[Bug 217298] New: SMTP password not saved by configuration dialog

2009-12-03 Thread Theo Bald
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217298

Summary: SMTP password not saved by configuration dialog
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.12.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: b...@sverige.nu

Version: 1.12.3 (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Fedora RPMs

The configuration dialog in Kontact does not save Kmail SMTP password.
Reproduce like this:
1. Edit account for outgoing mail.
2. Set to use SSL enryption.
3. In advanced check authentication.
4. Enter usename and password.
5. Check save password.
6. Click ok.
7. Restart from 1. Password not saved.

This is *not* a fresh install. I've been keeping ~/.kde during upgrades since
4.0 was released in Fedora.

Thanks for the feedback...

So you can reproduce only from kontact, did I understood right?

Hi,

I just tried it three times, and couldn't.

[Bug 215944] Kmail crash while concurrently copying and creating IMAP folders

2009-12-03 Thread Bjarne Juul Pasgaard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215944

--- Comment #4 from Bjarne Juul Pasgaard 2009-12-03
22:23:51 ---
First, I should correct my previous report. What I did was (concurrently):
1) I was creating folders on one IMAP account.
2) Copying content from folder another IMAP account to the folders created
under bullet 1.
3) Deleting content from the folders copied from.
4) Deleting folders copied from.

I've now tried to reproduce the problem with some test accounts on my mail
server and an old laptop. Fortunately (!), I was able to reproduce the crash -
albeit without any stackdump showing up. I also noticed the following:

1) In one case, copying a large number of mails from a local folder to an IMAP
folder made kmail void all mails (no subject, sending unknown) after which the
IMAP server refused to append the mails to the destination folder. After this,
it was no longer possible to read the mails.
2) While the background copy/move operations are ongoing, switching the display
from one mail folder to another is sometimes extremely slow to respond. Could
be related to how my dovecot mail server responds.
3) In some cases, the display seemed to be totally unresponsive (though the
progress bar was rolling). In this situation it was still possible to select
and display local folders or folders on another IMAP account. Whenever I
selected a folder from the IMAP account that was hanging, the display appeared
unresponsive again. Could be related to how my dovecot mail server responds.

What I did to reproduce the crash was:
1) I have two IMAP accounts; tester1 and tester2 with the following folder
structure: tester1/inbox, tester1/folder1, tester1/folderA, tester1/Deleted
Messages, tester2/inbox, tester2/folder2, tester2/folderB, tester2/Deleted
Messages
2) kmail is configured to use tester1/Deleted Messages and tester2/Deleted
Messages as trash folders for tester1 and tester2, respectively.
3) Initially tester1/folder1 was empty, tester1/folderA and tester2/folderB
contained only a few emails, and tester2/folder2 contained a large number of
emails.
4) I started to move all mails from tester2/folder2 to tester1/folder1.
5) Once this operation was started I switched to view tester2/folderB
6) The folder contents didn't display even after waiting a bit, so I created
tester2/folderC and tester1/folderD.
7) I switched back and forth between tester1/folderD, tester2/folderC, and
tester2/folderB, but none of the folders were able to display their contents
(as far as I recall).
8) I then settled to wait for the contents of tester2/folderB to display. Once
displayed, I started to delete contents. I think I also subsequently tried to
view the contents of test2/folderC, but somewhere around this point, kmail
crashed.
9) When I started up kmail again, there were still mails in tester2/folder2
that hadn't been moved to tester1/folder1.

I know I ought to try to reproduce the problem once more in order to eliminate
all the uncertainties in my description, but I don't have much more time right
now. So, I hope the above gives you enough information to get a better idea of
where the problem is located. Otherwise, please say so, and I'll try to
allocate some more time later.

[Bug 216787] Crash in kontact todo-list when doing multiple concurrent operations

2009-12-03 Thread Bjarne Juul Pasgaard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216787

--- Comment #1 from Bjarne Juul Pasgaard 2009-12-03
21:09:37 ---
I've now reproduced this problem 5 times on another laptop (same software). The
following steps makes the problem reproducible:
1) Start Kontact in the Mail view
2) Switch to the summary view - I have a few todo's listed in the summary.
3) Switch to the todo-list - the list is empty.
4) Select a new category in the todo-list search bar.
5) Kontact will crash.

