[Bug 197344] New: Need function to export/import kmail's settings, or to synchronize settings between kmail instances running on several computers

2009-06-21 Thread Stefan Kebekus
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197344

Summary: Need function to export/import kmail's settings, or to
synchronize settings between kmail instances running
on several computers
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.4
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: stefan.kebe...@web.de

Version: 1.11.4 (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4) release 2, KDE:42 /
openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.23-0.1-default

I use kmail for my work. I have installations of kmail at my workplace, on my
business laptop and on a computer of a department that I am frequently
visiting. While using the disconnected IMAP feature to sychronize the
mailboxes works great for me, I have the problem that I need to manually
synchronize the kmail settings. For instance, when my office phone number
changes, I need to go to every single installation and edit the signature
field in the identity dialog.

It would save me a lot of work if there was a mechanism that could synchronize
the settings between several installations of kmail. If a full-blown
synchronization mechanism seems too complicated, even a simple export/import
settings feature would be of great help.

Thank you for your great work!

Stefan Kebekus.

[Bug 197241] kontact abort on close from KMKernel::cleanup

2009-06-21 Thread Stefan Usenbinz

--- Comment #2 from Stefan Usenbinz usenbinz gmx de 2009-06-21 10:47:26 ---
Hmm, the transferInProgress assertion surely is the same. The steps to
reproduce already vary in 156991. I was neither sending or saving mail (but
tried to retrieve my mails from the server; just a different type of transfer)
nor am I using DIMAP, but standard IMAP. So there just to be many ways to
trigger the same bug.
I am currently using Kubuntu KDE 4.2.4 packages and Qt 4.5.0, so it is
certainly nothing that would have been fixed by Qt 4.5.

Could you please be more descriptive? What is ugly? Can you give an example of
the Mozilla behaviour and explain why it is preferable?

Thanks.

It sounds like you should be editing with an HTML editor. If the text is
converted to plain text, then that is how it will be replied. There has been a
strong backlash against Kmail in the past for replying to HTML mail in plain
text.

[Bug 197382] New: DIMAP: Creating and moving a folder is allowed, but not dragging

2009-06-21 Thread Dennis Schridde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197382

Summary: DIMAP: Creating and moving a folder is allowed, but
not dragging
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: linde...@gmx.net

Version:(using KDE 4.2.90)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.3 Gentoo 4.3.3-r2 p1.2, pie-10.1.5
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

I am using a DIMAP account and can create folders in the main namespace
(rightclick on the account-folder, create new - a new folder shows up in the
hierarchy right below the account-folder).
I can also rclick on an existing folder and choose move - account-folder and
it will be moved.
However, dragging an existing folder onto the account-folder will result in the
denied icon (red stroked circle) and the folder can not be moved this way.

issue?)

I just disabled include in manual fetch and fetch regularly in the account
options of several of my DIMAP and POP3 accounts, and since then KMail runs
havoc.
It fetches emails from all those accounts in an infinite loop, without any
pause in between. (Probably checking each account at least once per second for
new mail.)

Qt Version: 4.5.1

Distribution: openSUSE 11.1 (x86_64)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Kontact just crashed on me, for the first time in ages...apart from the
system-information provided the only thing I can think of what I had been doing
during that session is using the kmail and knode components. Contacts, summary,
notes, and kjots were enabled but had not been in use. Akgregator was not
active within Kontact but running as stand-alone.

When Kontact was actively running I didn't encounter any problems. It only
crashed when I shut it down. I briefly saw some clean-up and compacting
dialogues but they vanished too quickly for me to see what they said (that is,
I don't know if there were any problems reported in them).

The crash does not seem to have caused any data-loss and I have been unable to
recreate the problem.

I wonder if this could be related to bug 191091.
Do you think you can reproduce the crash at will?
Thanks

 Thanks

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 174244 ***

Are you sure it's a duplicate?

The reasons why I wonder is:

1. #174244 is for KDE 4.1.x series, and not what will become 4.3.x. That is,
the bug is at least one major release-number away.
2. #174244, from what it looks to me at least (considering it's the 4.1.x
series), potentially involves Qt 4.3.x rather than 4.5.x.
3. #174244 states it's a regular occurence. My report is not.
4. #196115 also states that even when it doesn't crashes, it consumes 100% of
one core. That also doesn't happen here.

By #1-4, I would find it likely that the crashes are related but not
necessarily duplicates (although they can still be that, of course, assuming
the same problem persists between Qt 4.3.x through 4.5.1 and/or KDE 4.1.x and
4.3 beta2).

The backtrace is the same as bug 196115 (even line numbers). Bug 190578 looks
also related. May be they are really new cases and not related to bug 174244
Unfortunately, some bugs can persist from older versions.
Er... I will reopen this until we get more information, or until some dev can
look at the report.
Thanks

[Bug 197458] New: GPGME++ doesn't work with GPGME 1.2.0

2009-06-21 Thread Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197458

   Summary: GPGME++ doesn't work with GPGME 1.2.0
   Product: kdepimlibs
   Version: 4.2
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: gpgme++
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: arfrever@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.2.4)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

GPGME++ doesn't work with GPGME 1.2.0. This problem can be reproduced e.g. by
not working signing of e-mails in KMail.

GPGME++ should call gpgme_check_version() before using gpgme_new().

The NEWS file from GPGME 1.2.0 contains:
 * gpgme_new will fail if gpgme_check_version was not called, or
a selftest failed (for example, if -mms-bitfields was not
   used on MingW32 targets).

Summary: Attempt reading 'user' folder in imap
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.4
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: maednol...@mail.ru

Version: 1.11.4 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS:Linux
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

My IMAP server is Cyrus. I user KDE 4.2.4. I use local subscription for my IMAP
account.

I have permissions to view messages of one (another than me) user. Its folder
is user.infost. In the account settings namespace for other users is set to
'user.'.

When I try to get mail from my IMAP server, the error occurs on reading the
folder user. I cannot unselect the user folder from subscriptions because it
does not have checkbox in subscription dialog.

Earlier (a week ago) KMail did not try to check mail in user folder. This error
appeared after the update from KDE:/42 openSuSE repository.
