--- Comment #66 from Jesse 2010-06-01 08:21:25 ---
Has everyone who is still having this problem (Frank, Thorsten, Mirza, Juha,
...) tried setting up KMail with the Cached IMAP account type? Or is that not
a good option for some reason? I found that switching to the Cached IMAP
account type solved this problem for me, and I suspect this is a pretty good
workaround for most people. I'm afraid I don't have KMail in front of me at
the moment, but the process is something like this: create a new email account,
and for the type select "cached IMAP".

To the KDE developers: maybe a solution to this bug would simply be to hide the
old, non-cached IMAP account type, and steer people to cached IMAP instead.

[Bug 234832] KMail doesn't delete Mails from POP Server

Interestingly, paying more attention to the logged values: KMail doesn't always
retrieve all the messages, either! The first pass seems to download everything,
and delete some... But then the next few passes might only download 10 out of
14, and delete 11 out of the 14...

[Bug 230466] Emails being composed are no longer autosaved, and lost on Kmail/Kontact shutdown.

2010-05-31 Thread P B
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230466

My KDEHOME is .kde/ rather than .kde4/, and also, the folder I think
corresponding to what you're talking about was in
.kde/share/apps/kmail/autosave

And furthermore, it wasn't mbox format, but Maildir.

But, yes, lo and behold, there were the missing drafts. I created another email
just now, closed Kontact, looked in the directory, and there it was. Restarted
Kontact, but nothing was restored.

[Bug 240287] New: kontact freezes when sending mail

2010-05-31 Thread John Wheaton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=240287

Summary: kontact freezes when sending mail
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail

Akonadi Error

Version: 4.4.2 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS:Linux

I can receive mail just fine with kontact. However, when I try to send mail it
completely freezes.

I have tried sending mail with kmail, but kmail hangs until I get an Akonadi
error message and then it exits or crashes without a crash message.

Akonadi is really becoming a bane to using Kmail. It has now made it unusable
for me. I will attach the error message.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start Kontact.
Compose a new message.

Actual Results:
Freezes within seconds.

Expected Results:
I should be able to compose and send email.

[Bug 185839] Kmail spelling check does not work

For me inline spell checking is not working (Kmail 1.13.3 on KDE 4.4.3,
Archlinux 64bit). With Auto Spell Check enabled in the Composer Window
(Rightclick anywhere in the message) misspelled words are NOT indicated with a
red underline. In the Background Kmail recognizes that a word is misspelled
because right clicking on the work offers you a list of corrections.

Spell checking generally works if initiated from the Menu although I had to
install the aspell-en dictionary which per default was present in the list of
available dictionaries but not working. It then walks you through a spell check
in a popup window which is less than optimal since the background window gets
darkened (KWin) which makes things hard to read.

>Please check that you have aspell (and the languages you want) installed in a
>right way, and that kdelibs use it.

Inline spell checking generally is working in Kate with red underlines but not
in KMail so atm I assume the problem is with Composer

This bug report is old - Should I open another one maybe with screenshots and
some more information? It would be really great to get this fixed - especially
if you have to write in several languages a spell checker is indispensable for
professional emails.

--- Comment #2 from Leo Franchi 2010-05-31 21:40:22 ---
There should now be more feedback on what the error is, and the email should no
longer be sent unsigned.

It is very possible that gpg/gpg-agent is misconfigured on your machine, as
i've been having some trouble getting it to work for me too. Can you do the
following test to see if it works?

1) Send an encrypted or signed mail to yourself, from a working kmail or some
other email client.
2) Copy the part of the email from -BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-
to -END PGP MESSAGE- (including both those lines).

3) in a terminal, type "gpg --decrypt"
4) paste the text you copied
5) press control-D.
6) it should either ask you for your passphrase, or pop up a dialog box asking
for your passphrase, or spit out some errors. either fill in the passphrase,
and then press control-D (if there are no errors), or paste here the error you
see.

thanks!

Here is a temporary workaround that works for me:

Create a new folder in kmail (called lost+found in my case)

rmdir ~/Mail/lost+found/cur
ln -sf ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/autosave/cur ~/Mail/lost+found/cur

rebuild the index (right click on folder in Kmail, properties -> maintainance)

I use Kontact with both IMAP and dIMAP accounts. Some time ago I changed my

stored, but kontact didn't show me a message that it couldn't log in to the
server. It was just quiet.

Same thing happened to me with the connection method. Another mail-provider
changed its server settings and doesn't allow tls-connections anymore but
ssl-connections. Again there was no error message that the login didn't work.

Reproducible: Always

Change server settings back to something that doesn't work (e.g. tls) and try

No new mail appears, no error message

This was/is a bug in the gcc version used by openSUSE to generate kdelibs. All
programs that uses khtml will crash. The latest factory version is generated
using a different gcc version and works fine.

--- Comment #3 from Matěj Laitl 2010-05-31 18:14:45 ---
P B, it may be another much more minor problem.

Can you please try to reproduce it (e.g. start composing, than killing kmail
after a while) and then navigate into $HOME/.kde4/share/apps/autosave/ folder
and check if composed message is here? (in mbox format)

For me it seems that autosaving works correctly, but kmail forgets to open
autosaved messages upon crash.

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Hello,

I have recreated the crash and tried to improve debug info by adding debuginfo
packages. But still I see debug lines with ?? for:
- libglib-2.0.so.0
- libQtGui.so.4
- akregatorpart.so
Which debuginfo packages should I add.

The details are the same as from bug report 240154

[Bug 223034] cannot send mail to distribution list

2010-05-31 Thread karaluh
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223034

--- Comment #11 from karaluh 2010-05-31 09:52:59 ---
It doesn't work for me either. The list is created, but it's empty. Currently
all methods of creating or modifying contact groups fail for me.

I'm hit by exactly the same problem with KDE 4.4.3 on Kubuntu 10.04.
Creation of the distribution list from Kmail or Kaddressbook lead to the same
problem: the list becomes empty.