No crash occurs if I, after startup of kontact, switch directly from the mail
view to the todo-list.

They probably included a patch for this issue in there Qt packages.

Because from a KDE perspective the bug solved. But if you look at comment #22
you will see a link to the Qt issue report.

Okay. I don't understand these technical issues. I just reported these bug a
few months ago and my report was marked as duplicated. And the problem was
really gone for a while (Mandriva and Kubuntu).

So why don't the mantainer switch this bug from resolved to unsolved?

not KDE. No re-appearing or anything - it has just not been fixed yet.

[Bug 217241] New: kontact hangs on attempt to send email

2009-12-03 Thread Thomas Caswell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217241

Summary: kontact hangs on attempt to send email
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: tcasw...@gmail.com

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.2
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
kontact left running over night. On trying to send an email (by hitting the
send button in the composer window), the window is fadded and the email to be
sent is added to the outbox, but does not get sent. I hit the x button to
close the email and was presented with a 'save draft' 'discard' 'cancel' dialog
window. I selected cancel and then kontact crashed. Upon restarting kontact,
I was given the 'kontact already running' warning window to which I responded
'start anyway'. The email was still in the out box and sent with out error in
the restarted kontact.

This has happened before (once ever other week), but I can not reliabley
reproduce it. I have a hunch that it is related to kwallet interactions. In
all the cases that it has crashed I have first started kopete and opened
kwallet. The wallet is still open when I attempted to send the email.

 -- Backtrace:
Application: Kontact (kontact), signal: Segmentation fault
The current source language is "auto; currently c".

[Bug 217215] New: current letter arbitrarily moved by kmail

2009-12-03 Thread matt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217215

Summary: current letter arbitrarily moved by kmail
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.12.3
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m...@math.binghamton.edu

Version: 1.12.3 (using 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3), 4.3.3-4.fc11 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.30.9-96.fc11.i686.PAE

This applies only to the most recent versions (say last one or two) of kmail.

Almost any activity (e.g., compacting the inbox, moving from one mailbox to
another, changing the sort criterion from sender to date, etc.) will move the
"focus" from the letter currently being read, to some letter that kmail
remembers for an unknown reason. I have not been able to figure out what the
criterion is that kmail is using to remember this letter. I would like kmail
to revert to the previous behavior in which the letter under current view was
kept constant during the activities listed in the parenthetical remark above.

Hello,
When you have defined a ldap directory ni kontact, kmail can use it when you
type in a mail address. That's good and an expected behaviour.
But, when you paste some text in one of this field the end of paste doesn't
trigger a ldap search, which should occur in my opinion.
I hope that this will be helpfull to other than me.
Thanks in advance.

Hm, the KDEDIR/share/ontology folder is just 644K. I hope it is just the
ontologies that blow up by a factor of 40, not all indexes/annotations.

I have a bit (one-step) more exact backtrace it seems:

Any idea how to resolve that

--- Comment #2 from Fernando Gomes 2009-12-03 12:26:44 ---
You can test it, it crashes 100% of the times:

Create and configure and ssl imap account. Try to move a message to another
folder (a message that takes some time to move) and when is moving select
another message and try to reply/move/delete this message. If you do this pufff
crashes.

[Bug 217177] New: column width auto adjust on window resize only happens when size is reduced

2009-12-03 Thread Christof Schulze
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217177

Summary: column width auto adjust on window resize only happens
when size is reduced
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: FreeBSD Ports
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: christof.schu...@gmx.net

Version:(using KDE 4.2.4)
Installed from:FreeBSD Ports

I use a tiling window manager. Whenever I create a new Mail the kmail main
window is resized to fit the screen next to the new mail window.
While this is happening the column width of the mail list view get adapted to
the new size of the main window.
All is well so far, but when I send the mail and the main window is resized
back to its original size, the column width of said columns is not adjusted
back.

The expected behavior is that the column width is adjusted automatically on all
changes of the width of the main window.

24MB of Nepomuk data is totally normal. All installed ontologies are loaded
into the database. There is no way around that. I know that this is not a valid
argument for many people but 24MB is nothing today. My harddisk has 1TB!
