Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux testing (squeeze)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I am able to reproduce this crash all the time. If the address is not in the
"recent address sent to", kmail crashes. The completion order in my settings
are: IO??? (I forgot what is called), the default address book and LDAP address
book. Normally the autocomplete works fine but for some addresses it crashes
kmail. Weird.

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I wanted to choose more than 5 address from the addressbook, bevor I wrote any
text as mail.
Each new address goes well into a new line, but the button "select" (to choose
another address) makes a crash. The new start give me the chance to continue,
but I could choose only one new address, bevor the button "select" makes a
crash again.

Martin,

I can confirm that the problem is caused by the IaOra-KDE widget style; it is
not present with any of the other styles.

Thanks for the reply, best wishes,

It would be important to find out which subprocess becomes a zombie.
E.g. do you use an external editor ? Does any filter call an external program ?
Do you have any mail-fetching precommand using an external program ?
Anything else what runs an external program from kmail ?

--- Comment #1 from Martin Koller 2009-11-21 15:31:43 ---
When I try to attach a file I have no read permission (either via selecting the
file in the "Attach File" filedialog or via drag/drop, kmail tells me "Could
not read xxx", which is correct.

So it seems the problem only occurs with the file you mention in your other bug
entry.
So I'd say this one is simply a duplicate of #214696

First, let me tell you that KDE 3.5.x is no longer supported. The current
version is KDE 4.3.3, so you should try with that one.
Second, if you changed the address of the recipient, why did kmail ask you for
the address ?
I assume you did something wrong.
If you can reproduce the problem, please tell us step by step how, but please
use the latest kmail (KDE) version.

KDE 4.3.75 (KDE 4.3.75 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091113))

Would you be so kind to reopen it because it was closed incorrectly? And yes,
as you have seen, it is a regression in 4.4.

This is confusing. Your first report talks about SENDING. Your second entry
talks about RECEIVING.

Please try to explain in more detail what works and what doesn't, but please
try to first define a new sending and receiving account just to be sure you
entered all needed info and there is no problem with the upgrade to openSuse
11.2
(BTW: I also recently switched from 11.1 to 11.2 and had no problem)

This is probably a style problem.
Please try e.g. with Plastique (which I use and don't see this problem, using a

I accidentally closed Kontact on the window button (not File=>Quit) and wanted

BTW: Kontact doesn't quit all the time when using File=>Quit so you have to

It seems that email has some special HTML causing the HTML rendering engine
(KHTML) to fail and crash the application.

- If you can reproduce the crash at will (or you experience this regularly),
can you install the "kdelibs5-debug" package and post a complete backtrace
here?

It would be useful to have that mail as a testcase, but I guess it contains
personal data...
