[Bug 257565] New: Composer switches to upper case unecesserally when using backspace key

2010-11-21 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257565

Summary: Composer switches to upper case unecesserally when
using backspace key
   Product: KMail Mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS:Linux

If the user types text in the Composer and uses the backspace key to delete a
letter because she made a mistake, when she types the correct letter it is
displayed in upper case even in the middle of a word.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Kmail-mobile
- Click on 'Write new email'
- Type 'Tess'
- Use the backspace key and go back to 'Tes'
- Type 'ting'

Actual Results:
The corrected letter is displayed in upper case for no reason (ex: TesTing)

Expected Results:
Using the backspace key to make correction should not change a word case.

Note: As a result of the bug letters in upper case can be found at the
beginning of words in the middle of a sentence, in the middle of words and at
the end of words.

[Bug 257563] New: Attachment size not always displayed in 'Open file' dialogue

2010-11-21 Thread Sabine Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257563

Summary: Attachment size not always displayed in 'Open file'
dialogue
   Product: KMail Mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sab...@kdab.net

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS:Linux

While browsing to select a file to be attached to an email, a file size is not
always displayed in the 'Open file' dialogue.

However, attaching a huge file is a problem because the N900 is stuck for a
long while while attempting to send the email afterward.

So I think the user needs to be aware of the file size she wishes to attach to
avoid that as much as possible.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Kmail-mobile
- Click on 'Write new Email'
- Enter a subject, a recipient (your imap inbox) and a few words in the text
editor
- Open the 'paper clip' tab
- Click on 'add attachment'
- An 'Open file' dialogue appears

Actual Results:
In it you can see that most files have a date and time displayed underneath
their names but only a few of them have their sizes, especially the pictures
(user/photos) and mp3 files.

Expected Results:
The file sizes should all be displayed to prevent that the user attaches a huge
file without realizing it.

editor

N900.

--- Comment #1 from Sabine Faure 2010-11-22 00:02:50 ---
I tested this today and I can confirm that the 'Remove Attachment'
functionality is missing from the Attachment tab in the Composer.

So atm it is impossible to remove an added attachment in the Composer.

-- Information about the crash:
I finished reading new e-mail messages in KMail, then clicked on the Usenet
icon to retrieve new articles. I clicked on the the header above the newsgroups
names to sort them into alphabetical order, then clicked to get articles in all
news groups. After a few minutes of downloading, without the progress details
showing, all of Kontact suddenly disappeared, leaving a blue desktop, and the
crash handler error screen unfaded into existence in the center of the screen,
Yesterday's latest Harry Potter movie was more interesting. Please repair this
persistent problem.

[Bug 257362] KMail freezes randomly when Composing mail

2010-11-21 Thread Graham Lauder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257362

--- Comment #2 from Graham Lauder 2010-11-21 20:04:06
---
I tried reverting to an earlier version of Kontact, but problem continued.

Turned off KDM and switched to GDM and then ran under Gnome. The freezing
stops.

[Bug 257528] New: KMail needs complete backup and restore like Evolution provides

2010-11-21 Thread roland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257528

Summary: KMail needs complete backup and restore like Evolution
provides
   Product: kmail
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: rol...@logikalsolutions.com

Version: unspecified
OS:Linux

I have requested this many times before and the entry keeps getting deleted.
Migrating to a new machine or a new version of KDE is a massive trail of tears
for anyone that uses the KDE-PIM package. Accounts have to be manually
recreated, emails are a royal pain to transfer, and contacts are almost always
lost, if not completely, at least all of the physical address information.

The developers of Evolution solved these issues long ago. I don't like using
Evolution or the Gnome interface, but, it takes about 45 minutes to migrate to
a new version of Ubuntu using the Gnome/Evolution combination and about 2 days
to migrate the same machine to a new KDE/KDE-PIM combination due to all of the
dorking around caused by lack of backup/restore. In the last 3 years, no two
releases seem to have been even remotely compatible with address and contact
information.

This is a highly frustrating situation which seems to get completely ignored.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
migrate from 10.04 to 10.10 KUbuntu after creating email accounts and filing
hundreds of emails and contacts away.

Actual Results:
you lose a lot of stuff after wasting more than a day.

Expected Results:
a 5 minute backup and restore procedure just like Evolution has

Take a good look at Evolution

I pressed "x" (close) in the upper right corner of the Kontact window. Kontact
closed, but the error reporting assistant appeared, despite the fact that I
didn't notice any problems. However the application probably crashed while

Actuilaly in KMail 1.13.5 this buttons works but description is misleading.
It makes paragraph a bullet/numbered list. So we're still stukc with entering
lots of spaces to adjust text position related to the window.
Yeah, I know real man write mail in text mode, but

Please, add this feature! Have a look at how GMail does, and... make it better
;-)
I'd like to be able to select the fields on which the comparison is made --
GMail doesn't allow this, and the results are often horribly fuzzy.

On the same line, a "find [and merge] duplicates" feature would be great.

Cheers,
  ^s
