[Bug 279260] New: 1 byte file makes kmail2 not display any emails in a folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279260 Summary: 1 byte file makes kmail2 not display any emails in a folder Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Unlisted Binaries OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: sven.burmeis...@gmx.net Version: unspecified OS:Linux Preliminary bug: kmail2/akonadi create 1 byte files in mail directories. Those files cause kmail2 to not show any emails for that folder. The loading overlay icon keeps on spinning forever. Taken from bug 263223 which is actually a different issue. I run akonadiconsole and got this output when clicking on the KMail folder: posting retrieval request for item 63748 there are 1 queues and 0 items in mine processing retrieval request for item 63748 parts: (ENVELOPE) of resource: akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_1 request for item 63748 still pending - waiting akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_1(29349)/akonadiresource (maildir): Failed to read item {869a924c-06ab-4538-97df-bbd3cffb991b} in Maildir /home/mcv/Mail/inbox akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_1(29349)/akonadiresource (maildir): Error while reading mails from folder continuing request for item 63748 {869a924c-06ab-4538-97df-bbd3cffb991b} failed: Resource was unable to deliver item ItemRetrieverException : Resource was unable to deliver item Actually there is a file named like above (in ~/Mail/inbox/new), but it's only one byte long, hexedit shows: 0x0a. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Create a 1 byte file in a local mail directory alternative: find out how akonadi/kmail2 manages to do so Actual Results: kmail2 does not display any emails in that folder Expected Results: do not create 1 byte files ignore 1 byte files and display the folder's content -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 279279] New: (KStatusNotifierItem): Message Counts in KMail tray icon don't show when using a plasma themed svg icon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279279 Summary: (KStatusNotifierItem): Message Counts in KMail tray icon don't show when using a plasma themed svg icon Product: kmail2 Version: 2.1.0 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: public.kubicle+kdeb...@gmail.com Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.7.0) OS:Linux Kmail2 now uses KStatusNotifierItem for the tray icon, which means the icon is plasma themable by adding a kmail.svg(z) file in a plasma theme. The svg icon works fine, but the unread email overlays don't show on the icon when using a svg icon, probably because of the way the overlay is drawn in kmsystemtray.cpp: [quote] // Paint the number in a pixmap QPixmap overlayPixmap( overlaySize, overlaySize ); overlayPixmap.fill( Qt::transparent ); QPainter p( overlayPixmap ); p.setFont( countFont ); KColorScheme scheme( QPalette::Active, KColorScheme::View ); p.setBrush( Qt::NoBrush ); p.setPen( scheme.foreground( KColorScheme::LinkText ).color() ); p.setOpacity( 1.0 ); p.drawText( overlayPixmap.rect(), Qt::AlignCenter, countString ); p.end(); QPixmap iconPixmap = mIcon.pixmap(overlaySize, overlaySize); QPainter pp(iconPixmap); pp.drawPixmap(0, 0, overlayPixmap); pp.end(); setIconByPixmap( iconPixmap ); [/quote] Because of this, a user cannot tell whether there is new mail by looking at the tray icon. Possible ways to fix: 1. draw the message count overlay in an plasma theme (svg) friendly way, if possible, or 2. use a different icon (mail-unread-new, for example) when there is new mail. This won't show the email counts either, but provides visual feedback for the user when there are new mails. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a valid plasma themed kmail.svg icon in your plasma themes icon folder. 2. Configure kmail to always show the tray icon 3. Restart plasma and kmail if necessary to show the new icon 4. Wait for new mail Actual Results: New message count is not shown on the tray icon. Expected Results: Message count is shown on the icon when there are new mails. The above is also true for akregator's icon (when using a plasma themed svg), I can report a new bug report for akregator if requested. If you need more information, I'd be happy to provide it. [Bug 279279] (KStatusNotifierItem): Message Counts in KMail tray icon don't show when using a plasma themed svg icon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279279 --- Comment #2 from Kubicle public kubicle+kdebugs gmail com 2011-08-03 15:08:11 --- Thanks for a quick response. Yes, this more of a minor nuisance (not many plasma themes include kmail/akregator icons), with a number of workarounds available (like using a customized regular png icon for theming). The use case for always show icon is that this is the only way (that I know of) to keep kmail loaded and running in the background when closing it's window, so it would be nice to have some new message feedback even with an svg icon (even if message counts are off the table at this point). For example, kopete handles svg icon files nicely by switching kopete and kopete-offline icons when necessary (and can even load the small status overlays over the svgs). