[Bug 204515] crash when sending queued mail

2009-08-31 Thread Matt Whitlock
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204515

--- Comment #4 from Matt Whitlock 2009-08-31 22:46:11 ---
I just had this happen again. This time, instead of waiting to get a backtrace
until after the inevitable crash, I attached gdb to the running process just
after I clicked Send and observed the composer window to disable but not to
close. The "sending mail" background task is stuck at 0%, as is always the
case in this scenario.

For what it's worth, my wallet was already open at the time I clicked Send, but
I had forcibly closed my wallet and reopened it previously without restarting
KMail. In other words:

1. Start KMail.
2. Enter password in KWallet popup to open wallet.
3. Force wallet closed.
4. Reopen wallet by accessing it from another application (e.g., Konqueror).
5. Attempt to send a message in KMail.

I have no idea whether this sequence has any significance to this bug
whatsoever, but I figured it might be worth mentioning since there are some
KWallet calls in the backtrace.

Here's the backtrace (there's only one thread):

It seems the port to Qt4 and the new model/view based listview have solved it.

[Bug 96860] From: header domain part forced to lower case

--- Comment #12 from Thiago Macieira 2009-08-31 19:48:34 ---
No, the issue I found back in 2005 is that KMail was inconsistent. Under some
conditions, it normalised, under others it didn't.

I wouldn't mind having the non-normalised email address in the edit boxes,
actually, especially if they're IDN.

@Martin: I am the reporter and I know what I wrote: "KMail shouldn't
silently(sic!) perform such conversions overriding user settings." This still
holds true and has got even worse today. However, this is not a big problem,
just somewhat annoying.

@Thiago: Perhaps all e-mail addresses should be normalized before putting them
in to the line edit boxes in the UI using the same functions that are applied
before sending them?

[Bug 96860] From: header domain part forced to lower case

2009-08-31 Thread Thiago Macieira
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96860

--- Comment #10 from Thiago Macieira 2009-08-31 17:55:57 ---
Domains are case-insensitive. Lowercase should be enough for everyone (it's
correct, even if it's not most aesthetically pleasing), plus it avoids issues
with broken software that doesn't deal with IDNs properly.

--- Comment #9 from Martin Koller 2009-08-31 17:45:30 ---
The original report was about the different behavior with different identities.
This is no longer the case, therefore it's no longer a "Bug" report.
Changing to whish.
Also, in comment #4 thiago stated clearly that he will not implement this.
Sorry about not having endless resources to implement each and every whish.
You're welcome to provide a patch though.

@Martin: That's even worse. In the UI, the From address is shown exactly as I
configured it in the identity. Only when I send such an e-mail, the domain part
of the From address is converted to lowercase.

2009-08-31 Thread Martin Koller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205800

Summary: when accepting invitation, mail is not deleted even
though its configured
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.12.1
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kol...@aon.at

Version: 1.12.1 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) "release 152",
KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.29-0.1-pae

I've double checked that the Misc setting "Delete invitation emails after the
reply to them has been sent" is checked.
Still, I accepted an invitation, I see it in my calendar, the reply mail is
already in the Sent-mail folder, but the mail is still in my Inbox

@Dario
Indeed judging from backtrace one is duplicate of the other.

Also still reproducible on 4.3 branch with qt-4.5.2
