I thought about that. But therefore I sent you the statistics that shows all
"mail processes". Don't you think, that the imap- and pop3-processes should
react in this case? Or are there other processes that I can monitor?

Regards, Martin

This is all I can do and all I can say. A little bit simpler: KMail heats my
Notebook while I am doing nothing. And the video I sent you describes what I
can see in ksysguard. What else could I do? When I kill KMail, the usage of
CPU decreases.

Well sometimes the Notebook seems to be slower when woken up out of "suspend-
to-ram". Who knows if that has anything to do with this KMail-Problem?

Tell me what I can do to clarify the situation!

Hi,

I would like to know what's the current status of this bug. I completely agree
with Andrey here, and I think that Kmail should provide an option and let the
user decide whether (s)he wants to wrap the inserted file or not. Also, I'm
not happy with the solution provided by Mike, although I constantly use it. Is
it so hard to include an option which deals with wrapping specifically on
inserted files?

I guess you mean active threads, not processes. KMail can not use CPU without
having active threads, I guess your timing for the backtraces was just unlucky.

> another question: What can we do to exclude that the reason for the problem

It would surprise me if this bug had anything to do with ACPI, that is lower
level than all of the KMail code.
Why do you think it could be related?

> 1) Make sure that saving the message as mbox saves the original encrypted
>message, not the modified one

Fixed, as the OTP doesn't modify the original message anymore.
mStoredMessagePayload can also be removed again.

> 2) What should happen when deleting/edit an attachment that is part of the
>encrypted message? Check what KMail 1 does in this case.

This is buggy in KMail 1, attachment deletion and editing inside of decrypted
nodes does not work. Easiest way around this is to just disable those actions
for those temp nodes.

> 3) Be careful when saving back the message (for some other reason than
>deleting/editing attachments), it should save back the original message,
>not the modified one

Fixed as well, same reason as 1).

> a) In the viewer, the original encrypted nodes are shown as attachments in

Fixed according to Andras.

> b) The signature is marked as invalid, even though it is valid

Fixed as well.

> storeDisplayedMessagesUnencrypted().

For all of the store unencrypted message stuff, we discussed that it is
probably best to rewrite objectTreeToDecryptedMsg() and base it on the
temporary nodes createAndParseChildNodes() creates.

> 6) Make sure insertAndParseChildNode() works, and check all if all callers

Old style mailman messages are fixed, and crypto stuff probably as well.

> 7) trueFromAddress() was incorrectly ported

This is fixed now I guess, after processRfc822Subtype was changed. I might need
to double-check this though.

> Right now, createAndParseTempNode() deletes the node after calling
> parseObjectTree() on it.

We decided on store the newly created nodes in the NodeHelper so that the nodes
can be found again when the OTP is run again on the same tree, in async mode.

> The attachment quick list in the fancy header right now does not work

Probably the easiest way to fix this it to change the AttachmentUrlHander to
take attachments inside of temp nodes into account. This would probably also
fix attachments actions such as save as and others.
It might be an idea to make the mime tree model aware of temp nodes as well,
since we need to be able to see the decrypted nodes in the mime tree viewer.

New crash information added by DrKonqi

Don't know why my bug report got merged with another.

Kontact crashes on launch. Every single time unless kmail is open separately.
Then everythong works fine.

Hello everybody

Updating to Version KDE 4.4.3 did not fix the issue for me. If you need more
data on this please let me know. At the moment this is for me a show stopper. I
cannot use email on this client. Does have anybody some directions for me on
howto resolve this or any help on howto get my client up an running again
without loosing my local stored mails and data, please.

Thank you in advanced.

Kind regards,

Dr.Allcome

Move the firstrun and catalog intialization code from Control to
ServerManager so it's still executed with the new auto-starting code.

Well, this is exactly the situation that describes the bug: No active
processes in KMail but KMail "eats" CPU ressources!

So, what can we do now?

Regards, Martin

[Bug 234681] New: hide tray icon if no new mails

2010-04-18 Thread kaini1123
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=234681

Summary: hide tray icon if no new mails
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kaini1...@gmx.at

Version: 1.13.2 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-20-generic

Hello,

I would love to see a feature to "hide" the KMail tray icon if there are no new
mails.
I know there is a feature to completely remove it when there are no new mails,
but I would much prefer if the icon was hidden like the printer-applet is. (It
is always visible if I click < in the tray icon area but when there are some
printing jobs it will be visible without clicking < too)

Here is an example how it could look like:
("closed" tray icon area /// "opened" tray icon area)
no new mail: <(Other Icons) /// >(Other Icons)(KMail)
new mail:<(Other Icons)(KMail: 1) /// >(Other Icons)(KMail: 1)
