I have only the imap resource for my addressbook. I did not try to reproduce
it, but I can if you wish.

Do you have *just* your imap resource ?

I can easily reproduce the cpu load with the Birthday resource but I can't
reproduce the crash yet. (I got something different)

[Bug 193293] New: kaddressbook repeatedly asks for standard email

2009-05-19 Thread rosenauer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193293

Summary: kaddressbook repeatedly asks for standard email
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: rosena...@gmx.at

Version: 1.11.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.29-3.slh.1-sidux-amd64

Wjem starting Kontact with an addressbook that contains entries with multiple
entries and selecting a contact with multiple e-mail addresses, kaddressbook
often repeatedly asks for the default email of the last edited contact.

I have to press OK 2-3 times, and when selecting another contact I have to do
the same again for the previous contact.

Using v4.2.2-1 from debian sid (Sidux) x64, running inside Kontact.
Using kaddressbook in stand-alone mode produces the same issue, just search
for/select a contact with multiple e-mail addresses and the popup-horror
begins...,-)

[Bug 193252] Kmail crashed while emptying trash

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193252

--- Comment #2 from J P Porter 2009-05-19 19:51:47 ---
I am not able to replicate the trash crash problem, but a problem that cropped
up earlier (and seemed to happen just before the trash crash) persists - I
cannot send out email with kmail. I was getting an error report citing a
missing attachment, but now kmail doesn't seem to be able to communicate with
my server to send email. (I am receiving mail just fine.)

attached below is the Konsole data generated as I tried to replicate the trash
crash, and the subsequent inability to send mail.

I think this is a general KDE4 issue. At least the behaviour with okular is the
same. So probably the product should be adjusted.

Ok, last couple of times it was every time the INBOX folder of my main dIMAP
account. Mainly triggered by walking through the folders and marking threads as
read (via a shortcut I set on ctrl-R).

Maybe some spam filtering issue? I use bogofilter...

The repository containing the KDE 4.2 packages also contains Qt 4.5.1 packages,
so it is pretty safe to say that he is using Qt 4.5.1 since an upgrade with
those repos available would upgrade both Qt and KDE.

@rhein: your crash is probably related to bug 175144.
@Santiago J. Flores: your crash is probably related to bug 185544.
Both and Jeremy Cribb: If you can reproduce the crash at will (or you
experience this regularly), may you read
http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
and post a complete backtrace in a NEW REPORT? Thanks!!

[Bug 193166] Message Templates not working after an upgrade from KDE 3.5.x

--- Comment #2 from Hrishikesh Mehendale (हृषीकेश मेहेंदळे) 2009-05-19 18:34:50 ---
After further digging (templates were being picked up only for some folders,
which made me look), it seems that an upgrade caused the "Use Custom Templates"
flag to be set PER-folder (I'm using D-IMAP with Exchange) using the default
templates. (I had never manually set this).

Strangely enough, after saving the new templates and restarting Kmail, the
correct templates are being picked up.

So it seems that
(a) If I upgrade from KDE 3.5.x -> KDE 4.2 the templates don't work till you
modify and save them (subject to "c" below).
(b) Saving them will not apply them immediately.
(c) Save the templates and restart Kmail, and the templates will work.

If you can reproduce at will, could you try starting KMail from Konsole and
then, when it crashes, pasting here the console output? (specially the "ASSERT"
line).
Thanks

Sure. I hesitated and thought it was related to the same problem so only filed
one report. BTW, after several attempt at syncing and crashing, the problem
went away. I guess KMail somehow managed to fix the cache / index.

It's related to this bug : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193212

My computer crashed and then I guess the cache / index was in a bad state.
KMail should avoid crashing though.

In this case, it's when right clicking on "Repair imap cache" (or something
like that, it's in french here) and clicking on one of the two option "rebuid
index" or "refresh cache" (just clicking them, no need to hit ok).

Another crash when I try to refresh the cache :

Oh, and it should be pointed out that in the downstream bug, the reporter said
that this only happens with kontact + kmail, and not kmail on its own.

@Gael Beaudoin: the last backtrace is different from the first one. Could you
please file a new bug report about it ? (politics here are: one report per
issue).

The first backtrace looks related to bug 192815

Thanks

We have received a report about this crash at https://launchpad.net/bugs/378232
in regards to KDE 4.2.3.
Steps to reproduce are:
* write a mail with an attachement that is greater than approx 1MB, just to
ensure the sending process needs some time.
* click on send, the mail comes into the outbox, kmail/kontact starts sending.
* close Kontact WHILE sending the mail.

This looks related to bug 181318 and bug 179216, which are both related to the
gpg version. Try to update the gpg packages to the latest available.
Thanks

[Bug 193224] New: kontact crashed when changing form akonadir resource to imap resource in kaddressbook

2009-05-19 Thread Christian Trippe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193224

Summary: kontact crashed when changing form akonadir resource
to imap resource in kaddressbook
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: christiande...@web.de

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.0 pre
KDE Version: 4.2.86 (KDE 4.2.86 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090514)) "release 125"
Qt Version: 4.5.1
Operating System: Linux 2.6.27.21-0.1-default i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 11.1 (i586)"

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I tried to use the akonadi resource for my adressbook (via imap). But then the
akonadiserver took all my cpu. So I wanted to change back to the imap resource
and deactivate the akonadi one. -> Crash of kontact

Same observation as Fabio Coatti. Always happens when starting up KMail. I
believe that it first appeared after upgrading from Kubuntu 8.10 to Kubuntu
9.04. My workaround is to start up KMail and do something else for 10 minutes
until it finishes.

[Bug 193212] New: Crash when deleting an email

2009-05-19 Thread Gael Beaudoin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193212

Summary: Crash when deleting an email
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ga...@gaboo.org

Version:(using KDE 4.2.3)
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

I can reproduce. It crashes when I try to delete some email. Maybe this is
important to know that my computer froze just before while kmail was syncing a
disconnected imap account.

It also crashes when I try to fix the imap cache and check the "rebuild index"
option.

See the backtrace :
