I can confirm this bug exist on Kubuntu 11.04 running kde 4.6.3 with kmail
Version 1.13.6 spell check just doesn't work even though it works in other kde
application like choqok. and spell check is turned on on kmail

Just like to add that I am not sure if this is a bug, It seems enabling spell
check in kde systemsettings/locale/spellcheck does the trick.

[Bug 273976] New: Creating notes to specific emails

  Platform: Debian stable
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: mail

ReportedBy: kon...@gmx.de

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS:Linux

It would be great to have the following extended functionality of Kontact:

I receive an email and want to make a note regarding this email. A right click
and selection in the context menu or drag and drop on the component Popup
Notes should offer the possibility to insert a note regarding this email.
Whenever I click on this email my saved not should pop up.

A similar part actually exists with the Create To-do/Reminder ... dialog.
Extending this, one might also have the possibility to combine this with the
To-do List that also the self written note(s) with the email and the reminder
pop up at the chosen remind time.

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 273991] New: Mark message as ... submenu grows way too big when user has defined many tags

2011-05-23 Thread Fuchs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=273991

Summary: Mark message as ... submenu grows way too big when
user has defined many tags
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0 beta1
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: deve...@fuchsnet.ch

If the user has defined many tags (e.g. 100), the mark message as ... submenu
of the contextmenu or the message menu grows way too big, as big as the whole
screen on low resolutions (e.g. netbooks).

The best solution would probably be to provide a dialog to select tags instead.
Or provide it if the list grows to long, similar to the dolphin sidebar (5
most recent entries showed, plus an entry more, which opens the dialog)

I mark this as a bug since the sub menu might fill up the whole screen on a
netbook by just accidentally moving the mouse over this context menu entry,
which makes it hard and annoying to get back to the message list or the context
menu entry the user originally wanted.

Looks like that won't be enough. Forget the previous comment.

I assume what is enough is still being researched? Still seeing the error at
every login, and many duplicates added to this report.

Following is given. You can search with krunner for your people. if you click
on an entry in krunner. kate opens the *,vcf of your contact. but why? i want
to open kadressbook/kontact and see this contact that i have searched for.
second thing is. if i click on a new *.vcf it should ask me to import it, not
open kate xD

[Bug 274007] New: Kaddressbook does not print out error messages when creating a new LDAP address book fails.

2011-05-23 Thread Stephan Diestelhorst
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=274007

Summary: Kaddressbook does not print out error messages when
creating a new LDAP address book fails.
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ldap search
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: stephan.diestelho...@gmail.com
CC: to...@kde.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS:Linux

Have tried to add the company address book to Kaddressbook through LDAP.
Kaddressbook either loops forever, or is just silent, and does not show the new
address book.

Looking into ~/.xsession-errors reveals for example

akonadi_kabc_resource_8(13556): Loading error: Der LDAP-Server gibt folgende
Fehlermeldung aus: Size limit exceeded
Weitere Informationen:
Die LDAP-Adresse ist: ldap://foo;

or

akonadi_kabc_resource_6(13537): Loading error: Der LDAP-Server gibt folgende
Fehlermeldung aus: Operations error
Weitere Informationen: : LdapErr: DSID-0C090627, comment: In order to
perform this operation a successful bind must be completed o
n the connection., data 0, vece
Die LDAP-Adresse ist: ldap://foo;

Two things are a nuisance here:
1) the error message is not conveyed to the user
2) the settings for the new address book are lost, making incremental fixes to
the LDAP data impossible

I will report the size limit exceeded issue as a separate bug.

Thanks for looking into this!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* open kaddressbook
* create new address book
* standard resource
* LDAP
* enter not quite the right LDAP settings

Actual Results:
Error messages are not sent to the user.
The user is not notified of a problem.
The entered server data etc. is lost.

Expected Results:
* dialog with the LDAP server's error message
* be back at the setup pane, with settings still filled in

[Bug 274008] New: Kaddressbook causes a Size limit exceeded on server by not support ing the paging extension

2011-05-23 Thread Stephan Diestelhorst
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=274008

Summary: Kaddressbook causes a Size limit exceeded on server

It seems that my company's LDAP server has a limit smaller than the number of
employees ( 1000). While setting the limit field in the query pane is fine,
the server still sends an error if the number of results exceeds that limit.

What the actual fix should be is using the simple paging extension as described
in RFC 2696.

With the command line tool ldapsearch the following parameters work:

  ldapsearch -LLL -h server -x -W -D user -b base (objectClass=user) cn
objectClass -E pr=100

prints several results and then

Press [size] Enter for the next {100|size} entries.

Which returns the next 100 entries.
With nromal limiting like this

  ldapsearch -LLL -h server -x -W -D user -b base (objectClass=user) cn
objectClass -E pr=100

I get:

  Size limit exceeded (4)

Together with bug 274007, this is quite annoying.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Query an LDAP server that has more entries than either the configured or
specified size limit.

Actual Results:
Kaddressbook does not create an address book due to the server error message.

Expected Results:
Kaddressbook should use the paging extension and query the huge address book
page by page, as to not exceed the size limitation.
