[Bug 230390] New: Messages are not properly deleted from POP3 server

2010-03-11 Thread Michael Schuerig
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230390

Summary: Messages are not properly deleted from POP3 server
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.1
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: mich...@schuerig.de

Version: 1.13.1 (using 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-3-686

Since my upgrade from KDE 4.3.4 to 4.4.1 and the respective versions of KMail,
I'm having trouble with messages not being properly deleted from the POP3
server. As a result, the affected messages are retrieved from the server again
and again on each periodic mail check. This only stops when I delete these
messages from the server by some other means. KMail is configured to
immediately delete fetched messages from the server.

It is not the case that no messages are deleted from the server. Things work
correctly for a period, then suddenly, messages are not deleted properly
anymore and in turn are retrieved endlessly. A way to provoke this behavior is
to suspend the computer and later resume it.

As far as I can tell, enabling or disabling pipelining doesn't have an effect;
the server reports that is supports pipelining. Normally, I'm using SSL, but
with it switched off, I noticed that apparently KMail does send DELE messages,
however they are ineffectual. I've only been able to observe anything after
things already were broken. I've not been able to observe the breaking itself.

This might all sound like the POP3 server is at fault. However, it is a
widely-used server at my ISP, other users I know of don't have similar problems
-- and my trouble started exactly when I updated to KDE 4.4.1.

[Bug 230332] New: Sidebar not positioned properly sometimes

2010-03-11 Thread Frank Steinmetzger
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230332

Summary: Sidebar not positioned properly sometimes
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.1
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: war...@gmx.de

Version:(using KDE 4.4.1)
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

Sometimes - but not always - the sidebar is not properly positioned in its
place upon Kontact startup. It doesn't fill the whole available space
horizontally, thus the items are not centered and a horizontal scrollbar
appears. I cannot really determine the cause of this - it first occured to me
after Kontact crashed, but it may not have to do anything with that. Screenshot
follows.

[Bug 216806] KCal does not properly submit STATUS Information to Akonadi

2010-03-11 Thread hyper_ch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216806

--- Comment #5 from hyper_ch 2010-03-11 15:30:00 ---
Any news on this?

The problem I face right now is that the Horde people say it's Akonadi's fault.
They don't do it correctly. And the Akonadi people say it's Horde's fault. They
don't do it correctly.

In the end the result is, that it just doesn't work because neither party is
willing to go one step ahead and make it work.

[Bug 230321] New: Kontact (or KMail) crashes sometimes when dragging urls to chromium

2010-03-11 Thread Kai Krakow
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230321

Summary: Kontact (or KMail) crashes sometimes when dragging
urls to chromium
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.1
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: k...@kaishome.de

Application: kontact (4.4.1)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1)
Qt Version: 4.6.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-gentoo-r6 x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Gentoo Packages

-- Information about the crash:
When dragging urls from emails to my browser window (chromium), kontact itself
or the kmail component sometimes crashes. Usually, when that happens, also
chromium crashes, but not always. I'm not sure but I think this is only
reproducable in multimonitor setups when dragging the link across screen
borders and touching other programs during the drag. Never had this problem on
my home pc with only one monitor attached.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

[Bug 223500] Support all contact fields also on LDAP

--- Comment #1 from Geert Janssens 2010-03-11 10:59:22 ---
Yes, this would be a big improvement to kde's addressbook.

The fields I'm particularly missing are postalAddress, homePostalAdress (both
part of the inetOrgPerson object) and to a lesser extent otherPostalAddress
(part of evolutionPerson).

These fields store addresses with newlines replaced with $ signs. They map
rather easily to the addresses in kaddressbook.

[Bug 186502] Kmail crashes at startup / other situations (IMAP-cache related) [QTreeWidget*, KMMimePartTreeItem, partNode::fillMimePartTree, KMail::ObjectTreeParser::insertAndParseNewChildNode]

2010-03-11 Thread Thomas McGuire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186502

--- Comment #48 from Thomas McGuire 2010-03-11 10:58:16 ---
This bug seems to be triggered by two things.

One of the triggers was the contact photo display, that bug was introduced in
4.4.0, and it is where most/all of the recent duplicates come from. Contact
photo display is now disabled in KDE SC 4.4.2, therefore working around the
problem.

The original problem probably still is there, but at least the recent
regression, which was the cause for most/all recent duplicates, is fixed.

[Bug 186502] Kmail crashes at startup / other situations (IMAP-cache related) [QTreeWidget*, KMMimePartTreeItem, partNode::fillMimePartTree, KMail::ObjectTreeParser::insertAndParseNewChildNode]

2010-03-11 Thread Thomas McGuire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186502

--- Comment #47 from Thomas McGuire 2010-03-11 10:45:13 ---
SVN commit 1099282 by tmcguire:

Disable photo display, the exec() in the ContactSearchJob is causing too many
problems.

In this case, the body parts that were loaded on demand arrived during the
exec(), and
modified the MIME tree, which was unexpected by the current parseOTP() run.

Created an attachment (id=41528)
 --> (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=41528)
New crash information added by DrKonqi

The crash happens when I try click on a message that has another message
attached.

The circumstances to reproduce are as reported by others:
- Fancy Theme
- Preview pane enabled

And the workaround works fine here as well:
- Disable "Load attachments on demand"

Hej,

please try the following steps:
  - shutdown KAddressBook/Kontact
  - run 'kaddressbookmigrator' on the command line
(this will copy your contacts from the old location
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf
 to the new location $HOME/.local/share/contacts)
  - start KAddressBook again
  - remove the configured address book
  - add a new address book of type 'Personal Contacts'
  - then all contacts should be back and you can modify/delete them again
