[Bug 285676] akonadi blocks kmail because of searching for bogus emails

I may have the same kind of problem, reported in the bug 285809 : after
upgrading to KDE 4.7.3, everytime kmail start synchronizing some specific
folders, it hangs handlessly. I indeed saw in the console identical messages to
the above about missing files, though. I didn't have this issue with KDE 4.7.2.
I've been using akonadi 1.6.2 in both versions of KDE.
Lote that going back to KDE 4.7.2 now doesn't seem to fix the issue.

[Bug 285846] New: kmail2 doesn't refresh folder tree during import process

2011-11-05 Thread Fabio Rossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285846

Summary: kmail2 doesn't refresh folder tree during import
process
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ross...@inwind.it

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I'm using kmail2 import procedure (kmail maildir and folder structure). When I
have to choose the folder to import to, I create a new folder but the folder
tree is not updated so the new folder is not selectable. Moreover if I cancel
the procedure the main folder tree is kmail2 is neither updated until next
restart of the application (i.e. the folder is successfully created but not
visible).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) select import procedure for kmail maildir format
2) when selecting the destination folder to import to create a new folder
3) the new folder is not selectable

Actual Results:
the new folder is not selectable

Expected Results:
the new folder should be visible and selectable

[Bug 285845] New: endless waiting for CardDAV sources in kaddressbook

2011-11-05 Thread Egbert König
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285845

Summary: endless waiting for CardDAV sources in kaddressbook
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: e.ku...@home.nl
CC: to...@kde.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

If I create a new CardDAV source in kaddressbook, contact information is shown
fine there. If I quit kaddressbook (exit kontact) and start it again, I can
still see the CardDAV address books, but there is no content. In place off the
address book icon I see a slow wheel, indicating that kaddressbook is waiting
for the source.

kmail can still find addresses in the address book.

The CardDAV source is connecting to egroupware, openSuSE RPMs. System is
openSuSE 11.4 x86_64.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. configure a CardDAV address book
2. exit kaddressbook
3. start kaddressbook again
4. look at the address book

Actual Results:
slow wheel at address book, no contacts shown

Expected Results:
address book icon at address book, contacts shown

openSuSE 11.4, x86_64
egroupware, openSuSE RPMs

[Bug 285843] New: kmail2 importing process doesn't correctly detect read/unread status flag

2011-11-05 Thread Fabio Rossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285843

Summary: kmail2 importing process doesn't correctly detect
read/unread status flag
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ross...@inwind.it

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I'm migrating from kmail1 to kmail2 trying to import the maildir with the
provided tool kmailCVT. As stated in #133210 kmail1 stores the read/unread
status in its indexes files for speed reasons and it doesn't keep updated the
mail files. The import procedure reads only the plain mail files so the status
is wrong not considering the indexes!

I guess the result is similar for the other flags.

Considering that the data is produced by kmail1, this is a bad problem because
kmail2 can't read correctly its predecessor files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
import a maildir structure produced by kmail1

Actual Results:
the read/unread status is read from the mail files and not from the indexes

Expected Results:
The import process should preserve the read/unread status flag.

Maybe it is useful, iotop says that akonadi_maildir_resource writes a lot on
the disk for no apparent reason.

Same for me.
Sending with web.de works (not BCC visible for recipients, only for the sending
account, if it is within the bcc list)
Sending with mail.zeus02.de (UD Media) discloses all BCCs.
Sending with googlemail discloses all BCCs.
Sending done solely with kmail2.

Installed is full kde.4.7.2 (including bundled kontact/kmail).
Also tested it with full kde-4.7.3, where googlemail discloses BCCs and web.de
does not.

--- Comment #1 from Howard Coles Jr 2011-11-05 16:12:49

After an update it appears that the attempt is being made, its just very very
slow. As in the day after I finally filed this bug, Kmail attempted to send
it. Not sure what changed but it is now at least sending the email. It has a
little delay now, and it failed to send the attachments once, but at least its
sending the email.
Notes: Waited 3 days and several configs (deleted the send/receive configs and
recreated them) before filing this.
I also tried adding the dummy destination, and it wouldn't send through that
either.
also tried several restarts, both powering off and killing all the processes.
(Akonadi and mail related).
It appears that whatever was updated resolved the issue.

[Bug 285825] New: Right-clicking on a message in a mailing list --> Create Filter shows Filter On Mailing List disabled

2011-11-05 Thread tbohaning
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285825

Summary: Right-clicking on a message in a mailing list -->
Create Filter shows Filter On Mailing List disabled
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: tbohan...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

This right-click menu doesn't detect the List-ID attribute in my E-mails and
create a filter accordingly, unlike with From, To or Subject filter creation.
This means I have to manually view the source to create a filter based on
List-ID. Less knowledgeable users may instead manually create filters based on,
"To:" and, "CC:" properties, which is clumsy.

This was documented as fixed, but is currently broken. I have no way to reopen
a bug, so I'm opening a new report... Previous bug was 276037

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Hilight message. Right click and select Create Filter... Filter on Mailing list
is disabled.

Actual Results:
Unable to select Mailing list

Expected Results:
Should be able to select mailing list

[Bug 285817] New: some folder operations do not work when mutiple folders are selected

2011-11-05 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285817

Summary: some folder operations do not work when mutiple
folders are selected
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@keelhaul.me.uk

Version: Git (master) (using Devel)
OS:Linux

It is possible to select multiple folders in the tree, using Ctrl-click or
Shift-click. However, not all context menu operations are available or work
properly with multiple folders selected:

Copy/Move To: sometimes crashes (will raise a separate bug for that).

Mark All Mails As Read: disabled in menu, being able to do this on multiple
folders would be extremely useful.

