost seconds of
delays.

Now i can read encrypted messages, but still i can't sign. I guess this means
that the pinentry stuff is correctly installed and you will finally admit it is
a bug... The message i get now when i try to sign is that the recipient doesn't
have encryption preferences. Am i supposed to set those preferences for each
item in my address book? I'll be old when i finish...

Calm down :-) I had exactly the same problem as this for some time. After long
investigation it turned out that something on my keyring was corrupt. It's
simple enough to test for this. Back up your keyring, then remove gpg from
your system, and start afresh so that it creates an empty keyring. Import your
own public key, and replace your private keyring from the backup file. If
signing now works there is a corruption in the old keyring.

As for the message about contacts, I don't know whether it is connected with
the other problem, or whether it is a distro-specific problem. I've never seen
it. Try the new-keyring solution first.

[Bug 192562] New: Big memory usage of knotes

2009-05-13 Thread FiNeX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=192562

Summary: Big memory usage of knotes
   Product: knotes
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: fi...@finex.org

From KDE System activity, knotes is using 31704K of Memory (17192K of shared
Mem). More than Konqueror or Plasma-desktop (about 28000K and 25000K). It seems
a bit too much.
Each time I add a new note, the memory usage grown about 1M.

P.S: I've 25 notes stored on knotes, each note contains very few lines of text.
P.P.S: I'm using Qt 4.5.1 and KDE from trunk r967367

I can confirm the same issue in the Debian packages, kmail 4.2.2 (Debian
version 4:4.2.2-1).

The sort by arrival date option is really important if you don't want to miss
new mail in a big folder! otherwise, newly incoming emails whose time/date is
not correct land way down in your folder and they mix up with other unread
emails.

Please describe exactly what you have done - removed and reinstalled gpg?
started a new, clean key-ring? re-installed pinentry-qt? Especially, describe
the 'contact editing' that you did. Plus anything else that might have a
bearing on this. The more information you can give, the better your chances of
finding the problem and fixing it.

I deleted the ~/.gnupg directory. Then i imported my public key from keyserver
and then i copied private keys.
Then i opened kaddressbook, opened myself contact and set openpgp/mime in
cryptographic settings.
Then i tried to sent to myself a signed mail, and the old and familiar bad
passphrase without the asking dialog first appeared.

  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: christophe.dela...@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.2.3)
Compiler: gcc version 4.3.2 20081105 (Red Hat 4.3.2-7) (GCC)

OS:Linux
Installed from:Fedora RPMs

I have a place defined that is a fish URL. Using Dolphin, I can access it
jsut as expected. For example, splitting the display and copying files from a
local folder to the remote fish folder works perfectly.

In kmail (standalone or embedded in kontact) I experience a crash when I try to
save an attachment from a mail to that place. I right-click on the attachment,
select save as and point to the remote place. It asks for the login/password,
and then crashes while retrieving the content of the folder (as much as I can
judge). I tried several times, and I often saw the progress bar going up to 50%
just before the crash.

Saving the attachment to a local directory copying the file to the fish folder
in Dolphin works fine.

Below is the stack trace.
Cheers,
Christophe.

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in
the crash.

[Bug 192596] New: kmail lock file remains after shutdown and causes problems for restart

2009-05-13 Thread Praedor Tempus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=192596

Summary: kmail lock file remains after shutdown and causes
problems for restart
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: prae...@yahoo.com

Version: 1.11.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Mandriva Linux release
2009.1 (Cooker) for i586)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.29.1-desktop-4mnb

I always run kontact. I have kde set to restart any apps I have running when I
shutdown. When I restart/relogin, kmail keeps producing an error message
warning that another instance of kmail appears to be running and to not start
kmail unless I am certain another instance is not running. It is NOT running,
it is a fresh login or startup - it SHOULD simply be restarting. If I elect
not to start kmail, then no kmail starts at all. If I go ahead and start
kmail, I then get two instances of kmail at the same time. Shutting down one
brings down both. I have since found that no matter what I do, upon
login/restart, a lock file remains in the ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail directory
regardless of whether or not I shutdown or logged out properly.

[Bug 179997] can't sign mails with gpg

2009-05-13 Thread Anne Wilson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179997

--- Comment #13 from Anne Wilson cannewilson googlemail com 2009-05-13
20:41:59 ---
(In reply to comment #12)
I deleted the ~/.gnupg directory. Then i imported my public key from keyserver
and then i copied private keys.
Then i opened kaddressbook, opened myself contact and set openpgp/mime in
 cryptographic settings.
Then i tried to sent to myself a signed mail, and the old and familiar bad
passphrase without the asking dialog first appeared.

Have you set up Configure KMail Identities (Highlight identity) Modify
Cryptography tab? You need to set your key for both signing and encrypting if
you are going to use both.

[Bug 168327] Knode trashes articles when using UTF-16 encoding

2009-05-13 Thread Olivier Trichet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=168327

--- Comment #2 from Olivier Trichet nive nivalis org 2009-05-13 20:58:23 ---
Hello Michael,

I just did the same test as you (actually I reply to your test message) and I
admit it was weird, but I think the result was ok.

I says it's ok because the body of the sent message was really the UTF-16 body
that was send ; and knode read it.
Please note that the view source option decodes the message as a full us-ascii
message, and because you sent the message with a 8bit transfer encoding, this
is why you only garbage there.

Anyways, I'm still unsure if it's a bug and what would be the bug here. Sending
UTF-16 is a really strange idea.

As for the header view where only Mickeal was shown, I suspect this is a
problem on the server side.

PS : I did the test with a pre-KDE 4.3 release.

which are set as identity sent mail folders.

SVN commit 967749 by tmcguire:

When doing online IMAP filtering of messages that actually do not exist,
don't crash.
This happens if the sernum of some messages were stored in the unfiltered
config file.
During filtering, the message listing was finished, and those messages were
removed from
the index, as they were no longer on the server.

[Bug 189464] Unable to reply to messages in Sent folder

2009-05-13 Thread Thomas McGuire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189464

--- Comment #12 from Thomas McGuire mcguire kde org 2009-05-13 23:59:37 ---
As this bugs seems popular, here a little explanation:

We unfortunately introduced this regression with KDE 4.2.3, because the reply
action was in the toolbar, but not in the context menu. Therefore the action
was removed from the context menu, to make it more consistent.
Turns out many people actually reply to messages in sent-mail folders, which we
didn't anticipate.

So we reverted that behavior and added the reply action back to the toolbar and
the context menu.

This fix will be in KDE 4.2.4 and in KDE 4.3 beta 1.
