Just tested it in KDE 4.3.5. Cannot reproduce. When I reorder the message list
the message selection gets lost. When I after that mark an e-mail and add
additional mails form that author to the selection via Shift everything works

   Summary: sending temporarily freezes kmail
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-20-generic

Each time I send an email, kmail freezes for about a minute. the processes
nepomukservicestub and virtuoso -t take almost 100% of cpu. After a minute or
so, everything is fine again - until I send the next message.
There is no difference whether I send a message from within kontact or kmail.
The size of the email doesn't seem to make andy difference either.

[Bug 228022] New: Composer closing is slow while sending

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0) "release 222",
KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25.20-0.6-default

Hi!

The composer window closes in about 11 seconds with a simple (even empty)
email. The same is true for sending immediately or using the sending later.
Nothing changes on my system beside upgrading to KDE SC 4.4

The running processes while "sending":
PID PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
 3447 20 0 252m 19m 13m S 29 0.5 0:35.58 nepomukservices

 3351 20 0 402m 21m 16m S 15 0.5 0:22.32 nepomukservices
 3230 20 0 16292 2412 584 S7 0.1 0:17.38 dbus-daemon
 3345 20 0 318m 16m 8680 S5 0.4 0:06.42 nepomukserver
 4156 20 0 307m 9m 6652 S5 0.3 0:14.92 akonadiserver

I think it is indexing my mail before sending, but it takes 11 seconds even
with an empty email body. Saving as draft is fast.
While it gets fixed can I switch it off somehow?

Thanks in advance,
Balázs

[Bug 228006] editing groups terribly slow

2010-02-22 Thread Tobias Koenig
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228006

--- Comment #1 from Tobias Koenig 2010-02-22 12:18:19 ---
Hej Martin,

is your setup conforming the recommended KDE standards?
That means:
  - Is Nepomuk enabled
  - Does Nepomuk use the virtuoso backend (can be found out by typing
'akonadictl status' on the command line)

What exactly is slow? The opening of the group editor dialog? Or when you
start to type in some contact names? Or the autocompletion of the names?

Ciao,
Tobias

This bug report is about a search dialog opening when copying message to an
IMAP account. I cannot reproduce this behaviour.

Frederik, if you still have that problem, please fill in a new bug - as yours
has nothing to do with IMAP when I understand you correctly.

-- Information about the crash:
After login to KDE I was told that akonadi crashed with the appended backtrace.
Akonadictrl told me after that, that Akonadi is running. A subsequent start of
Kontact with all Akonadi resources worked without problems.

[Bug 228041] New: kmail/kontact crash while sending a mail (backtrace)

2010-02-22 Thread Laurent RINEAU
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228041

Summary: kmail/kontact crash while sending a mail (backtrace)
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: laurent.rineau__...@normalesup.org

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.5
KDE Version: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.30.10-105.2.16.fc11.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: "Fedora release 11 (Leonidas)"

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I had wroten a mail and I have clicked on the send button. I think the composer
windows closed and I saw the mainwindow of Kontact just before it crashed. I do
not know if there was another task running in the background.

The backtrace seems good. I hope that can help.

Yes, now there's another bug that prevents this bug from meaning much: as the
selected sort person gets completely lost, so this bug doesn't get seen.

[Bug 99974] KMail erases contents body when resending an signed message with another profile

This still happens with kmail from just a few weeks ago, albeit in a slightly
different way, at least here.

Select the "sent-mail" folder, choose "Send again..." from any message's
context menu, then switch the sender identity: The body doesn't disappear as in
the bug reporter's case, but suddenly all periods are stripped from the body!
Occasionally I forget to put them in again, and the sent message likely makes
me look like a complete idiot for the receiver, as someone who doesn't bother
to write correctly.

Sometimes it's necessary to switch the sender identity twice to get the
funny/nasty period stripping effect.

[Bug 228057] New: Changing identity on a message forwarded as attachment inserts the message inline

2010-02-22 Thread Tristan Miller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228057

Summary: Changing identity on a message forwarded as attachment
inserts the message inline
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: psychon...@nothingisreal.com

Version:(using KDE 4.4.0)
Installed from:openSUSE RPMs

Reproducibility: Always

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select a message and issue the command "Forward as attachment" (via keyboard
shortcut or context menu). A composer window appears. The main editing text
area is blank (except possibly for the default template and/or signature for
the default identity).
2. Change the identity.

Observed behaviour:
3. The contents of the forwarded message appear in the editing text area.

