[Bug 214195] New: Switching to 'Show Simple View' is extremely slow with 800 contacts

2009-11-11 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214195

Summary: Switching to 'Show Simple View' is extremely slow
with 800 contacts
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net
CC: to...@kde.org

Version:(using Devel)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.2
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

- Launch Kontact and go to KAB
- Create or import about 800 contacts
- Go to Settings menu/Show Simple View
- Check the 'Show Simple View' check box within the menu

Nothing happens at first but after a few minutes KAddressBook switches to
simple view.

Also:
- Click on the 'Next' button from the Simple View display mode

Nothing happens at first but after a while the next contact is displayed.

Would it be possible to improve the speed on those functionalities?

[Bug 214185] New: KMail hangs, eating all CPU (seems to hang in KMMsgDict::update)

2009-11-11 Thread Daniel Hahler
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214185

Summary: KMail hangs, eating all CPU (seems to hang in
KMMsgDict::update)
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.12.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-bugzi...@thequod.de

Version: 1.12.2 (using KDE 4.3.2)
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

KMail currently hangs here, eating all CPU.

I do not remember exactly what I've done before, but something like:
 - report spam from the GMail account Spam folder
 - moving some messages to the right gmail folder (false positives), wondering
why KMail has to download all mails from the folder in the move process
(another bug I think)
 - the last action was probably some remove

Here's the first backtrace from gdb, followed by the tips of some
continue-and-gdb-again processes:

[Bug 214184] New: .ps become .pdf when selecting a location to save to file (Printing functionality)

2009-11-11 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214184

Summary: .ps become .pdf when selecting a location to save to
file (Printing functionality)
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net
CC: to...@kde.org

Version:(using Devel)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.2
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

- Launch Kontact and go to KAB
- Create one contact and select it
- Go to File menu/Print...
- Select 'Print to File (Postscript)' from the 'Name:' combo box
- The 'Output file:' name is now 'addressbook.ps
- Click on the '...' button to select a location for the file to be saved
- The file name is changed to 'addressbook.pdf' automatically
- Click on 'Save' and the name remains 'addressbook.pdf' - In the 'Print
Contacts' dialogue the 'Name:' combo box is now set to 'Print to File (PDF)'
eventhough this is not what the user initially chose
Click on 'Print'
Click on 'Next' twice
Click on 'Finish'

The file is saved as a .pdf whereas the user wanted a .ps.

The only way to have a .ps at the moment is to reselect this format manually:
- In the Print Contacts dialogue the 'Name:' combo box is now set to 'Print to
File (PDF)' eventhough this is not what the user initially chose
- reselect 'Print to file (Postscript)'
- the path where the file should be saved remains but the file is now called
and saved as 'addressbook.ps'
Click on 'Print'
Click on 'Next' twice
Click on 'Finish'
- Go to the location where the file should have been saved and you can see that
it is a .ps. Open it and you can see that it contains the selected contact.

I think the extension of the file should never be changed to a .pdf.

[Bug 180741] crash in kmail (typeinfo name for, KMReaderWin::parseMsg)

2009-11-11 Thread Dario Andres
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180741

22:39:16 ---
The backtrace of all this crashes are the ~same~ (so they are crashing in the
same(or similar) code workflows), suggesting that those reports are in fact
related.

[Bug 180741] crash in kmail (typeinfo name for, KMReaderWin::parseMsg)

2009-11-11 Thread Jose Da Silva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180741

--- Comment #52 from Jose Da Silva 2009-11-11 22:37:11

Hi Dario,
Read comment#41 and comment#43.
Does it crash if you have the preview window open?
Does it crash if you have the preview window closed?
For myself, I was able to narrow my problem down to the preview pane causing
the problem.
If it crashes for you regardless of preview pane, you maybe might have a
different bug. I'm guessing there are probably 3 different bugs lumped-into
this particular bug based on activity that caused crashes.

does anyone know what was the clues that suggested all these bugs are related?

- What were you doing when the application crashed ? (According to the trace
you were using the Akregator component) - Have you found a way to repeat the
crash in a reliable way ?
Thanks

Bug 214112 got another description:
What I was doing when the application crashed:
This is bizarre. I received an email from the Arch Linux mailing list that
somehow triggered kmail to prompt me for my gpg passphrase. The first letter of
the phrase is a 'd' which is also mapped to 'delete message'. When I typed the
'd' into the passphrase box, the message was deleted and kmail crashed and
drkonqi appeared. I'll attach the email if it didn't autoexpunge from the
deleted folder. (If it did, I think I can get a copy from thunderbird)

closing both windows leads to crash
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

[Bug 214141] New: Printing 'All contact from' an address book folder prints the contacts from its subfolder as well.

