[Bug 201174] New: Exiting KMail with active IMAP jobs causes crash

2009-07-22 Thread Malte S . Stretz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201174

Summary: Exiting KMail with active IMAP jobs causes crash
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-bug...@msquadrat.de

Application that crashed: kmail
Version of the application: 1.12.0
KDE Version: 4.2.96 (KDE 4.2.96 (KDE 4.3 RC2))
Qt Version: 4.5.0
Operating System: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.04

What I was doing when the application crashed:
This might be related to the dreaded bug 163071: If you trigger an IMAP action
like deleting a bunch of mails from your inbox, and exit KMail while those
aren't finished yet, it will crash.

After a restart, it seems like those ,essages were already copied to Trash, but
weren't deleted from my inbox.

I'm not sure to understand, you're talking about the tags ? (family,
business...)

If so, I have no problem to assign a custom tag to a filter (filter actions/Add
tag/) or to filter emails depending on their tag (Match all/Message
Tag/contains/).

[Bug 201151] New: All KMail settings lost when disk full, Kontact crashes

2009-07-22 Thread Jeffrey G Thomas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201151

Summary: All KMail settings lost when disk full, Kontact
crashes
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: eljefedel...@gmail.com

Version: unknown (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-1-686

I cannot say if this would have happened with KMail stand-along or not, so I am
filing this with Kontact/Mail.

My /home/ partition filled up today during a download, and when Kontact went to
check for new email the drive was full and Kontact crashed.

When I cleaned up space and restarted Kontact:

1. All of my email accounts were gone from the Receiving column in the KMail
setup.

2. All of my rules were missing for filtering incoming email.

3. My list of emails in the Inbox windowpane (right side of KMail) looks
completely different, with the email info being on one line before (it used to
have 'thick' Subject/Date/Sender info, now it is skinny. Currently about 3
emails fit in the space that one used to occupy).

4. System tray settings are no longer valid, I had to reenable that.

5. Messages are no longer signed with my GPG key, I'll have to reset that up.

6. Re-setting up email accounts required all of the IMAP header info to be
downloaded again, rather than being found on the local system.

And that is all I have come across so far, since this has taken a good amount
of time to re-set up and I've not really looked into the rest of what is
missing.

A "full hard drive" needs to be expected from time to time, and it shouldn't
cause Kontact/Mail to lose all of its settings. It may be only KMail-related,
as my calendar info and address book still looks to be accurate.

Thanks for the great application, I hope that this can be fixed so that it
doesn't bite someone else in the future.

On my system this also happens with short *.wav files playing by the KDE's

Currently I'm using mplayer to play these sound notification files... you can
choose an external player in the 'player settings' tab in the 'notifications'

[Bug 201136] New: kmail dimap folders deleted

2009-07-22 Thread Nathan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201136

   Summary: kmail dimap folders deleted
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: nat...@paysonlinux.org

Version:(using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc version 4.2.3
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled From Sources

I inadvertently filled up my /home partition with an over-sized virtualbox hard
drive. I fell asleep and did not realize it filled up. When I awoke I had
errors galore, mostly about UUIDs being invalid and kmail and akonadi could not
read the folders in my dimap and it might be a permissions problem. I clicked
okay about 15 times from the UUID errors and deleted the virtualbox virtual
drive. I rebooted my computer and when I logged back in I got the same errors
all over again. Something changed the permissions on my files! Kmail contained
no record of my dimap folders. I looked in .kde/share/apps/kmail and the
folders were not there. Did akonadi delete them? My filesystem is ext3, just so
this is not thought to be a problem with ext4.

SVN commit 1001214 by winterz:

Backport r995025 by tmcguire from trunk to the 4.3 branch:

Don't initally put the focus on the quick search field, but on the view, so
that shortcuts like
+ and j work when starting.

This is a workaround, for some reason the setFocus() call in widgetbase.cpp
didn't work, the focus_child
of the mainwindow was reset to 0 for some unknown reason afterwards.

When opening (clicking) an email in the message list which contains a few (eg.

becomes responsive again after ~1min when KMail opened the email, and then I
can see the images also.

Attachments displaying is "Smart".

Call slotRename right after creating a new filter

no magic in this patch, just call the slotRename() in

I'm not an Qt expert, but If inline-renaming should be possible, the filter

sure if the devs want to replace the widget...

[Bug 201102] New: spam filter does not work if messages are filtered to folders on server

2009-07-22 Thread Michal Hlavinka
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201102

Summary: spam filter does not work if messages are filtered to
folders on server
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: mhlav...@redhat.com

Version: 4.2.96 (using KDE 4.2.96)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Fedora RPMs

Kmail provides spam filtering.

In Filter Rules configuration - advanced options:

check box "Apply this filter to incoming messages simply does not work for imap
accounts that have messages filtered to folders on server side.

It seems check box means only "apply this filter to new messages in inbox". New
messages in inbox are spam filtered. New messages in other folders are not spam
filtered.

Spam filtering works only for inbox folder and there is no way how to create
new filter rules for other folders.

That's just the even toop. Try disabling resources methodically to isolate the
problem to one resource. Also try running kmail and korganizer and kaddressbook
standalone.

How to reproduce:
1) Open popup note for editing in Kontact's Popup Notes component by
double-clicking on it.
2) Close popup note editor by clicking on OK or Cancel.
-> The editor is closed, but opens up again immediately afterwards; closing
works as expected the second time.

Every year, when i get my laptop exchanged and i install a fresh

KMail is installed and empty (that's normal). But how to get
all previous emails (from the other laptop) and all connections imported
correctly from the old kmail installation.

I really would appreciate to have a script that saves (packs) the mail
directory and the "config"files for kmail to install them in the new
environment and perhaps on the next version of kmail.

Ignore this request if this feature is available and it's only me to be too
stupid. (rtfm-whish).

Have a lot of fun

I'm using Opensuse 4.3 RC1 Release 4.2.96 "Release 142" & Kmail version 1.12.0.
I have an email with 2 large PDF attachments of 3.1MB and 1.5MB. I have set the
appearance view to "display beside the message pane". Now if I start Kmail (and
not Kontact) the memory consumed through htop is approx 60MB. If I click on
this email with the large attachment, the memory jumps upto 90MB and if I click
on a normal text message it comes back to 60MB.

This is reproducible everytime.I can give provide a screenshot and any other
information if needed.
