[Bug 228006] New: editing groups terribly slow

My contacts list is rather big, though - over 1200 entries... My system is Kubuntu 9.10 with Backports enabled and KDE 4.4.0 installed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

That works pretty good as far as I can tell, but I cannot make backups of my data, which makes me a bit nervous. When I click the akonadi tray icon and say "Make backup..." I get a message that mysqldump or bzip2 are not installed. bzip2 is installed, mysqldump not, but surely mysqldump is not the right tool for dumping postgres databases. Here you want to use the pg_dump tool, and that is installed. I guess that the postgres support is not completely ready right now. No. I deleted all akonadi conf files, recompiled with mysql flag and akonadi server now starts fine. I see that it starts a private mysqld instance and all is good. It now works, who knows, I probably did something wrong initially. In the same url I give in comment #3, it states that each user must have their own database instance. Maybe I'm not getting that right, but does using the global mysqld instance for all users (same schema) work? Same story with disabling Nepomuk. Well, according to the KDE Techbase (http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Akonadi#Why_not_use_sqlite.3F) it doesn't say that SQLite support is not finished, it implies that because of SQLite limitations its use is not encouraged/recommended. Anyway, I opened this bug in the first place just because I had problems with akonadi server starting in the first place, even with the mysql Gentoo USE flag enabled, so I fell back using sqlite. Even with a new user (no KDE settings), akonadi server could not start (I already have a MySQL instance always running, if I configure akonadi server to use this instead, will I have to do this for all users in my system?). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 227632] semantic desktop dependencies should be optional
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227632 --- Comment #7 from Thomas McGuire 2010-02-21 14:10:53 --- Nepomuk is used in Akonadi to index the PIM data, like mails, contacts and calendar entries. Applications which are ported to Akonadi use Nepomuk for searching. That includes traditional search and virtual folders, but also looking up e.g. contacts by email address or by nickname. Additionally, Nepomuk is used for tagging and annotating mails in KMail 2. You can completely disable Strigi file indexing, which seems to be the most problematic in terms of performance. Akonadi will index its PIM data independently from Strigi. Do not try a patch that disables Nepomuk in Akonadi, it will break applications in random ways, for example sending to distribution lists, looking up crypto preferences of contacts, or displaying contact photos in the message viewer will stop working. KMail will _not_ work correctly with Nepomuk disabled, it is just not obvious at the first glance. I don't think the Gentoo people are aware of this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 227922] New: KMail sometimes crashes X when opening the composer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227922 Summary: KMail sometimes crashes X when opening the composer Product: kmail Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: unspecified Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: ralfjun...@gmx.de Version: KMail 1.12.4 (using KDE 4.3.5) Installed from:Ubuntu Packages Sometimes when I open the messages composer (either by selecting "New message" or by hitting "reply" in an existing message), the whole X server is crashing. I am usually writing 5 to 15 mails each day, and this happens every 1 to 2 weeks - but when it happens, it's of course really annoying as *all* applications are terminated. The .xsession-errors file contains some messages like this: kdeinit4: Fatal IO error: client killed kdeinit4: sending SIGHUP to children. but since there is no timestamp, it's hard to tell when they occurred. The Xserver log file contains this backtrace: Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x3b) [0x8133d6b] 1: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x55) [0x80c7d35] 2: [0x739400] 3: /usr/bin/X(FindGlyphByHash+0x3c) [0x816e71c] 4: /usr/bin/X [0x817b13c] 5: /usr/bin/X [0x81742e5] 6: /usr/bin/X(Dispatch+0x35f) [0x808d17f] 7: /usr/bin/X(main+0x395) [0x8072515] 8: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x22cb56] 9: /usr/bin/X [0x80719c1] Saw signal 11. Server aborting. Which is always the same except for the hex numbers in line 2 and 8. This backtrace is of course rather useless without debug symbols, but I don't know how to install them and get a good backtrace without having to compile X myself. I am using Kubuntu 9.10 and X.Org X Server 1.6.4. KMail is the only application which ever triggered an Xserver crash so far. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 227632] semantic desktop dependencies should be optional
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227632 alancio changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|UNCONFIRMED Resolution|WONTFIX | --- Comment #2 from alancio 2010-02-21 11:55:35 --- I know I can disable Nepomuk from indexing my files, but whats the point? Its like building an expensive airplane and never fly it, just a waste. The situation gets worse if you have a netbook with one of those small and expensive SSD's. And besides, kaddressbook doesn't really need a working nepomuk, it was fine without until recently, so why not make it optional and make many people happy? I'm not the only one thinking this way. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 227913] New: kmail closes because akonadi can not start
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227913 Summary: kmail closes because akonadi can not start Product: kmail Version: 1.13.0 Platform: unspecified OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: zbi...@o2.pl Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.32.8 How it is now: Broken Akonadi closes well working KMail app. I encountered stupid bug in kmail. Together with kmail starts Akonadi. First loads kmail and it works OK. After few seconds appears: "Akonadi Server Self-Test - KMail" window. If I click [Close] button in "Akonadi Server Self-Test - KMail" it also closes Kmail. How it should be done: Akonadi crashes and errors can not cause well working apps (like kmail) to close together with it. Just make [Close] button only close Akonadi window - not also Kmail. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
