Hej,

adding this functionality would introduce a major performance issue.
Deleting a contact would result in querying all contact groups from a system
(which might be thousands or more for big companies) and checking whether
the deleted contact is part of it. Now imagine what happens if you try to
remove 300 contacts in one go...

Ciao,
Tobias

[Bug 242647] New: merging contacts

2010-06-23 Thread Jan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242647

   Summary: merging contacts
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: malte.ge...@googlemail.com
CC: to...@kde.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS:Linux

a very helpfull function would be to be able to merge two or more contacts.
having multiple sources of contacts and groups/lists and deleting one contact
after copying the informations, the contact will be missing in some groups, as
the one who was part of it was deleted.
So merging the contacts and updating the groups would make it much easier to
manage your contatcs.

Reproducible: Didn't try

i don't know if this is the same thing i want to mention, but adding new
contact to a group only searches from the begining of the name. if you remember
only a part of the mail or the last name of a contact, you won't find them at
the group editor dialog.
The searching of this dialog should be just filtering like in the normal list
view of all contacts.
Please tell me if this will be fixed with this commit too?!

I retested this today and I still get the same behaviour as described above
('Disposition-Notification-To: Name Surname ' in the plain text

him that the email has been read)

Am I testing this correctly or should I use different steps to test this
functionality correctly?

It is corrected now.

The selected encoding works when sending emails now.

Note: in an email containing two types of encoding (ex: Chinese characters and
Swedish characters like ä, not both of them can be visible. The user has to
choose which one are the most important. The less important one ends up being
replaced by a '?' after a warning message appears: 'Encoding the message with
EncodingSelected will lose some characters. Do you want to continue?'

--- Comment #2 from Volker Krause 2010-06-23 16:11:15 ---
SVN commit 1141802 by vkrause:

Don't attempt to mark anything but mails as read. Actually, the
mark-as-read logic should be shared with kmail and go into
messageviewer.

This possibly helps with bug 240627 by not confusing the editor conflict
detection with useless flag changes.

Yes, tried with many mails from different people.

If I compose a message the email address is auto-completed, so I am sure the
addressbook is right.

Same thing on 2 machines, both using kubuntu 10.04

Maybe the "Link" to the addressbook is the problem. In Akonadi I have two vcf
adressbooks (private and work) plugged in as "KDE addressbook (taditional)".

Thanks for your time!

[Bug 242598] New: New mail check on an IMAP account (Gmail) sometimes halts

2010-06-23 Thread Gareth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242598

Summary: New mail check on an IMAP account (Gmail) sometimes
halts
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kdeb...@nexustech.co.za

Version: 4.4.3 (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS:Linux

When Kontact runs a check on an IMAP (Gmail) account for new mnessages, the
progress indicator is stopped at some point along its progress and access to
that account is impossible (using the "abort" button does nothing), requiring a
restart of Kontact before access to that account is possible.

Admittedly this seems to occur for accounts when bandwidth is lacking (i.e. a
local mail server never has this problem) so it may be related to an IMAP
timeout issue; i.e. Kontact does not drop and retry to connect but sits
infinitely waiting for a response that never comes. This is just my best guess
however.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
The only possible way to reproduce this (and this is a guess as I am not
entirely sure what could cause it) would be to have an IMAP account over a very
low bandwidth/highly utilised Internet connection that could cause data to stop
and the IMAP server connection to timeout.

Actual Results:
The check new messages status for an account stops its progress and cannot be
aborted or access to that account restored without a restart of Kontact.

Expected Results:
If a connection goes dormant for a specific time, close connection forcefully
and attempt to reconnect again. Alternatively, ensure that the Abort button
does force an IMAP connection close.

2010-06-23 Thread bve
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242563

Summary: Crash on clicking on check mail after resume
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.4.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: b...@gmx.de

Application: kontact (4.4.3)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4)
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.35-999-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

-- Information about the crash:
After resume from suspend kmail normaly can't connect to my imap-folder (or
only to subfolders and not to the main folder). Escecially it won't check mails
(afaik this is a nown bug). This time I immediately after resume clicked on the
button in the menu to check mail which caused kmail to crash.
