[Bug 287884] New: Notes crashed when switching tabs with alt+tab

2011-11-29 Thread ddknoll
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287884

Summary: Notes crashed when switching tabs with alt+tab
   Product: knotes
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: ddkn...@gmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

When I use alt+tab to switch programs, it works alright. But when I use alt+tab
to switch to the desktop, the notes disappeared and would not reappear until I
restarted the program.

It also does not load my user configuration on start-up. I have to change the
k-notes configuration (including keyboard shortcuts) every time I restart the
program.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Hit alt+tab... and keep holding alt until the window switching display pops up.
Then keep pressing tab until you get to the "show desktop" option.

Actual Results:
After switching to the desktop, when I clicked on "Show all notes," it brought
up a different program that I was running.

Expected Results:
Switch to the desktop and temporarily hid my notes.

OS: Linux (i686) release 3.0.0-13-generic
Compiler: gcc

I see this behaviour too in kde-4.7.3.

Akonadi/Kmail can not recognize incoming messages.
Because of this it is not possible to filter incoming messages or to give these
messages a different colour.

To workaround the problem of filtering messages when Kmail is started:
I've made a filter to move unread messages older than 30 days out of the inbox.
This way my inbox is reduced from 4000 to 300 messages. It still takes 2
minutes to filter the messages at start though :(

However, the ical from bugs.kde.org crashes the plasma-desktop.

For example: From the left, choose "Bugs reported today", scroll down and copy
the link address for the iCalendar file:

https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?bug_file_loc=&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bugidtype=include&chfield=%5BBug%20creation%5D&chfieldfrom=1d&chfieldto=Now&field-1-0-0=bug_status&query_format=advanced&remaction=&type-1-0-0=anyexact&value-1-0-0=NEW%2CASSIGNED%2CREOPENED%2CUNCONFIRMED&ctype=ics

Setting this up as an ical resource in akonadi crashes plasma-desktop.

Git commit 18984cacbd7afda8f86d01bff26083bec4b06b57 by Allen Winter.
Committed on 29/11/2011 at 04:16.
Pushed by winterz into branch 'KDE/4.7'.

in Private::storeListResult(), don't try to create a delete job
for an empty list of items. probably means that the ItemDeleteJob
class should assert on such cases so we find other errors like this.

Patch by Ahti, thanks!

I tried
http://www.kde.org/releaseschedule.ics
and it works fine (no crash or anything). Now, is it just the one calendar I
try to access or is it all google ical calendars? I'd be happy to hear if
someone with kde 4.7.2+ could report that google ical works for them.

I made the following commit. Might help with this crash but I don't know.
Please test with the next release. I will backport to 4.7.4
-
Git commit f48cfb60e73f91791d03110fdea90f779d5235cf by Allen Winter.
Committed on 29/11/2011 at 04:05.
Pushed by winterz into branch 'master'.

use the safer qstricmp() or qstrnicmp() functions in place of
strcasecmp() and strncasecmp(), respectively.

[Bug 287871] New: Accessing remote iCal file in akonadi crashes plasma-desktop

2011-11-29 Thread Jari Laamanen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287871

Summary: Accessing remote iCal file in akonadi crashes
plasma-desktop
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ICal file resource
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: yar...@clovermail.net

Created an attachment (id=66203)
 --> (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=66203)
First backtrace

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

Trying to access a remote iCal-calendar crashes plasma-desktop. Desktop keeps
crashing until akonadi gives up. After that it is possible to restart
plasma-desktop from the command line. It is also then possible to actually look
at the calendar entries in kontact. The added ical is disabled in korganizer,
but it can be switched on, and the entries will show up normally. However,
right-clicking the akonadi_ical_resource_N and selecting "update calendar
folder" reliably crashes the desktop.

This is kubuntu 11.10 using KDE 4.7.3

ii akonadi-backend-mysql 1.6.2-0ubuntu1

ii akonadi-backend-sqlite 1.6.2-0ubuntu1

KDE Plasma Desktop and minimal set of applications
ii plasma-desktop 4:4.7.3a-0ubuntu0.1~ppa1
KDE Plasma workspace for desktop and laptop computers

The remote ical-calendar worked fine earlier. It is read only. The crash
happens also at least in kde 4.7.2. I have only access to one remote
ical-resource, which is in google. Therefore I cannot test other calendars, but
I'll be happy to test some others if there are any available for testing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Start akonadi. Resources come up fine, if there is no remote iCal
configured.
1. Add a remote ical-resource to akonadi (ICal calendar file).
2. Press OK
3. Observe the desktop crashing a few times, until akonadi gives up on trying
to handle the ical resource

Actual Results:
Actually, plasma-desktop sefaults:
Application: Plasma Desktop Shell (plasma-desktop), signal: Segmentation fault

Expected Results:
I expected the desktop not to crash. Actually it was somewhat akward as the
first thing after upgrading to kubuntu 11.10 was the desktop crashing
repeatedly.

