Wow, why did I not see this option? I even tried the usual (Ctrl+)U shortcut
that I know from other mailers or browsers. Thanks!

But it's still a bug, isn't it? Although a very minor one now.

[Bug 280696] New: Allow to load remote content for senders on whitelist

2011-08-24 Thread Andreas Roth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280696

Summary: Allow to load remote content for senders on whitelist
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ar...@arsoft-online.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

By default Thunderbird does not load remote content, but it display a
notification to download it. The user can download it and/or add the sender to
a white list so any future mail the remote content will be downloaded
automatically.
This would be a nice feature in KMail too.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Get E-Mail with remote content (e.g. amazon promotion mails)

Actual Results:
KMail blocks the remote content. User has to select to download the remote
content for each mail.

Expected Results:
Allow user to create a white list of sender which automatically load the remote
content.

Manually removing the .local/share/.local-mail.directory actually recreated the
outbox as a Postausgang, which is the localised version. Right-click on it
now does not even offer me the option of sending the outbox. What a mess.

   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: mail
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: stephan.diestelho...@gmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

My Sent Items folder on an IMAP share had been deleted, after I changed to it
in my account preferences as the folder where sent mail should be saved. This
cost me emails of several years to be gone :-/

This is KMail2 on Kubuntu 11.04, from kubuntu-experimental PPA.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
Tried to reproduce with a different folder, but didn't work (yet).

Actual Results:
The entire folder Sent Items was empty except for the emails sent on that
particular date.

Expected Results:
The old sent messages should have stayed in there.

This is a IMAP on an Exchange server.

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

ReportedBy: stephan.diestelho...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 pre (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

I cannot create top-level subfolders on an IMAP account. Right-clicking on the
account name does not offer the option of new subfolder. Whenever I do click
on an existing folder inside, I can actually add a subfolder of that one.

Movin an existing folder to top level does not work either, the existing Move
Here in the move context menu does not exist.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
a) Right-click on an IMAP account (backed through AKonadi) in Kmail2.

b) Right click - move folder

Actual Results:
a) no item to create a new top-level subfolder

b) no way to move here when navigating to the top level folder

Expected Results:
a) have an item to create a subfolder at the top level

b) Move here button when selecting the top folder

this is on Kubuntu 11.04 with packages from Kubuntu experimental PPA.

It would be very useful to have a search widget show up for adding attachments
while you are composing a new message.

If Nepomuk is enabled then it should be easy to perform that search.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Expected Results:
Some UI options in order of preference
1) text input widget always at the bottom of the compose window where I can
type the filename or directory and a list of matching paths dynamically pops up
above
2) Pressing ctrl-a would pop up a search dialogue at the bottom of the
compose window
3) A search button in the file selection dialogue when I click the Attach
button
4) Put the compose text box and an attachment manager section in tabs. I
would bring up the compose window and be able to type as I have in the past,
but if I wanted to add an attachment I'd click the attachments tab and be
able to browse the filesystem dolphin-style (which would include searching
options). Any file I wanted to attach I would drag over to a list widget on
the left-hand side. To continue writing the email I would switch back to the
message tab

KDE Platform Version: 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
Qt Version: 4.7.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.04

-- Information about the crash:
- Background
I am setting up kmail on a new machine. I copied some filter files from my old
kmail on my old machine. I finished setting up accounts, appearance, etc. I
copied all the mail content from my old kmail to the new kmail. I've started
and exited kmail a couple of times.

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
setting expiry on folders
I set expiry on trash (read=30, unread 14). That went fine.
I set expiry on zRjct read=90, unread=120. When I clicked ok (or something),
kmail died instantly.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
I could not run kmail from the system bar (it would blink a few times, then
nothing came up). I was running it in from a terminal. It has been spewing all
manner of warnings and errors during regular operation. Here are the last few

Just to note, this may not be related to this bug, but I use Kontact with about
10 IMAP accounts, and some of those are shared IMAP accounts, and every 2 days
I have to close kmail/kontact and then manually kill all the processes.. about
6-20 processes hand around, and kontact also hangs around. From the GUI, if
you make the mistake of trying to start kontact, it appears to try to start,
then dies silently, no warning that another kontact instance is still running.
The IMAP processes seem to be stuck on: select(4, [3], [], NULL, NULL, while
the kontact process is hung with:

read(8, 0x8268d68, 4096)= -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)

and it loops.. It also seems that the reason we get the system CPU runaway, is
that the kontact process keeps spawning new IMAP connections, but doesn't close
the legacy ones that it lost contact with or is waiting on..

I'm having the same problem here... Opensuse 11.4, KDE 4.7 from semi-official
KDE 4.7 Core repository of opensuse
(http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/47/openSUSE_11.4/).

Moved all my messages from last year from a folder on one IMAP account to a
folder on another IMAP account - within KMail this looks fine, all messages are
in the new folder, but when I log in to the IMAP servers using another computer
I see the following: the messages are gone in the source folder, but do not
appear in the destination folder!

I tried to create a new folder on the destination IMAP server and copy the
message to this new folder, but this doesn't work either. Again, in KMail all
looks fine, but the new folder is never really created on the server!

Please help: Does anyone have an advice how to recover the messages? As said,
they are still there within KMail, but how can I put them back to the server in
order to not loose them?

This is a really serious issue! I have been using KMail (1.x) for years now and
did never loose a single message.

unfortunately, I have put my observations in the wrong thread! Sorry for that.
The problem with pinentry-qt4 (input dialog window foe entering passphrase)
still persists. Using Kmail alone is fine as long as I use pinentry-gtk-2 for
Encryption, Signing or Decryption (of course with gpg-agent.conf setup to
include the statements supplied above. The complete system break-down occurs as
soon as kleoptatra is installed (its use-agent dependency is fixed and points
to pinentry-qt4). No amount of configuration tuning helps to get the
pinentry-qt4 input window to come to fore and accept any meaningful entry. The
work-around to replace pinentry-qt4 with pinentry-gtk-2 fails too. As a result
no encryption or decryption is possible with kleopatra installed together with
kmail. I had to remove the package kleopatra to get the kmail up and running
again with pinentry-gtk-2.

[Bug 280746] New: Once kmail is opened twice (same user, different session. e.g.: Opening a remote session). Messages are not available

2011-08-24 Thread Aitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280746

Summary: Once kmail is opened twice (same user, different
session. e.g.: Opening a remote session). Messages are
not available
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m...@aitorpazos.es

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

Opening kmail twice (for example through a ssh session) render messages on
kmail unavailable. The original instance is not able to access selected
messages and new instances are opened with a blank folders list. The following
notification is reported for every configured account(I use Spanish so I hope
translation is OK):
m...@aitorpazos.es: Unknown error. (There is no transaction in progress.)

After restart, everything comes back to normal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open kmail as usual.
Log in opening a new session where we can open GUI apps (ssh with X forwarding,
Remote Desktop, etc)
Launch kmail
Try to read any mail

Actual Results:
Errors are notified and messages are not available.

Expected Results:
Messages should be available on both kmail instances or the second kmail
instance should be refused to start.
