[Bug 230934] New: First search became weird, then kmail went down
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230934 Summary: First search became weird, then kmail went down Product: kmail Version: unspecified Platform: Unlisted Binaries OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: s...@platonix.com Application that crashed: kmail Version of the application: 1.12.4 KDE Version: 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4) Qt Version: 4.5.3 Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 i686 Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid) What I was doing when the application crashed: I have a folder where I dump several mailing lists, and a search to extract one of them. I knew that this search found 26 unread messages out of ~200. Today I glanced at it, and it only showed one unread, and claimed to have only two in total. I tried to look at its details to investigate, and KMail crashed. -- Backtrace: Application: KMail (kmail), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0xb3648700 (LWP 12947))] Thread 6 (Thread 0xaf819b70 (LWP 2493)): #0 0xb783a424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb4d273d2 in pthread_cond_timedwait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () at ../nptl/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/i386/i686/../i486/pthread_cond_timedwait.S:179 #2 0xb5c0b864 in __pthread_cond_timedwait (cond=0xa7b9718, mutex=0xa7b9700, abstime=0xaf819350) at forward.c:152 #3 0xaf91ead3 in ?? [Bug 122028] Corrupt index files after crash, all messages blank
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122028 Nathaniel Taylor n...@ntmm.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||n...@ntmm.org --- Comment #13 from Nathaniel Taylor nkbe ntmm org 2010-03-16 10:40:34 --- I've noticed many times the problem of one or several emails being shown as empty. I can't confirm it for KDE4, which I don't use, but it's been with us at least several years in KDE3. It sounds as though any fix will be by the change to a different underlying program, but I offer the following advice in case it saves time for Kmail users. From my experience of the problem, nothing on the IMAP server is messed up, but only kmail's memory (index) of the content. Using another mail client allows the messages to be read. Deleting Kmail's index files then restarting kmail removes the problem: I have this -- rm -vf $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kmail/imap/.X.directory/.IN* in a script that I run when the problem arises (of course, the number replaced with X... will have to be set to whatever your one is). If the problem is different for local rather than IMAP storage, I'd at least suggest setting kmail to use separate files for storing the emails, rather than mailspool files: limit the extent of corruption! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222684 --- Comment #3 from Dotan Cohen kde-51 dotancohen com 2010-03-16 13:56:48 --- You can use a custom field for that as soon as they are back in 4.5 or later Custom fields are not flexible enough to let one query for information such as: 1) See which pizza restaurant is open on Friday at 02:30 in the morning. 2) See which museums will be open when your old friend comes to visit. 3) Which pharmacy is open on Saturday when your child is sick. If you are concerned about vCard compatibility, then the information could be stored in custom vCard fields. Or the information could be stored in a human-readable format as an amendment to the Notes field, that won't show in Kaddressbook but will show in other apps. Shall I suggest just such a format? but how this will be represented in the UI is a completely open question. This is unimportant until you send a message, but if you receive emails containing a diff/patch to apply to a piece of code, then everything must be indented again (with sad results). This bug has shown up more then 1 year ago in linux kernel mailing list http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/linux-kernel/2007/7/5/112282/thread and it's really a pity that it is still there. [Bug 231004] New: vcard embedded photos: Option to use ENCODING=BASE64 instead of ENCODING=b
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=231004 Summary: vcard embedded photos: Option to use ENCODING=BASE64 instead of ENCODING=b Product: kaddressbook Version: unspecified Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS/Version: unspecified Status: NEW Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: bugzi...@go4more.de CC: to...@kde.org Version:(using KDE 4.4.1) Installed from:openSUSE RPMs Currently Kaddressbook saves vcards with embedded photos with the following line: PHOTO;ENCODING=b;TYPE=image/jpeg... For years now I've tried to sync such vcards with my mobile phones (Nokia, Symbian) and always got errors with this setting. Now I found out that you can synonymous use the following line: PHOTO;ENCODING=BASE64;TYPE=image/jpeg... After changing this line manually in all my contacts, my phone finally accepts the vcards with embedded photos! It would be great to have an option for that in the export function. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 231004] vcard embedded photos: Option to use ENCODING=BASE64 instead of ENCODING=b
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=231004 --- Comment #1 from Larx bugzilla go4more de 2010-03-16 20:10:58 --- Another workaround for broken vcard handys of some Symbian mobile phones (e.g. my Nokia E51): If the embedded picture isn't the last entry in the vcard file, all following entries are discarded by this phone. Maybe Kaddressbook could have a legacy/workaround option in its export functionality in order to fix this problem, and the one described in my first post? BTW, I'm talking about exporting as vcard 2.1, as vcard 3.0 also has problems with German umlauts in my phone. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

For about a week or so, it is not even getting better after messages are downloaded and sorted. I can hardly use the editor any more :( I don't think it is due to the ATI graphic card, it might be an issue of thread priorities. If I use other applications, I can type fluently there.