Calendar resources keep flickering in korganizer as akonadi tries to handle the
ical resource. If I try to kill manually the agent launcher
(/usr/bin/akonadi_agent_launcher akonadi_ical_resource akonadi_ical_resource_N)
it will emerge immediately with another PID.

Starting korganizer from a command line gives this a few (20 or so) times:
korganizer(21354)/libakonadi
Akonadi::MonitorPrivate::slotStatisticsChangedFinished: Error on fetching
collection statistics: "No status for this folder"

I attach two plasma-desktop outputs and backtraces, that I managed to get. I am
not sure if this is a bug in akonadi or in plasma-desktop. Apparently desktop
tries to access the calendar also. I have "Digital clock" applet in the panel.
It shows the calendar entries in its pop-up calendar.

Do you still have the .dat file? Yes, seems something went wrong, although I
can't tell now what. Can you try to import the same dir into Akonadi (e.g by
using another user on the system) and see if the bug comes back there?

This is the best I can do at this time. My user is not experienced and gave me
this. It will be difficult to get any debugging since this occurs at random
times on several windows XP machines.

[Bug 287857] New: Akonadi ignores changes to contacts' vCard files

2011-11-29 Thread Ivan Vasin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287857

Summary: Akonadi ignores changes to contacts' vCard files
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.6.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Contacts resource
AssignedTo: to...@kde.org
ReportedBy: nisa...@gmail.com
CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 1.6.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

this is with Akonadi 1.6.2.

some changes to an address book are much easier to make using non-Akonadi
tools. this is especially true for batch edits, and more especially if there
is custom logic involved in the edits.

however, if i make some changes to my contacts, Akonadi apparently ignores
them. my setup is as follows:

* a Personal Contacts resource sourced from ~/.local/share/contacts-work.
* a Personal Contacts resource sourced from ~/.local/share/contacts-personal.
* an Akonadi Google Contacts resource sourced from my Google account.

if i make changes to the vCard files in ~/.local/share/contacts-work, the
changes do not show up in KAddressBook, even if i right-click the address book
and choose "Update Address Book folder". it seems to me that the latter action
should pull in any changes that were made externally to the vCard files.

a workaround is to remove and recreate the corresponding Personal Contacts
resource.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a Personal Contacts resource.
2. add or import some contacts via KAddressBook.
3. make some changes to the *.vcf files in the resource's directory.
4. open KAddressBook.
5. right-click the address book created in step 1, then choose "Update Address
Book folder".

Actual Results:
the changes made in step 3 are not visible in KAddressBook.

Expected Results:
the changes made in step 3 are visible in KAddressBook after step 5. it would
be even better if this was true after step 4.

[Bug 287851] KMail2 is not able to show the content of received e-mails anymore

2011-11-29 Thread Roland Wolters
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287851

--- Comment #2 from Roland Wolters 2011-11-29 19:02:47
---
I was able to fix the database errors by:

mysql_upgrade --socket=~/.local/share/akonadi/socket-X/mysql.socket

Hower, I am still not able to view a single E-Mail.

Maybe that is of interest:
The akonadi system tray tells me about the local ressource:
"is in sync 0%" (roughly translated)

The version you are using is that from the last 2 days?
If not could you update and retest?
There was a double encoding issue fixed 2-3 days ago in the templateparser.

I've also seen the Akonadi server sometimes not resuming properly after waking
from hibernation. Restarting the Akonadi server has fixed things on these
occasions.

[Bug 287851] New: KMail2 is not able to show the content of received e-mails anymore

2011-11-29 Thread Roland Wolters
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287851

Summary: KMail2 is not able to show the content of received
e-mails anymore
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: wolters.li...@gmx.net

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

Hej,

while the initial import of all my e-mails (locally stored as maildir, I use
several POP3 accounts) did work, kmail2 is not able to show these data anymore.
While I am still able to download e-mails from my various pop3 accounts, they
cannot be opened.

As a result, I am *not* able to read my e-mails!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open kmail2
2. Click on any e-mail

Actual Results:
The preview window shows the statement, that the mail is about to load, but
nothing else. The content of the actual e-mail is not shown.

A double click does not open any window.

Expected Results:
The preview window should show me the e-mail, the double click should bring up
a window with the e-mail.

If I open up kmail, in the right lower corner I can see the progress bar for
"messages are being filtered".

But the progress bar does not move. If I click on the red dash to cancel that,
it says (translated) "cancel is in progress".

