[Bug 277597] New: Akonadi takes up to 100% CPU and is very slow fetching mail
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277597 Summary: Akonadi takes up to 100% CPU and is very slow fetching mail Product: Akonadi Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: POP3 Resource AssignedTo: mcgu...@kde.org ReportedBy: k...@etruscott.co.uk CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.4) OS:Linux I have installed the most up to date kdepim packages with the appropriate akonadi packages from Kubuntu experimental. I use a pop3 mail and the akonadi resource goes to 90-100% and so makes system unusable. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276077 --- Comment #6 from2011-07-12 05:36:11 --- Side note: Maybe NetworkManager needs some fixing in that area, too, but its use cases have always been extremely shallow, so I think we should try and stay independent of it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 276077] unable to send queued message
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276077 --- Comment #5 from2011-07-12 05:32:43 --- In my case it turns out that NetworkManager is the cause. When I make a network connection with NetworkManager, sending mail works perfectly, but when I shut down NetworkManager, the akonadi mail dispatcher switches to offline mode and stays that way. There's the "Work offline" entry in the "File" menu which has no effect on this. Maybe a nice solution would be to allow the user to override the status message from NetworkManager via this menu entry? I.e. NetworkManager goes offline -> KMail switches to offline mode (incl. notification). Then I can switch KMail back online explicitly with File/Work online. For the time being, it would be nice to have a workaround using some dbus-send quirkery if possible. I tried: dbus-send /MailDispatcherAgent org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Agent.Status.onlineChanged boolean:true dbus-send / org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Agent.Status.onlineChanged boolean:true dbus-send /modules/networkstatus org.kde.Solid.Networking.Client.statusChanged uint32:4 But that seems to have no effect. Maybe the message is only accepted from a specific sender? Dunno what to do here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 249971] Kontact dies after computer wakes up from sleep
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249971 DGardner changed: What|Removed |Added CC||d...@gardnersworld.org --- Comment #1 from DGardner 2011-07-11 13:15:06 --- I have the exact same problem. When my laptop awakes from sleep (suspend to RAM), the WiFi network needs to reconnect and everything then works normally except for KMail. Most of the time KMail will appear to be working and will report that no new messages are found on the server (even though there *are* new messages, but I can't know that until later). However, if I switch IMAP folders, I just get the "Retrieving folder messages" page indefinitely, so then I know that something is wrong. When this happens, quitting KMail and restarting it does not work. If I just use "File -> Quit" the "kmail" process will remain running in the background (with no window). Only if I kill this process and start KMail again does it go back to normal...until the next time I close the lid on the laptop and put it back to sleep. As this happens several times a day, it is very annoying and I often miss e-mails for a day or two. I'm thinking of switching to a different MUA, as KMail (which I've used for about a decade on desktop systems) is more trouble than it's worth on a laptop. OS: Linux 2.6.38.8-32.fc15.x86_64 (Fedora 15 64-bit) KDE version: 4.6.3 KMail version: 1.13.7 (I'm not using Kontact, just standalone KMail) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Even worse: If there are multiple unread messages in sequence, selecting the first makes the next also disappear, because dropping a selected message automatically selects the next (interestingly not all disappear in a domino effect). Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Do not dynamically update filtered message list in case message state changes due to the user selecting messages. [Bug 277530] New: Kmail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: You do not have read/write access to your inbox folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277530 Summary: Kmail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: You do not have read/write access to your inbox folder Product: kmail2 Version: 2.1.1 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: s.pa...@spiekerbros.com Version: 2.1.1 (using KDE 4.6.4) OS:Linux For ages I have kept my mail in /home/user/Mail. The migration tool for 2.1.0 always crashed, but the migration tool for kmail 2.1.1. actually successfully created all POP3 accounts and also recognized the /home/user/Mail directory as a valid Maildir. However, upon starting Kmail (or Kontact), the application tells that a fatal error was encountered (see summary). I checked and re-checked and re-re-checked all permissions and the /Mail directory, all its subs and all files in there are owned by the user, and have all the right permissions (read / write and execute on the directories) In Kmail the top folders do show up, but none of the subfolders, let alone email messages in them. (well over 20k messages) When trying to do a "retrieve mail" on the KMail folder in Kmail, I get messages such as "Folder /home/user/Mail/drafts does not seem to be a valid email folder" (also for templates, trash etc.) Another message that pops up is "Kmail Folders; Access control prohibits item creation in folder 'Foldername'". For testing purposes I have created a new account under linux and there Kmail works like a charm, so it seems to be choking on some old setting. New email messages do get retrieved from the email servers and do show up in Kmail, but not where I would expect them. Downgrading makes me loose these newly donwloaded messages, so I have now told akonadi to keep messages on the server. So far I have no choice but to downgrade again to a 1.x version of Kmail. I don't seem to be the only one with this problem if I do a Google, but I still need to find the golden solution. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See above Expected Results: All email folders show up as expected containing all my email. [Bug 276185] Restart of kontact not possible
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276185 --- Comment #2 from Andre Heinecke 2011-07-11 07:47:48 --- If you can reproduce this reliably this is a good thing, it has been reported to me from some users but only as "sometimes" behavior and we have not found the trigger. It would be very helpful if you could do the following: 1. > Go to you Kontact installation folders /bin directory and start kdebugdialog > and select all debug output there 2. Download DebugView ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647 ) 3. Start Kontact, start debugview then close kontact and attach the log to this bugreport As workarounds i can offer: a) Start the taskmanager and kill the kontact process manually b) In you Kontact/bin installation folder there is a killkde.bat this will also terminate everything. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