Delete Folder: disabled in menu, but reads "Delete # Folders" so it is
obviously aware that multiple folders are selected!

Archive Folder: works for the last folder selected.

Assign Shortcut: works for the last folder selected.

Folder Properties: works for the last folder selected.

Expire: only appears to work on a single folder, it doesn't say which one.

Mailing List Management: only appears to work on a single folder, it doesn't
say which one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Select multiple folders in the tree, try to perform operations from the context
menu.

Actual Results:
Anomalies as above.

Expected Results:
Either the operations should work properly when multiple folders are selected,
or if this is not possible or sensible then they should be disabled.

[Bug 285814] New: Shortcut for moving mail to folder does not move to folder highlighted in dialog

2011-11-05 Thread Thomas Grauschopf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285814

Summary: Shortcut for moving mail to folder does not move to
folder highlighted in dialog
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: commands and actions
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: graus...@web.de

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

When i wanted to move a mail from my inbox folder to another folder in old
kmail, i used the 'm'-shortcut. It displayed a dialog where i chose the target
folder. Usually, once i had my chosen an folder selected it was preselected the
next time even after restart of kmail.

KMail2 does not correctly move a mail to the preselected entry.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use the 'm'-shortcut with a mail in the inbox folder highlighted.

2. Click some folder XYZ in the dialog with the mouse.

3. Press 'Enter'.

4. Restart KMail2.

5. Pressing 'm' with a mail in inbox highlighted.

6. The folder selection dialog is shown. It displays folder XYZ as preselected.

7. Press "Enter".

Actual Results:
The mail is moved to the basis "KMail folder" and not to XYZ.

Expected Results:
The mail should be moved to preselected XYZ folder.

If you click on the preselected entry XYZ with the mouse before pressing Enter,
the mail is moved to the correct folder. Therefore, this seems to be a bug
where the highlighting doesn't reflect the internal data, e.g. XYZ is
highlighted, but internally "KMail folder" is stored as target. With the mouse
click highlighted item and internally stored target getting synced.

(Most probably unrelated to this bug, mails in the basis "KMail folder" cannot
be deleted or moved, only copied.)

[Bug 285809] New: Kmail dead slow while stuck synchronizing two folders in KMail maildirs

2011-11-05 Thread Richard Van Den Boom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285809

Summary: Kmail dead slow while stuck synchronizing two folders
in KMail maildirs
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Slackware Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: richard.vdb...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I just upgraded my slackware system with the latest packages of KDE 4.7.3 and
akonadi 1.6.2 from Alien Bob, which are usually very reliable.
KMail and Kontact worked roughly well with the 4.7.2 packages, provided I
disabled Nepomuk which brought Kontact to a crawl.
After the upgrade, Kontact is stuck when starting at 0% synchronizing 2
subdirs, one with about 7000 mails and the other with about 3500, both being
the target to new mails for two different accounts. The two folders on which
Kontact gets stuck are always the same, called "Nouveaux" which means "New" in
french.

I created initially three maildirs akonadi ressources, as Kmail maildirs to be
able to choose their name, as I manage several different POP account and I like
to keep my mails from different accounts if different places. I also created a
fourth KMail maildir but for some reason it never showed up in Kmail, I'll file
another bug report when I'll have time.

The issue is that I cannot see any mail anymore as long as the two folders are
not synchronized. I can read new mails and the ones in small folders, that
probably were synchronized before Kontact gets to my two "Nouveaux" maildirs.

I can still use Kontact, opening menus and config.
Curiously, Kmail in the same situation does not show the maildir being
synchronized but is still very slow to display some mails. I get the following
errors in the console :

"/usr/bin/kmail(5244)" Soprano: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"
"/usr/bin/kmail(5244)" Soprano: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown -

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
This is very much related to my settings, I suppose.
I don't know how you could reproduce this, probably create a Kmail maildir from
a maildir with a lot of mails, under KDE 4.7.2. Then upgrade.
I still use Soprano 4.7.2

Actual Results:
When I click on a mail, I get the soprano errors and the Fetching mail screen.
Then suddenly, I get the "Error when fetching item" message repeated several
times and then the mail content is displayed. This occurs about 10 minutes
after clicking on the mail. After that, I seem not to be able to view any other
mail from that folder.

Expected Results:
Viewing my mail instantly.

[Bug 279800] akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder uses huge amounts of memory

--- Comment #5 from Sven Eden 2011-11-05 11:17:00 ---
I must say, that upgrading to KDE-4.7.3 seems to have changed the reported
behavior. The stats from my last post no read:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
 8517 sed 20 0 403m 36m 26m S0 1.0 0:00.98 akonadi_nepomuk

The PID is the one from:

sed@sed-notebook ~ $ ps -efa | grep email_feeder
sed 8517 8486 0 10:44 ?00:00:01
/usr/bin/akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder --identifier akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder

Therefore this bug/issue might be resolved now, but I'll keep an eye on my
system.

For me, this error also appears unregularly with signed but not encrypted
messages.

Each time, this occurs, I have to confirm this error message twice. If I rehit
"send message" too early, this error reappears. After waiting two seconds after
confirmation of this error message, the email is sent.

A search for the first part of this error message "Could not compose message"
points to libmessagecomposer.po, which is finally thrown by
kdepim/messagecomposer/composerviewbase.cpp in line 651.
The second part "General Error" is the error string of a KJob object.

I can confirm this in KDE 4.7.3 with kdepim 4.7.3. Autocomplete indeed needs a
complete word, but at least it works with all addressbooks. For me, this means
that the severity could be lower, as it is very workable at the moment, even if
it isn't 100%
