[Bug 275418] IMAP (sub-)subfolders empty in kmail2

I can confirm this with Kmail 2.1.0 on KDE 4.6.4. IMAP server in use is Dovecot
1.2.12

All subfolders appear empty. The containing folder appear to have a correct
message count.

Possibly important, the subfolders are not under the inbox (which is named
INBOX). The containign folders are all on the same level as INBOX, like this;

Afolder
Bfolder
Container1
 - some messages
 Subfolder1
 Subfolder2
Dfolder
Efolder
INBOX
Ffolder
ListcontainerFolder
 List1
 List2
OneMoreFolder

and so on. All folders on the first level are correct. The subfolders appear
empty

[Bug 275567] IMAP subfolders messed up after migration from KMail 1

--- Comment #1 from Arne K. Haaje 2011-06-27 09:22:24 ---
I can confirm this. After first using the migration tool, all sub-folders
showed up empty.

As the OP suggested, I deleted the account and recreated it manually. Now all
folders show up correctly.

btw, I first confirmed on 275418, but it appears the issue is with the
migration tool, so this is probably the right place for it.

[Bug 275418] IMAP (sub-)subfolders empty in kmail2

2011-06-27 Thread Modestas Vainius
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275418

--- Comment #2 from Modestas Vainius 2011-06-27 09:52:23
---
In short the cause of this bug is that migrator assumes (or misdetects) that a
IMAP hierarchy separator. It assumes it to be '/' (GMail default) while dovecot
uses '.' by default. If you're using akonadi mysql backend (if not, you can
still adapt the instructions), read the IRC conversation below to fix this for
your setup. Please note that these instructions deal with consequences, not the
cause.

[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:07:42] do have imap folders like
INBOX/something ?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:07:55] or rather INBOX.something
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:08:51] On my private accout all
folders are subfolders of INBOX
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:19] and they open fine?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:24] yes
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:35] MoDaX: wait
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:38] no they don't
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:41] heh
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:09:44] :S
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:10:39] Did I lose all my mails in
INBOX/sent ?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:11:10] otherperson: not yet
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:11:19] promising words :D
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:11:19] kmail2 does not show them
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:11:57] MoDaX: strange is, that I
sent a test mail, and it (and only it) is visibile in IBOX/sent
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:12:43] otherperson: akonadi cached it,
it's not on the imap server though
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:12:54] ok
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:13:01] you better delete it
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:13:08] so how do I make
subfolders visibile
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:13:12] ok
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:13:27] otherperson: scroll back to my
backlog from yesterday
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:13:53] I hope you use mysql as akonadi
backend, don't you?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:14:39] MoDaX: yes
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:16:10] otherperson: this is going to be
a bit tricky. connect to mysql server
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:16:12] mysql --socket
~/.local/share/akonadi/socket-`hostname`/mysql.socket
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:16:47] there do 'use akonadi'
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:17:14] database changed
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:18:02] otherperson: select id,
remoteid, name, parentid from collectiontable;
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:18:16] remember IDs of your imap
folders
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:19:17] stop kmail2
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:19:23] where to find the ID's
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:19:29] IDs
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:19:43] otherperson: select gave them to
you
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:19:51] first column
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:20:10] MoDaX: ahh, overread that
line
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:20:12] ok
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:20:30] kmail stoped
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:21:25] your mailbox subfolders should
be sequential and fit into min <= id AND id <= max . find those min and max
from the output
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:22:33] so there is a line:
7->imap:... and all in between until 27->/Trash
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:22:51] is then 8-27 ?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:23:00] yeah
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:23:13] what you need to do here is to
change the first symbol of remoteid column from '/' to '.'
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:23:14] ok
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:23:37] update collectiontable set
remoteid = concat('.', substr(remoteid from 2)) where id >= 80 AND id <= 85
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:23:43] replace min and max
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:25:47] then in another console restart
akonadi (akonadictl restart). mysql server will restart, reconnect to it and
recheck with select if remoteid where actually changed
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:27:37] ok, went fine I guess
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:27:42] start kmail2 ?
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:28:08] really annoying bug
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:28:24] imagine explaining this to
old users at a university
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:28:29] yeah, start it
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:28:46] folder icons should be back too
now
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:28:53] MoDaX: Yippie
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:29:00] thanks a lot
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:29:55] but kmail2 might still eat your
mail. better disable automatic expurging in account settings. might help
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:30:20] I think I have already "saved" 5
mails with this today
[Wednesday 15 June 2011] [01:30:33] they are both 'deleted' and
'unread' now :)

I am using Dovecot on one of my servers, the others have Courier-IMAP I think.
Is this one also affected by this bug? Because on both of them I don't see any
subfolder contents.

Can I edit the db with normal SQLite tools if using SQLite? Or is there
something to keep in mind?

[Bug 276186] Crash on startup while loading mail

New crash information added by DrKonqi

kmail (2.1.0) on KDE Platform 4.6.4 (4.6.4) using Qt 4.7.3

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

On startup it begins getting mail, then it starts filtering and shows many
messages that there where mails it could not read from the folder.

After filtering, it dies.

Trying to abort the filtering did not help (and did not work: it said
“aborting” in the progress indicator (bottom right), but then started the
filtering and died nontheless).

I had some disk-full errors some time ago, so this might be related.

