[Bug 275261] Akonadi on NFS mounted home directories is very fragile

2011-11-25 Thread Mathias Homann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275261

--- Comment #5 from Mathias Homann admin eregion de 2011-11-25 08:23:20 ---
systemwide mysql will be my next step.

feature request: make it possible to use *one* database for *all* users in a
network, accessible with *the same* db credentials, so that one network wide
akonadirc can be deployed automatically (maybe even throuigh NIS on startup).

Additionally, make it possible to configure non-cached datasources. When a
company has LDAP set up (Active Directory) I *want* the data to come from the
server every time...

[Bug 287514] New: mail check not working after hibernation of a laptop

2011-11-25 Thread Piotr Golonka
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287514

Summary: mail check not working after hibernation of a laptop
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: piotr.golo...@cern.ch

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I upgraded from Fedora 14 to 16 on my laptop, and this is the first time
akonadi is used as KMail's backend.
I freeze my laptop (suspend), and then wake it up. All the KDE session seems
OK. However, kmail does not refresh any folder, and I do not see the new emails
in my IMAP resource. Even when I click on an existing message in a list, I
cannot see its content.

the method I found to get the things working back again was to
1) stop kmail
2) restart akonadi completely using akonadictl restart in commandline
3) start kmail again

if I don't stop kmail before restarting akonadi, I get strange artifacts such
as only a part of messages being visinle

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) have kmail running, with IMAP resource
2) hibernate, and then unfreeze your laptop

Actual Results:
folders do not refresh; refresh folder doesn't do anything

Expected Results:
After unfreezing and checking an email, I should see new emails in my mailbox

For the first, I created a new issue. The second I'm not sure I understand. Can
you create a new issue for Akonadi and server component, describing what
exactly you wish? Even right now it is possible to configure the cache policy
for Akonadi resources (Akonadiconsole or KMail, right click on the main folder,
properties, Retrieval, set the Keep message bodies for... ), but I'm not sure
this is what you mean, so it is better if you explain it in a separate report.

The IMAP resource is always shown as Ready. The state won't change to
Synching INBOX (100%) or similar.

In Akonadi console the Restart Agent and Synchronize All are also useless.

Just after I toggle the agent on/off, starts working fine.

--- Comment #29 from Christoph Drexler chrdr gmx at 2011-11-25 11:18:27 ---
The workaround described in #23 is quite messy since it replaces the default
akonadi contacts ressource (Personal Contacts) with a vcard directory
ressource.

Setting the default akonadi contacts ressource (Personal Contacts) default in
System Settings-Personal Information-KDE Resources - and thus enabling
autocompletion - really *should* work. But it still does not.

To put it straight:
* I have a Personal Contacts ressource (not a traditional KDE Addressbook).
* It is *not* set read-only.
* I cannot set this ressource to default in System Settings-Personal
Information-KDE Resources because it is said to be read-only.
* Therefore autocompletion does not work in Kmail.

KDE Version is 4.7.3.

Please, please fix this. I really miss the autocompletion feature.

--- Comment #2 from Milian Wolff mail milianw de 2011-11-25 11:41:07 ---
ok, finally got it again myself.

started kmail, wicd failed to get inet connection. kmail showed error messages
that it could not get email (why didn't it detect that there is no active inet
connection?).

then wicd managed to get inet, kmail showed me the go online dialog, I
selected it. but I still have the issue above. looking at akonadiconsole, I see
my dimap accounts with the following error message:

Could not connect to the IMAP-Server ... Failed to connect to server.

It seems as if the agent does not recover from that issue. Furthermore of
course even in such a case, I should be able to see the mails form my
disconnected cache, but that only works in some folders. When selecting a
folder I get this error message _twice_:

Unknown error. (Unable to fetch item from backend)

I think it can be reproduced by trying to connect to some wlan network with
wicd but passing wrong credentials?

Get a mailbox (mine is GMail) with a folder full of letters (50 MB+). In a

When you click on the lower right progress bar in KMail, it will tell you that
it's 0% done. But when you check that in Akonadi, it'll say: 100% done.

Unfortunately neither is true: after 5 minutes, all of those letters will be

[Bug 287572] New: kmail crash on view of message

2011-11-25 Thread Eli Carter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287572

Summary: kmail crash on view of message
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: elicar...@retracile.net

Application: kmail (1.13.7)
KDE Platform Version: 4.6.5 (4.6.5)
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 2.6.38.6-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Fedora RPMs

-- Information about the crash:
I clicked on a message and instead of displaying the content, kmail crashed.
The data is stored in mbox format. Removing the indexes (.*.index and
.*.index.ids) for the folder and trying again did not correct the problem.

Is there fsck equivalent for mbox folders?

This is with a fully updated Fedora 15, 64bit

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Yes - please
I also really would like to have the possibility to use client certificates for
authentication.

I'm just setting up dovecot/postfix with certs and own CA, so if I can assist
with client-certificates, test-accounts for my server - let me know.

Cheers

[Bug 287583] New: Cannot disable IMAP/POP3 password saving if kwallet is enabled: Add save password checkbox to account configuration

2011-11-25 Thread triffterer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287583

Summary: Cannot disable IMAP/POP3 password saving if kwallet is
enabled: Add save password checkbox to account
configuration
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.6.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: triffte...@gmx.de

Version: 1.6.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

In KMail2/Akonadi you cannot choose whether the password for a POP3 or IMAP
resource should be stored at all.
If kwallet is enabled, Akonadi tries to save all passwords to your wallet and
does not connect to the server if you deny access to your wallet.
If kwallet is disabled, it asks for the password every time.

I would like / need the combination of both: I would like Akonadi/KMail2 to ask
for some passwords every time and to not store them anywhere although kwallet
is enabled.

KMail 1.x had a checkbox in the account details where I could choose whether I
want the password to be stored or not. I would like to have this also in
KMail2. If the password is not stored, I have to enter it every time I start
KMail of course, but I am happy with that.

KMail2 features such a checkbox for the SMTP accounts, but not for IMAP and
POP3.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create an IMAP or POP3 account in KMail2 or the Akonadi module in the system
settings.

Actual Results:
You cannot choose whether you want your password to be stored.
If you deny access to your wallet, KMail will not download any e-mails although
you click the appropriate button.

Expected Results:
There should be an option to tell KMail that it should not save the password
(in kwallet or elsewhere) but prompt me every time the password is needed.

This is NOT about the question if KMail should work without kwallet and store
the passwords in the configuration file like KMail 1.x did - it is about
storing the passwords in kwallet (I'm okay with that) and not storing them at
all.

[Bug 287395] Unable to create new address books in contacts section

2011-11-25 Thread Thomas Taylor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287395

--- Comment #1 from Thomas Taylor linxt comcast net 2011-11-26 00:26:07 ---
Problem resolved with help from Thomas Olsen regarding how to create address
book.

This information should be included in the online help section:

You have to select a resource type and then configure it. If you want a new
address book you can select VCard Directory, select the folder you want to
contain the address book (you can create a new folder from the dialog) and
click OK.
It will then have a name like 'akonadi_vcarddir_resource_0'. Right click on
the new resource, select 'Folder properties' and change the name.

Or select VCard File, select to the folder where you want the address book to
reside, enter the *file name* of the address book eg. 'addressbook.vcf' (can be
a non-existent file), click OK and enter Display name.