Expected behaviour:
3. The contents of the editing text area should not change (except possibly for
the default template and/or signature for the new identity).

[Bug 228006] editing groups terribly slow

2010-02-22 Thread Martin Tlustos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228006

--- Comment #2 from Martin Tlustos 2010-02-22
15:51:57 ---
Nepomuk is running, virtuoso is the backend (actually it's eating up about 70%
of my cpu right now...)
When typing in a name it takes too long for the drop-down box to open and
display the name list, kaddressbook thread takes about 80% of cpu, after about
5 seconds the first letter appears, then slowly the second etc. When searching
the address list for matching entries is finished, cpu goes down again.
Autocompletion is o.k. as far as I can see...
Cheers,
Martin

[Bug 228080] New: Can no longer assign single-key shortcuts for filters

2010-02-22 Thread Tristan Miller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228080

Summary: Can no longer assign single-key shortcuts for filters
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: psychon...@nothingisreal.com

Version:(using KDE 4.4.0)
Installed from:openSUSE RPMs

In previous versions of KMail it was possible to assign filter keyboard
shortcuts to a single key. In KMail 1.13.0 this seems to be no longer
possible. Only keys with modifiers (Ctrl, Shift, etc.) can be assigned
shortcuts.

Reproducibility: Always

Steps to reproduce:
1. Settings->Configure filters
2. Advanced
3. Shortcut
4. Type any single key.

Observed behaviour:
5. Nothing happens

Expected behaviour:
5. KMail should have assigned that key as a shortcut for the filter.

Appears the work around it to not let kmail access kwallet when it initially
starts, i.e.
(i) start kmail before kwallet has been opened,
(ii) click cancel on the access wallet password dialogue box,
(iii) kmail will now start without crashing and request passwords for every
account.
(iv) provide appropriate passwords for each account.

The one point I'm not clear on is if kmail is now storing the passwords outside
of kwallet?

New bugs in KDE4 have been marked as duplicates of this bug without this bug
being re-evaluated.

KDE no longer honors LC_COLLATE! LC_COLLATE is already set to POSIX on my
machine, and Dolphin, Konqueror, and KMail all use case-insensitive sorting
regardless.

I've found the following related bugs in KDE 4, both marked as duplicates of
this bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199244
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217814

Checking my environment from a shell using export or env shows that
LC_COLLATE=POSIX. Manually starting a KDE application with LC_COLLATE=POSIX
makes no difference. Using LC_COLLATE=C gives the same results.

Mail Date format in one secondair directory which contains a other directory is
different than principal directory and gives bad sort of mail

I use Kontact with in french with date format as dd/mm/; In my principal
directories (input - output) But in one of secondair directory, date list
format
is mm/dd/ for some message but not all messages :
One of was with date 03/02/2010 and now the date is 02/03/2010. If I open the
message, date stand in the future 02/03/2010. The same for a other one with
date 03/01/2010 and now date is 01/03/2010.
Now may be the problem comes from the messages and not coming from directory. I
don't know.

all categories in contacts

KDE Platform Version: 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0)

Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-ARCH x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Archlinux Packages

-- Information about the crash:
During login, kontact is started twice and a dialog is presented saying that
Kontact is already running and running a second instance could be dangerous.
Clicking "No" closes both. Clicking "Yes" opens both, named "Kontact" and
something like "Kontact <2>", each with an icon in the tray. Closing "Kontact"
crashes kontact and closes both windows. Closing "Kontact <2>" first did not
crash them until I closed "Kontact" (I only did this once).

According to pstree, all kontact instances are children of a single parent
kontact process.

I'm using Arch Linux with kdemod.

This does not happen on my other accounts on this machine or on my machine at
work also running up-to-date arch linux with kdemod.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[Bug 228140] New: Just tried to start Kontact

2010-02-22 Thread Jonathan Cain
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228140

Summary: Just tried to start Kontact
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: philot...@gmail.com

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.5
KDE Version: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-20-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Input the password for PGP and waited as usual only to experience an immediate
crash. I was not running any intensive applications. I've never experienced
this particular bug before. Not much else to say other than I clicked the link
in my KDE favorites list and then entered the password and it failed right
away.

[Bug 228149] New: Expand subtree on however when dragging

2010-02-22 Thread Arthur Pemberton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228149

Summary: Expand subtree on however when dragging
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: pemb...@gmail.com

Version:(using KDE 4.3.5)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Fedora RPMs

Pre KDE4 hovering on a subtree of a mailbox while dragging email would cause it
to expand. Very useful when ogrianzing email. It would be nice to have that
feature back.