PS: Dr. Konqui to append to the bugreport is extremely useful. I hope my
reports help…

Summary: Messages aren't signed automatically, if the current
identity isn't the default identity
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: Chakra
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: michael.saalf...@arcor.de

Created an attachment (id=61366)
 --> (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=61366)
PDF file with screenshots

Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

I created two identities and added a PGP key to the none-default identity. Also
I activated the option 'automatically sign messages'. When I now create a new
message and select the identity, the message isn't signed automatically. If
this identity becomes the default identity, the message is signed
automatically.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create at least two identities. Add a pgp-key to the one, which is not the
default. Activate the option 'automatically sign messages'. Press the button
'New message' and select the identity.

Actual Results:
The message isn't signed automatically.

Expected Results:
The message should be signed.

[Bug 276611] New: Each time I start KMail it starts filtering (with SpamAssasin)

2011-06-27 Thread Jure Repinc
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276611

Summary: Each time I start KMail it starts filtering (with
SpamAssasin)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: filtering
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@holodeck1.com

Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

Everytime I start KMail it appears to go through all the e-mail and starts
applying the anti-spam filtering with SpamAssasin. I don't even click the
button to Check for new mail, I just start Kmail. If I open the detailed
progress window it shows several item saying "filtering messages" and I can see
spamassasin process in KSysGuard. The KMail is set to fetch POP3 mail and I
have configured MySQL for akonadi storage. I also have a lot of mail and have
filters set up to move them into specific folders.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start KMail

Actual Results:
KMail starts filtering messages with spamassasin

Expected Results:
It should probably filter new messages only when KMail fetches new messages
from POP3 e-mail server and shouldn't run it on already local and filtered
mail.

I would like to report the same problem.

I have checked and both Thuderbird and Evoution clients work flawlessly with
IMAP tags. Both standard and custom. However, Kmail is unable to set tags
properly to the server so that the tag can be identified or synced with other
clients.

Furthermore, not even Kmail itself is able to identify through the server the
tags set by another Kmail client or either.

You can see a videoclip that shows clearly the problem in the following link.
https://web.cimne.upc.edu/users/ubach/otros/kmail-kmail.ogv

Please, solve this bug, because it is making unusable a very important feature
of the IMAP protocol.

CPU Usage after mark as read

Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:MS Windows

When you select several emails and do a action like "Mark Mails as Read / Mark
Mails as Unread" etc. you get an extreme spike in CPU usage of Virtuoso while
akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder produces loads of debug output.
Test was with 500 Mails and took ~60 secons high
During this time my hard disk was also working on its limit.

Attached is a screenshot of the cpu usage (grid x axis is 5 seconds) and the
unshortened debug output created during this action.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select ~500 Mails
2. Mark Mail as read / unread

Actual Results:
CPU usage and Disk IO Spikes. For 60-100 seconds in my tests, i guess this will
depend on your machine.

Expected Results:
Marking some hundred mails with a tag/flag should not take several minutes.

[Bug 276635] New: In certain KMail2 setups filters dont get applied

2011-06-27 Thread malte.gell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276635

Summary: In certain KMail2 setups filters dont get applied
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: filtering
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: malte.g...@gmx.de

Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

If you have the following setup, KMail2 (and KMail from older KDE 4.6.x tree as
well!) does not apply filter rules: Have several POP3 accounts on your KMail2.
Create an own inbox folder for each POP3 account, this user created inbox can
be anywhere, but you must not use the default inbox folder. Now create a test
filter, e.g. filter for subject line or sender. Now, when you fetch mail, the
filter does not get applied.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Have several POP3 / email accounts. Create some subfolders. In KMail2 chose
these subfolders as inbox folders for your POP3 accounts. Create an incoming
filter, filter for e.g. subject, sender or List-Id. Set the filter to apply it
for each of your POP3 email account and to apply it when fetching mails. Now
fetch email with KMail2. You will see the filters do not get applied
automatically. You still can run them individually and manually when you go to
your user created inbox and apply the filter to each arrived message. This
works, but automatic application of filters does not work if you use user
created subfolders as your own inbox for POP3.

Actual Results:
Filters do not get applied automatically.

Expected Results:
KMail2 should apply filters automatically when fetching email, even if you use
your own custom inbox folders for POP3 accounts.

This behaviour is not only seen in KMail2, but also with older KMail versions
from KDE 4.6.x on my machine at least. I regard this serious, because filtering
is a powerful and important tool for daily email usage.

In my case I get this note when I delete mails from folders with POP3 mails.
When I delete messages from my IMAP account it does not occur.

[Bug 276647] New: group mail by subject, most recent on top

2011-06-27 Thread Danny Auble
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276647

Summary: group mail by subject, most recent on top
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: d...@schedmd.com

Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS:Linux

This really isn't a bug, but more of a feature request.

I would like to be able to group messages by subject and then sort them by date
so the most recent is on top.

Threading sort of gives me this with the inverse of the sorting.

The problem I have with Threading the the tree structure. If a thread is very
long and contains a bunch of branches pretty soon it is very hard to figure out
where the most recent message is found.

It would be nice to have the thread with no indention and sorted just by the
date with no respect to where the message is in the tree of the thread.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
The messages grouped together by subject/thread with no tree structure, sorted
by date with the most recent on top.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-8-generic
Compiler: cc
