[Bug 209961] New: kmail close in systray doesn't work any more after KDE 4.2.4

2009-10-09 Thread themroc
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209961

Summary: kmail close in systray doesn't work any more after KDE
4.2.4
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.11.4
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: rauchwe...@gmail.com

Version: 1.11.4 (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-15-generic

Normally Kmail or Kontact minimize in the systray after closing (ALT+F4), if
in appearancesystray show kmail in systray, if unread messages exist is
active.

After updating kubuntu to KDE 4.2.4 this feature doesn't work any more. Now
ALT+F4 have the same effect like STRG+Q.

[Bug 170380] locale time setting error

2009-10-09 Thread Gerry Gavigan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170380

--- Comment #8 from Gerry Gavigan gavigan iee org 2009-10-09 10:34:50 ---
The system clock and system settings (as viewed through Yast or using date
from the command line are set correctly to UTC and BST) Of course BST applies
to a bigger area than London.

Yast displays London. Given that Yast is only updating system scripts, is
this information stored somewhere for system wide use?

Regionalisation is a KDE function. My regionalisation is set to GB, (£, .,
dd/mm/yy, etc)

More and more KDE applications are picking up Guernsey from somewhere. Where
is that somewhere? Presumably it is not the same somewhere that is storing
London

Is the somewhere external to kdepim?

'Could not paste data: Unknown error. (Failed to copy collection)' in a 'Paste

However, when clicking on 'Ok' from that dialogue the addressbook is copied

So I am reopening this bug.

Version:(using Devel)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.2
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

- Configure Akonadi with an IMAP and Kolab resource.
- Launch Kontact and go to Kaddressbook
- create a new Contact with two email addresses(John Smithjohnsm...@work.com
and John Smithjohnsm...@home.com). Click on 'Ok'
- Create a new Group and try to add the Contact that you have just created by
entering only a few letters.(ex: J o h for John Smith)
- The autocompletion works and the preferred email address of the contact
appears in the combo box list (ex: John Smithjohnsm...@work.com)
- Select the preferred address: it appears in the combo box and a pop up window
asks you to choose between the two email adresses for the Contact.
- Choose the second one from the list shown.

It does not work the preferred email address remains.

Atm, the only way to have the second email address is to enter it manually.

It seems that the pop up dialogue does not work.

This bug is not valid anymore. So I am closing it.

It is now possible to enter the second email address of a contact manually.
There is still a bug with the pop up dialogue that asks the user to choose
between the contact's two emails but I reported a different bug about it (see
bug #209981)

But the point is that both of the emails can be added to the group and
displayed on the right hand side of the main view.

[Bug 207114] Navigator toolbar display can be improved

2009-10-09 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207114

--- Comment #2 from Sabine Faure sabine kdab net 2009-10-09 16:47:47 ---
Tobias, I was asked to test KAB within Kontact. But, in the future I'll select
Kontact in the 'Product' combo box when the bug is not KAB specific.

Additionnal comments:
If you move the Navigator toolbar so that all the 10 buttons are visible next
to the Main toolbar then the Main toolbar is the one that gets reduced. You
have to expand it again to see its contents (New Contact button,Sync Contacts,
Search field).

So it seems that it is impossible to put the two toolbars next to each other
unless removing a few buttons when using a 1400x1050 pixels screen.

It seems that the best solution would be that the Navigator toolbar appears
underneath the Main toolbar by default.

[Bug 207297] 'Delete Address Book' button cannot be added from the 'Configure Toolbars' dialogue.

2009-10-09 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207297

--- Comment #2 from Sabine Faure sabine kdab net 2009-10-09 18:05:43 ---
In fact those two buttons('Delete Address Book' and 'Address Book Properties')
are added but not displayed when clicking on 'Apply'.

To see them, click on 'Ok' and select an Addressbook (ex: Personal Contacts).
the two buttons appear next to the search field in the Main toolbar.

If you click on 'Contacts' (=the Kolab resource) then they are no longer
displayed until you select an addressbook again.

This happens since a long time for me as well (as long as I am using KDE4),
right now I am using KDE 4.3.2 on Kubuntu 9.04 and see this bug every other
day. It occurs especially often when big mails are downloaded over IMAP.

I retested this today and the 'Distribution List File' resource has been
removed from the 'Add Address Book' dialogue. So this bug is not valid anymore.

I tried with all the other resources just in case and there is no unused
resource left in the 'Akonadi Configuration' dialogue when cancelling the
creation of a resource.

So I am closing this bug.

[Bug 210024] New: sending a message hangs after server connection is reestablished

2009-10-09 Thread Ivan Vasin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210024

Summary: sending a message hangs after server connection is
reestablished
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: nisa...@gmail.com

Application that crashed: kmail
Version of the application: 1.12.2
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.04

What I was doing when the application crashed:
it often happens that KMail will pop up an annoying message saying the
connection to the server could not be established, or something along those
lines, when performing an automatic mail check. this is despite the fact that
my network connection is fine---of this i am certain, since i've checked my
mail manually through a Web client immediately before, during, and after this
message has popped up.

by itself this message isn't terrible since KDE's focus-stealing prevention
usually prevents the message from interrupting me (except, notably, when i am
running some applications in wine). it is annoying that i need to close it
every time, which is numerous times per day. however, it seems that a
consequence of this occurrence is that sometimes any subsequent messages that i
attempt to send through KMail will hang indefinitely at 0%. i can click the '-'
button to cancel the process, but the grayed-out message window remains. i can
then click the close button on the message window, which prompts me to save a
draft, but regardless of my choice, the window remains in its grayed-out state.
the only way i have found to work around this is to kill KMail. it was such a
workaround that produced the included backtrace.

there was no output in the file relating to KMail. I might have done something
wrong. Can you explan exactly how to use it?

[Bug 170380] locale time setting error

--- Comment #12 from Gerry Gavigan gavigan iee org 2009-10-10 00:05:16 ---
With a bit of luck I've acquired this code fragment from the world clock
plasmoid.

KGlobal::locale()-insertCatalog(marble);
KGlobal::locale()-insertCatalog(marble_qt);
+ KGlobal::locale()-insertCatalog(timezones4);
setHasConfigurationInterface(true);
setAcceptHoverEvents(true);

Now, I am seriously busking here, but what's this timezones4 thing?

Is it present in the digital clock and kdepim?

BTW: see also http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=20t=77107

If someone could give me a few pointers I'm happy to carry on amateur
sleuthing.

I think it only works with a debug build of KDE or probably also if you have
installed the -debug packages (I'm not sure though).
I'm not sure if the output helps a lot.
You could also ask for further help on debugging via IRC on #kontact or via the
KDE mailing lists, e.g. kdepim-us...@kde.org

I have installed debug packages. That does not do the trick. I will try to
contact people for further debugging, but may be it will take some time.
Compling KDE from trunk is on my list, but since I failed a few times following
the instructions, it seems like a bigger project.

Tobias: this is because of the use of QAction::setVisible in
standardcontactactionmanager.cpp. It makes the actions appear and disappear,
which is quite unexpected I think, it would be better to just enable/disable
them. In fact the attached patch works ok for me.

I guess the only difference is that the Edit menu looks a bit more crowded
because it contains Delete Addressbook at all times. But I think GUI
styleguides say that it's better to disable actions than to have them disappear
altogether.