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279101 --- Comment #3 from Thomas Olsen tanghus gmail com 2011-08-03 15:28:07 --- (In reply to comment #2) Have you found a way to replicate this issue? Were items removed on the server before the crash? Have you deleted items locally? Nothing should have happened serverside. I might have added event(s) to KOrganizer which would then have been synced to memotoo.com via the traditional Calendar in remote file resource. BTW: the two CalDAV resources where disabled (not checked in KOrganizer) when the crashes occurred. Apparently the dav resource is doing something wrong, but this is going a little too far in Akonadi's internals to diagnose by just looking at a BT (at least for me), so I'd like to replicate this to debug. As it took a while (several logins/reboots) for the crash to appear it might take a while to see if I can reproduce it. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279331 Summary: Autocompletion of addresses from address book is suboptimal Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Unlisted Binaries OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: tsdg...@terra.es Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0) OS:Linux The autocompletion of addresses from the adress book seems to work in a very strange way (at least compared to kmail 1 behaviour) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: This is my setup in the address book * Have one person named Dan XXX * Have one person named Dani XXX * Have three people named Daniel XXX This is what happens when i start kmail from scratch and try to write an email * Type d in the To: field (noone is suggested) * Type a (da) in the To: field (noone is suggested) * Type n (dan) in the To: field (Dan is suggested) * Type i (dani) in the To: field (Dani is suggested) * Type e (danie) in the To: field (noone is suggested) * Type l (daniel) in the To: field (3 Daniel are suggested) * Press backspace (danie) in the To: field (3 Daniel are suggested) * Press backspace (dani) in the To: field (Dani and 3 Daniel are suggested) * Press backspace (dan) in the To: field (Dan, Dani and 3 Daniel are suggested) * Press backspace (da) in the To: field (Dan, Dani and 3 Daniel are suggested) * Press backspace (d) in the To: field (Dan, Dani and 3 Daniel are suggested) * From now on everytime you write a d you get all the suggestions Expected Results: I would expect that typing a d in the To: field always yields the same results, while at the moment it returns noone or 5 people depending the situation OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.39-ARCH Compiler: gcc -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 164997] kmail opens attachments RO and saves attachements RO which is hugely annoying and should be an option

[Bug 279336] New: Kmail config wizard retains focus - makes initial configuration on plasma-netbook almost impossible
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279336 Summary: Kmail config wizard retains focus - makes initial configuration on plasma-netbook almost impossible Product: kmail2 Version: 1.99.0 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: k...@kitterman.com Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.0) OS:Linux The account configuration wizard will alway retain focus. This means that when kwallet pop-ups or SSL error confirmation dialogues pop-up they are difficult to access with plasma-desktop and impossible to access with plasma-netbook. This did not happen with kdepim 4.4. The default windeco for netbooks maximizes all windows and it is neither possible to shrink the configuration wizard nor to alt-tab to the kwallet access request that is behind it (even if you use present windows and click on the kwallet dialogue, the mail configuration window still ends up on top. This makes kmail almost unusable on netbooks. The only way I've found to do it is switch to plasma-desktop, configure kmail, and then switch back. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: On a fresh install with no kmail accounts configured, run a plasma-netbook session, start kmail and then try to configure it. Actual Results: Mail accounts not set up in akonadi because I couldn't give akonadi permission to access the wallet. Once I managed to get the dialogue accepted, but I'm not quite sure how. Expected Results: Accounts set up and working kmail. OS: Linux (i686) release 3.0.0-7-generic Compiler: gcc Note: I'm marking this major because although it doesn't cause data loss, it makes it pretty impossible to actually get to your data and use it. Without that an MUA is pretty pointless. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
