[Bug 208437] Send Again changes From-Adress and signed status

2009-09-26 Thread hanno
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208437

--- Comment #2 from hanno hboeck de 2009-09-26 18:01:58 ---
I'm using POP3, although this is about mail-sending, which is obviously SMTP.

Step-by-step to reproduce:
Create a mail with an identity that has signing as default, change the From
adress to something != the identitys default. Select the mail in the
sent-folder, right-click-Send again, it has the identitys default mail
adress and signed selected on.

This is different for you? I can try producing a desktop-recording to show the
behaviour.

In kmail from 4.3 the typing of a letter only focuses the folder and does not
select it. So the behavior is as designed. Therefore I close this.

The behavior is correct. It seems there is a misunderstanding:

you have only ONE identity: Fran f...@gmail.com
Therefore this is the one which is used always in the From: header.

Try to rename your accounts not with the email address syntax will probably
remove this confusion. The account name is not an email address (and not an
identity)

If you want to have different identities, then you need to create these.
You can also define in the identity which transport to use (which outgoing
account)

This is how it should work.
If you want to send a mail via the Send mail Via tool button, then press and
HOLD the mouse key down while on the button. After a second or so the popup
will appear where you can select the outgoing account.

[Bug 208581] New: introduce unsure folder for spam filtering

2009-09-26 Thread S . Burmeister
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208581

Summary: introduce unsure folder for spam filtering
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sven.burmeis...@gmx.net

Version:(using KDE 4.3.1)
OS:Linux
Installed from:SuSE RPMs

An explanation can be read in the kdepim archives:
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-pimm=124195221523397w=2

Basically this is about kmail doing the wrong thing when the spam filter tool
is not sure whether a message is spam or ham.

There are two things that mus tnot happen:
1. If unsure, do not mark a message as spam or ham.
2. If unsure do not do nothing.

2. is very important to get spam tools going, i.e. to train them, especially
the light-weight ones that do not slow down kmail. If kmail does not do
anything but keep them in the inbox, the user won't act on ham, because there
is no need to mark anything as ham that is already in the correct folder, i.e.
the inbox.

Since the user does not mark any emails as ham, the spam filtering tool cannot
learn what is regarded as ham and thus not decide what should be marked as
spam.

If kmail would stick to the spam filtering tool's definition, i.e. move emails
that it is not sure about to an unsure folder, the user would act upn those
emails and mark them as either spam or ham thus training the spam filtering
tool.

Summary: Kmail crashes with signal 11

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

ReportedBy: t...@beermad.org.uk

Version: 1.11.4 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

Kmail repeatedly dies with signal 11.

This is happening while I'm not even doing anything with it, so I assume it's
something to do with it trying to do housekeeping on messages and hitting
something it doesn't like.

I just re-started it while typing this bug and within a minute or so it fell
over again.

I do not believe it. Yes, HOLDING!!! the button. That's right, I am sorry.

(In reply to comment #3)
This is how it should work.
If you want to send a mail via the Send mail Via tool button, then press and
HOLD the mouse key down while on the button. After a second or so the popup
will appear where you can select the outgoing account.

[Bug 208183] sent email with a different outgoing account has the wrong sender email address

2009-09-26 Thread FranJPR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208183

--- Comment #4 from FranJPR fjperezor gmail com 2009-09-26 20:49:16 ---
Yes, it was a misunderstanding, absolutely. I have already set up the
identities, transports and accounts for each of them, and kmail works great.

Thanks!

(In reply to comment #3)
The behavior is correct. It seems there is a misunderstanding:

you have only ONE identity: Fran f...@gmail.com
Therefore this is the one which is used always in the From: header.

Try to rename your accounts not with the email address syntax will probably
remove this confusion. The account name is not an email address (and not an
 identity)

If you want to have different identities, then you need to create these.
You can also define in the identity which transport to use (which outgoing
 account)

[Bug 208437] Send Again changes From-Adress and signed status

2009-09-26 Thread Martin Koller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208437

--- Comment #3 from Martin Koller kollix aon at 2009-09-26 21:37:37 ---
Even though this is about sending, I thought the sent mail is stored somewhere,
and this might be locally or on an IMAP server (but as I have no knowledge
about IMAP, I might be wrong).

Ok, so the problem comes from the fact that you change manually the From
address.
With that, I can reproduce your description.
But you mention the signed/unsigned setting in your first posting, which is
preserved in my case and you say in your last comment that it's also ok for
you.
So it seems the problem you describe is only with the From address, right?

However, I'm not sure if that is a bug.
One could say I want to open the composer with the identity I selected the
first time I created the mail. In fact kmail stores a special header inside the
sent mail to know with which identity it was sent (X-KMail-Identity)
Also, I'm not sure why you select one identity and then change the From address
manually. Isn't that exactly the reason why we have different identities, to be
able to define different From addresses beforehand ?

[Bug 208636] crash when try to delete message

2009-09-26 Thread Alexis Kauffmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208636

--- Comment #2 from Alexis Kauffmann leh gehspace com 2009-09-26 23:35:23 ---
(In reply to comment #1)
Sorry to say that this backtrace is rather useless as it does not contain any
 debugging information.

Just tried to help. Tha above information was generated by the program itself
and I have no clue at all if it is useful or useless to anyone concerned the
solution of this problem.

This problem is happening all the time. I can do anything in Kmail except
delete a message, no matter what directory it is located. Whether I press del
or try to delete using the right mouse button click options it makes no
difference, the program crashes and generates the above message.

Thanks for your report.
If you can reproduce it that often it would be great if you would install the
debug-info packages and report a new crash afterwards, which would then contain
the exact line numbers in the kmail code.

BTW: are you using IMAP, POP or local mails ?