2009-11-11 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214141

Summary: Printing 'All contact from' an address book folder
prints the contacts from its subfolder as well.
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net
CC: to...@kde.org

Version:(using Devel)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.2
OS:Linux
Installed from:Compiled sources

- Launch Kontact and go to KAB
- Create three contacts in an address book folder (ABF1)
- Create a contact in a subfolder called (S0)
- Select ABF1 and go to File menu/Print...
- Select 'Print to File (PDF) from the 'Name:' combo box
- Click on '...' and select a location on your hard disk to save the .pdf.
- Click on 'Print'
- Select the 'All contacts from:' radio button.
- Check that the default folder is the currently selected one in KAB (=ABF1).
- Click on 'Next' twice
- Click on 'Finish'
- Open the .pdf you've just created.

In it you can see that 4 contacts have been printed:
* the ones from ABF1
* But also the one from S0

I do not think that it makes sense that subfolders contacts are printed when
selecting a folder at least by default.

Tobias, please let me know what you think.

[Bug 214140] New: kmail creates zombie processes

2009-11-11 Thread Hannes Hauswedell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214140

   Summary: kmail creates zombie processes
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: FreeBSD Ports
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: bugzi...@soulrebel.in-berlin.de

Version: 4.3.1 (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS:FreeBSD
Installed from:FreeBSD Ports

During regular operation kmail produces a zombie once in a while. I have been
having this issue on with multiple FreeBSD-setups since the beginning of KDE4,
but just now found out that PPID tells where a process comes from and could
therefore track it to kmail.

It looks like this (second column is PID, third column PPID):

han...@fbsdmain /c/h/hannes> ps ajx | grep 1600
hannes 1600 1 1123 11230 I ??1:10,02

Thanks Daniel for the patch, that was the correct way to fix it.

My fault, I forgot again that the objecttreeparser can be used without having a
reader widget.

[Bug 214112] kmail crashed when requesting opengpg passphrase

Strange, kmail did not expunge trash and there were many "blue" colored
messages in my archlinux mail folder (looked like those I had marked read, but
that kmail didn't know what to do with when it crashed). kmail DID blow away
the message that caused the crash. It is in oblivian somewhere. I'll have to
install another hard drive to recover the email, but I'll post it when I do.

[Bug 214112] New: kmail crashed when requesting opengpg passphrase

2009-11-11 Thread David Rankin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214112

Summary: kmail crashed when requesting opengpg passphrase
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: drankina...@suddenlinkmail.com

Application that crashed: kmail
Version of the application: 1.12.3
KDE Version: 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-ARCH x86_64

What I was doing when the application crashed:
This is bizarre. I received an email from the Arch Linux mailing list that
somehow triggered kmail to prompt me for my gpg passphrase. The first letter of
the phrase is a 'd' which is also mapped to 'delete message'. When I typed the
'd' into the passphrase box, the message was deleted and kmail crashed and
drkonqi appeared. I'll attach the email if it didn't autoexpunge from the
deleted folder. (If it did, I think I can get a copy from thunderbird)

[Bug 214091] New: Message list is cleared when a different message preview layout is selected

2009-11-11 Thread Tomas Van Verrewegen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214091

Summary: Message list is cleared when a different message
preview layout is selected
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: tomasvanverrewe...@telenet.be

Version:(using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

When I select a different layout for the message preview pane, the message list
in the main KMail window is cleared. I then have to switch to another folder to
repopulate the list.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open Settings/Configure KMail
- Go to Appearance/Layout
- Change an option in Message Preview Pane
- Click Ok or Apply

[Bug 214084] New: Kontact doesn't switch to feeds view when the Akregator tray icon is clicked

2009-11-11 Thread kdebjp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214084

Summary: Kontact doesn't switch to feeds view when the
Akregator tray icon is clicked
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde...@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

If I have Akregator open in Kontact close Kontact by means of ALT+F4 and then
attempt to open Kmail by clicking on the Kmail tray icon, Kmail opens up as
expected.

However, if I then close Kontact by means of ALT+F4 and then attempt to open
Akregator by clicking on the Akregator tray icon, it is still Kmail that opens
up. I had expected that Agregator would should up instead. I think that's more
intuitive.

[Bug 214083] New: Draft mail in IMAP folder registered as new mail

2009-11-11 Thread kdebjp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214083

Summary: Draft mail in IMAP folder registered as new mail
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kde...@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

I keep my draft mails in an IMAP folder. When I save the draft, it is counted
in as a new mail. The name of the draft folder therefore appears in bold and
the kmail tray icon is updated to show that 1 email remains to be read.

I'm ok with the draft folder name appearing in bold because that tells me that
I have draft messages that I need to pick up upon. But I don't like that the
kmail tray icon tells me that I have unread messages as this is clearly not the
case; it's just an email that I'm the process of writing.