It did not happen until the 3rd time resuming from hibernation after up'ing to

If it happens again I will attempt to resolve by restarting the Akonadi server

[Bug 285676] akonadi blocks kmail because of searching for bogus emails

2011-11-29 Thread Marco Clemencic
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285676

--- Comment #19 from Marco Clemencic 2011-11-29

the suggestion of comment #17 works, but it is a workaround and not a fix. BTW,
that's what I did to be able to work.

To answer to comment #18:
1. my understanding of the difference is that in one case the top level
directory can contain mails while the other not: 'kmail folders' (broken one)
is a directory containing MailDirs, while 'local folders' (working one) is a
MailDir... so it can contain nested MailDirs.
2. after the migration you get the broken one.

[Bug 287844] New: Issue with Akonadi server after hibernation

2011-11-29 Thread bill p .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287844

Summary: Issue with Akonadi server after hibernation
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: dweeble01...@gmail.com

Version: 4.8 (using Devel)
OS:Linux

after resuming from hibernation I got the following message from Kalarm:
   Failed to update alarm.
(Unknown error. (NO Unable to retrieve items ))

I then restarted Kalarm and the app's window was blank, no alarms shown but the
calendar file was full

Starting Kalarm again from Konsole gave:
kalarm
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.

Restarting KDE resolved the problem

It was suggested to me that the problem was that the Akonadi
server may not always resume properly when waking from hibernation

note: as Kalarm is the only Akonadi related app I use I can not state if other
apps (Kmail, Kaggregator) acted similarly

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
hibernate KDE

Actual Results:
Kalarm did not show any alarms

Expected Results:
Kalarm works as it has always

i don't quite undestand that solution. could you point me to some
documentation, which'd answer to these questions:
1. what's the difference between 'kmail folders' and 'local folders' resources?
2. which one should i have after migrating from kmail1?

the Akonadi configuration files in $HOME/.kde/share/config/akonadi* to check if
it is a configuration problem.

I just saw this message on the cli, it was not even a warning:

Error during executing query "UPDATE PimItemTable, CollectionTable SET atime =

Personally I think such issues should shown, if not to the user, then at least
in a debug build to the developer...

I have no idea what triggered it though, here is some more lines of the cli
log.

> you can't. It's by default.

defaults can be changed

what is the reasoning to create cruft on users systems and to force users to
look at that cruft, and not just to look at it but also let the cruft obstruct
the work with useful data?

why to create those directories on startup and not only when they are really
needed (possibly warning/asking user about them missing and the creation)?

my usecase is that I use IMAP, I have my inbox/outbox/sent folders on the IMAP
server, I do not use the local ones by default

yet still I want local maildir to serve as an archive, so I add it to kmail
(akonadi) too - but I want to manage the contents of the archive myself, I
really do not want any software to bother me by creating subdirectories that I
do not want to use (or see at all)

btw, what if I switch locale, I'd have another set of directories created? - so
I'll possibly (if I'd use the default folders) get data scattered in different
places just because of different locale, making them inaccessible with another
locale setting?

> Reassigning to kmail2

I was able to achieve this using emacs as an external editor (and with emacs
spell-checker, of course).

The magic was done by libtextcat. This can be done either on the whole text, or
paragraph by paragraph.

For the code, see
http://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/~mp26/download/flyspell-textcat.el
(I had to adapt it)

So I guess it should not be difficult to implement directly into the kmail
editor (?)

[Bug 287821] New: Next/previous message shortcut keys should not loop around from end - start of message list.

2011-11-29 Thread Peter Lewis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287821

Summary: Next/previous message shortcut keys should not loop
around from end - start of message list.
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: p...@muddygoat.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

When the last message in the message list is displayed, pressing the keyboard
shortcut to go to the next message moves to the first message in the folder,
looping around. (And vice versa for the previous message shortcut.) This isn't
logical. When you're displaying the last message, there is no next message, so
pressing the keyboard shortcut to move to the next message should do nothing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Select the last message in a folder and press the next message keyboard
shortcut.

Actual Results:
The first message in the folder is displayed.

Expected Results:
Nothing.

[Bug 286692] Kmail doesn't show attachment icon in message list.

2011-11-29 Thread third-impact
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286692

I can confirm this bug in Kubuntu 11.10 using KDE 4.7.3. Attachments are shown
sometimes in the message list, but disappear. Same for other info like the
forwarded email icon. The "important" icon does not disappear.

It seems to be very random behaviour, the icons disappear 90% of the time
instantly when receiving the mail or at actions like hovering over the message
list or clicking on the message. Sometimes the icons are shown for a few
minutes and disappear after a while without doing anything.

I'm using an IMAP account and have several filters in use which are instantly
applied when mail arrives, so I guess the filters may not be the problem. It
wasn't a fresh install, I did an upgrade from Kubuntu 11.04 a while ago and
used the Kmail migration assistant (for which I should write a dozen other bug
reports...)
